Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

I got burned buying it on the assumption of getting the free upgrade…i got burned by a “car salesman strategy” sale…I am out some $…and am just going to chalk this up to a “loss” and go on. i’m just tired of not getting an answer. AND if a 3.5 version IS for the mac…I assume they will want more money…for what? To try out 3. 5 on my mac and have problems and get no answers and MAYBE get an update 2-3 years later?? no…

Yeah, I agree. I like the ape sh_t metaphor! LOL!

The last company to give me this horrible of service was Time Warner, Saturday I have ATT U-Verse coming in, so bye bye Time Warner. So that leaves one more piece of Sh*t company for me to deal with. I just have to find a replacment for a program I never get to use. Should be easy to replace something you can’t use!LOL! I am going to check in on 3D Coat again, they have a beta for Mac and it looks really nice.

Everyone, we need to let the world know about this. We need to direct as many people to this thread as possible. I know a lot of people in the industry know we’re getting the shaft, but let’s post this trash everywhere! I am all about smearing the name that is Pixologic to everyone and anyone willing to listen.

SO go to your forums and blast away! Probably won’t matter, but instead of supporting them, since they haven’t supported us an ounce, I am going to make it my mission to “unsupport” them!

i hate to have the bring this one up but what choices are open to mac osx users in the end?

1.wait…though by the looks of it the waiting is over for many here.
2.load up windows via parallels or bootcamp and use 3.1 if your on intel mac
3.if your on g4 or g5 you’ll need to buy a windows pc or notebook to run 3.1
4.buy modo for osx and sculpt in that.
5.run blender…
6.buy silo3d on mac
7.wait till mudbox 2009 ships then runit in bootcamp or buy a pc if there’s no osx version by then.
8.if i were a g4/g5 mac user [i’m on g4 mac but also have a couple of pc’s] i’d go off n either buy a intel mac or get a cheap notebook/desktop by now.
9.keep using version 2 of zbrush.

for me currently zbrush offers stuff that no one else does…not modo not silo and no mudbox…so really you have to find an option that gets zbrush up n running…and that means windows until something changes.

i really don;t think pixologic are setting about to shed their mac osx users
…yup they’re quite poor at communications to them but i tyhink if they possibly could they would get an osx version out…

development is a tricky beast at best

could be that they’re moving away from 2.5 to open gl like that of mudbox
seeing as it can offer equivalent poly density now…that could be a tough nut to crack in osx…i dont know…just a wild guess…

in the end i reckon everyone WANTS to use zbrush and with no other choices out there your sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place!

They are losing their supremacy: 3D sculpting is not a novelty and there are many new competitors. Their worst nightmare is Autodesk.
So they have to show a new, and revolutionary set of tools. They can survive only if they route their opponents. They have no choice. But they can’t produce a totally new and better porting for mac and revolutioning their software at the same time. Here’s their problem and our problem.
At the same time, they can’t reveal nothing about their current and future developments because the new ZB for mac and their new revolutionary ZB are the same thing. Probably they have delayed the release of the mac version, since they are studying the moves of autodesk.
By this point of view, their “low profile” at siggraph, and their disappointing lack of news, is maybe a part of a long term strategy.
It’s like a silent poker game between pixologic and autodesk, and pix can’t mistake a single move, since the opponent is a giant.
Unfortunately we are in the middle of this battle, and we are paying the bill.
I don’t like all this, I don’t like it at all… but here’s the situation.

Moenen,
Seems like a good/accurate take on it all.
i don’t like it a bit either… it’s lame & we’ve been had.

Is it just me, or has the refund thread disappeared?

it USED to be

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?p=477440#post477440

well it’s their forum!

if they want to delete this whole mac thread they can…if it gets out of hand that is…

they can certainly delete it… but it will spawn a dozen new ones

Sorry I just don’t buy that. Firstly they can communicate honestly without giving away any secrets. Every other software developer manages it why not Pixo?

Secondly they could have released ZB3.1 even if it was only a beta version since it was close to release in early February. That way every Mac user could have been beta testing for them, 3.5 could have been kept completely under wraps and they could have charged for the upgrade. Now they pretty much have to give away yet another version for free. I don’t see how they could give it to Mac users but charge Windows users.

The simplest thing would have been honesty though. Just explain that despite their best efforts ZB3 for Mac would not be available for a considerable period. we’d have been disappointed but they’d at least still have our confidence and respect.

Well they could ban every Mac user?..

“Well they could ban every Mac user?”

Yes they could… I wouldn’t put it past them at this point.

It seem that they closed down the refund thread, I tried to sign up and I could do it. I would really like to get my money back so I can move on to something else. I think I’m getting an ulcer from the frustration.

You know what I have about all this, is fact that they don’t have the COJONES to tell us the truth. I think most of us would have understood, if the had told us the truth and had kept us inform. They will never get another cent from me again.

Is there an easy way to archive this thread in case of a class action suit? It could just disappear into thin air as other posts in the past have around here. I think this thread is valuable as proof.

i agree with everyone on here too that says you can’t find anything like ZBrush to do the work like ZBrush does…

…can’t someone PLEASE develop an open-source version of ZBrush for us? please!!! I mean…“Blender” came along when i needed it for 3D…someone real smart…opensource…free…i can dream cant I.

Ohh well I actually made the thread to keep it centralized, not to offend anyone.

You don’t have to apologise. Someone else has to but as we all are witnessing they don’t…

I know folks are angry and frustrated but instead of threats to drop zbrush etc that unless you actually carry out the threat why not press for them to drop the silence situation.

They MUST realise that it is not helping them or us. I see no reason why they cant allow every mac user to beta test the application and open up a private area on the forum to discuss issues with it.

I do agree that the silent treatment has gone beyond ridiculous for many but dont make empty threats unless you really plan on going through with them. Its pointless otherwise.

Mike R

I agree with you mykyl but some of us don’t get through with our threats because we’re hoping for an announcement. And that is what pixologic is taking advantage of and continue their silent treatment. If they don’t feel pressured they just won’t bother.
If they were pressured they would have issued a announcement in a few hours.
