I feel like Spongebob waiting at the clock at work lol… super excited…but at the same time, I have class and Gears of War 3 to play… ahh, the fun.
i remember the previous releases of zbrush… i got nervous, excited, frustrated, bored, excited again, angry, depressed… as i received the upgrade-mails at the very last moment… it took about a week after the final release date…
so this year i pledge to be patient, patient, looking forward, getting nervous, excited, but never - never! - angry
cheers pixo!
I don’t think Zbrush can be pigeon holed (no pun intended) like that. It has indeed come to excel at 3D concept design, but I’m not sure that was ever the original intention at the beginning. It isn’t the only thing Zbrush excels at either.
Like I said before, brushes will probably still push polygons in and out without being able to create holes the way you can with voxels. From watching the videos posted, it seems as if the updated clipping brush and boolean brush will be the only way to create holes in Z4r2. Not exactly subtractive in the sense you mean, but certainly getting closer.
good luck with that!
BTW: I like the new forum style too…
Will there be a trial version of Zbrush 4 R2 avaible soon ?
thanks! i think i might need it!
So, is here someone could tell us what’s new?
all you need is to wait… or go to watch star wars blu-ray edition since it have around 50 hours of bonus (includng movie) ^^,
I would, but the parcel is sitting at the post office right now. Bad timing I spose. I will just have to be patient. Regarding my earlier post - Im just passing on the gist I got from the individual who was representing Pixologic on Twitter several hours ago.
I probably shouldn’t intervene… but i think it might give you all something to read…
From the reading provided by troy1617 : “ZBrush 4R2 is a 32-bit application, but can use up to 4 GB of system RAM” (excerpt from “ZBrush 4R2 Installation and Activation”).
I think that’s a big let down for a lot of people, but then most of us suspected 64bit wasn’t on the cards for this release. I’m sure the new features are worth the wait.
But but but… I’m all out of nails. Being distressingly flexible I have eliminated all of them.
AND do you have ANY IDEA how much coffee 750+ hours represents???
EDIT: its the 20th

i hae a couple of questions. is the upgrade free? will it be in 64 bit?
The upgrades are always free to anyone who purchased the program. The 64 bit question is unknown
at this time.
I know everyone is excited as ever about the new release and the long time users of Z already know
the routine of how the upgrade releases work. If you’ve never been through one of these just be
patient. They release the emails in batches so as not to nuke their server from everyone trying to
download the update all at once. No real rhyme or reason to the timing of the emails as far as I know,
just make sure to watch your spam folders as well. Sometimes they sneak in there.
For people who are concerned that they did not receive their Upgrade Preview email, do not worry. It was sent using the same system that we use for newsletters and other announcements. If you at any point opted out of that mailing list (by clicking the “opt out” link that is every such email), you will not have been sent the Upgrade Preview.
This has no effect on the actual upgrade, however. The upgrade email will be sent by our order fulfillment company, Cleverbridge.
Again, I would like to stress what I stated yesterday: The upgrade will be released when everything is ready for that to happen. There are a lot of elements to be coordinated on launch day.
- Launch will take place before midnight tonight, Pacific time.
- Upgrade emails will begin going out when 4R2 launches.
- It may take as long as a week to send all the emails. Don’t panic if yours doesn’t arrive tonight. Or even tomorrow night!
Thanks!
I think that last part might be difficult for some
in this case, you can always try to watch a star trek marathon which it have nearly 750hours ^^;
The lull before the storm.
