Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

it would be nice to have a new official mac and zbrush 3 thread since aurick closed down the last one do to the rudeness of the comments.

until we receive news on mac and zbrush 3, it would provide a great way for mac users to communicate with each other and provide a handy stress release.

also, most of the rude comments were os fights between mac and windows.
so leave those out, they don’t help.

It would be nice to see some of the beta tester images.

Sorry, but I’ve giving up on Pixlogic. My opinion is that they really don’t care about what we think or feel, because we really don’t have any other place to go. I’ll bet that if there was another app that we could use, thing would be very different.

If, it is true that zbrush for mac is in the final stages, why can’t we see images from the beta testers. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

I got an email a few days ago that said they were
trying to be done by the end of April.

i won’t hold my breath since it’s may already but as far as mac beta testing images, these guys don’t work for pixologic so…

…if you’re beta testing and have some images you want to show us, post 'em.

i think it would do wonders for community spirit.

just wondering, how did you get an email? did you email asking them first? cause, they know i didnt take the PC version and you think there would be a “general mac user” list that they MIGHT use. You know, update everyone? I just havent bothered with emailing them for fear i would just make someone even angrier and then, like the thread getting closed down, i would have my email blocked or something.

Well, since the original thread closed down I waited a while
and shot a mail to support, about a week ago. They said
shooting for end of April. I didn’t clench my buttocks or
anything, they said end of February too. But at the same
time that’s all you have to go on, and it’s at least reassuring
to hear an acknowledgement, that it exists / is being
looked at etc.

I think in a thread environment it’s difficult, we might have
better luck if we all approach individually through email and
collectively report our responses here - that seems to have
worked so far, and is actually ‘official’.

Just a thought. Better than repeating somthing that’s already
gone down in flames anyway…

bobo - beta testers are under NDA, I already tried that one

You know, that thread wasn’t that bad. (IMO) I really feel it was closed because of the subject matter. They didn’t want to fuel the fire, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one gets closed if they don’t deliver soon. I have heard of threads disappearing on these boards in the past. I have no proof other than reading about it in the past. I’m trying not to be negative here, I do believe in Pixologic. I just wish they had a PR person to handle the situations they dig themselves into. I know we will get our Mac version and it will be great. But we do deserve some “Official” news on the matter. That whole “unofficial” news from an insider was just ridiculous!

3dj, excellent! just common sense!

I didn’t want to get into the entire controversy and be negative, but as a designer for many company campaigns , i was thinking exactly like you wrote, and how easy Pixologic wold get out of this situation with a few very simple steps, with no meter what the truth about the mac version is.

And… its still not late for them to do so.

I’m a novice z-brush user running z-brush 2.0 on my powerbook G4 mac and was wondering if anybody heard any up to date news as to when the mac version of z-brush 3.0 will be available? I would be thankful for any news.
:frowning:

The Mac version is currently in advanced beta testing. More news of a release date will be given as soon as possible.

i don’t think they’ll close down this thread. attacks were getting way too personal on the other one.

let’s face it, we’re frustrated and have every right to be. that doesn’t mean we don’t like zbrush or pixologic. their product is heads over everything else at handling high poly counts and good intuitive organic sculpting.

i haven’t stopped using z2, i just eagerly await z3.

besides the purpose of this thread is for mac users to talk amongst themselves.

i wonder does the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) include not posting images or is it just talking about software features. a little help here aurick.

I’m not sure why some of you say you’re giving up…
…because you all know once it comes out you will crawl back like a baby to the awesomeness zbrush 3 WILL be on mac.

I’m still waiting patiently and excited for when it does come out!

Aurick posted in the other thread to please not ask anything of the Beta testers.

-Jim

LOL yea that didn’t go over so well…

Not holding breath, but eager at any rate!

Anyone else try contacting support about the release?

–edit–
Didn’t see the post from marcus, hot-dog!!

I gave up in the way Pixologic has handle the situation, I thought they should have done a much better job keeping us inform after taking our money. Money that I payed back in december thinking that zbrush 3.0 would be out in a month or 2. But I have not giving up on ZBrush yet. I’m still waiting patiently since I have no other choice but to wait.

The demo download page is very screwed up and misleading. If you guys do not have a ZBrush 3 demo available for Mac then you should make it clear that the demo download is PeeCee only.

Parallels is a pile of crap with Leopard. I purchased a new MacPro and it’s all but worthless for running ZBrush in Parallels, not to mention all of the problems trying to get my Cintiq pressure sensitivty to work properly through Paralells.

i know many mac users use macs for illustration/3d programs, i’m confused as to why wacom has not made the correct drivers to work with things like Paralells etc.

I think the problem is more to do with Parallels than Wacom; their driver works fine, I don’t see how you can expect them to support you in an emulation environment - that would mean one version for parallels, one for fusion, one for VPC? meh, let’s just get z3 for mac. Save Parallels for UV Layout until they get their OS X version done later this year.

Funny you say that. Headus UV Layout is the only program I use Parallels for as well. Are they porting it to Mac? I hadn’t heard.
