Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

Here here! aurick deserves a pay raise and promotion, bevcause you’re right, he does a lot for us.

I can’t think of what kind of a revolutionary feature will help make up for lost time, patience, etc… Which could be a good thing, or it could be a disaster; and stereoscopic 3D would fall under the disaster category.

Take it with a grain of salt… remember they
have already stated that they do not believe in
estimates because estimates are fake.

If they say December, I ask what day?

I hope they upgrade their corporate policy
at the same time. That could use a full version
or two imho. Current practices are philosophy
are horribly embarrassing and unprofessional.

This will be two release we’ve been skipped on
so far, and over two years of platform absence.

Best wishes to all who’ve been sticking it out-
hope to converse again soon & under far different
circumstances. Make art, not war. Peace!

And the wait goes on . . . and in December, then Pix will say. . .

“. . . and in December, then Pix will say. . .”
You are optimist…

Touché!

Hybernate for animals in winter ! Don’t forget to wake up for Christmas, look’s like a joke, a gift for Noel !!!

Joyeux Noel !

I will wake up if I can… see ya in december…

this news inspires me to model a giant shaft, you know the one we all just got.

I don’t know…virtual reality 3d modeling and sculpting is the inevitable future. Same goes for movies, games, internet surfing, and tv. With companies like rabbit holes surfacing, still images like photography, art, books, and magazines will be truly 3d soon enough. This has been the trend all along, but who knows what to expect in December, it’s probably zsquares or some crap…

Yeah, you’re right; I just think that until it feels seamless, its too distracting for my taste. Putting on glasses just takes me out of the experience, even if it’s cool for a couple of shots/images.

Pixologic do you really think any promise of a release date will be believed by anyone here?

IMO Pixologic has proven over and over it can’t be trusted? And the promise of something “Spectacular” just doesn’t cut it anymore. “I can’t create art with promises.”

Really disappointing news IMO if it’s true, but who knows what’s truth anymore with this company. If I remember correctly we were promised by Pixologic that ZBrush 3 for mac would be released last May and that was 12 months after the Windoze release of ZB3. It’s Inexcusable IMO of Pixologic to make us Mac users wait now till December. Siggraph was my breaking point. I won’t be back here if this news is true.

IMO this company has set a new standard for bad public relations and I’m finished with them. The only way I would EVER buy another Pixologic product is if they offered me a FULL refund now and let ME decide if I want to buy the new version when it comes out in Dec.

Very disappointed the way this whole thing has turned out.

THIS IS BULLS@#%T

Native 64 bit support would be one thing. Automatic updates would be another. Super high definition would be the next? Anyway!

OH, and an SDK.

Good Idea! Just Signed it! Tired of their Excuses.

Please don’t give Aurick a hard time. As far as I can see he got here through using ZB like anyone else, and despite a very difficult situation he’s always been courteous. There have been many many times in my life I’ve asked someone at customer support to tell me things they just don’t know or are specifically ordered not to say. That’s just the way it is.

December?

****ing… DECEMBER!?

What fresh bull**** is this? When I spoke to someone very senior at Pixologic I was assured they were trying to get the Mac code out before SIGGRAPH. So I figure, cool, they’ll be there or thereabouts.

I get no solid answer about PPC or Intel versions, so I figure what the hell. I’ll narrow my chances and pick up a new Intel MacPro, ready for the inevitable post-SIGGRAPH download.

And now someone - not even a ****ING PIXOLOGIC REPRESENTATIVE but someone from the show floor - tells us it’s not due till December!?

Which, of course, means Spring 2009. Or, possibly Summer, or possibly SIGGRAPH next year.

I’m utterly disgusted by this company’s treatment of its users. I bought ZBrush 2 on the understanding that the much-improved version 3 was around the corner.

Frankly, if I’m to wait another four or five months, I’ll have my money back and buy-in again when the product is actually real. I’ve had it with this company. Words fail me.

Autodesk is an idiot for not releasing a Mac version of Mudbox - they’d have ZBrush defectors in droves.

I guess it’s a matter of demand, if enough studios will request a osx version of Mudbox, we’ll get it, sooner rather than later, Autodesk has the size to do this in a quick turnaround. You can say what you want about maya, and the last couple of versions being no up to standard or stability of version 7. But they’ve kept the deadline, and more importantly released multiplatform and bit versions every single time…

I know theres a difference and pixo properbly doesn’t have that many working on zbrush - but the keeping promises and releasing multiplatform as well as 64 bit versions (all though Autodesk still needs to make one for maya osx in 64 bit) pixo could learn alot from Autodesk on that…

I bet that autodesk is working on Mudbox for Mac, they just finished Toxik for mac aswell, so I bet mudbox is coming also…

I’m tired of pxiologic getting interest rates of my money, while I cant get any work done!

I’m quite sure that the guy who gave the answer just speculated. Like everyone else. I need to hear something official to believe anything.

And usually “revolutionary” new features aren’t on a .5 upgrade. This is one more clue that he might not know what he is talking about.

Either way I’m asking for a refund. I can buy it when it’s out.
If only I could ask for my money back for all the Z3 training DVDs I purchased…

I certainly hope their non-existent PR department is preparing a very nice apology letter.

They could learn from every software company I’ve ever dealt with. Their lack of communication after such a protracted delay is absurd and insulting.

At some point in the last 7-8 months (since the “we’re on target for a late February release” Pixologic decided to drop the Mac version of ZB3/3.1 and move on to a new version with added features. They knew at that point that would mean a further prolonged delay in releasing a Mac version.

Simply informing us that plans had changed and we would have a long wait should have been a first priority at that point. A simple apology would have been nice too!

The chances of Pixologic meeting that December release date are remote in my opinion, I don’t think they have met a target since I’ve been using ZB (since ZB1.55) That in itself isn’t a crime, other companies rarely release on time either. It does mean that we have another 6 months to wait though and maybe much more. I’ve owned my current Mac Pro for around 18 months and never had a copy of ZB that will run on it reliably under OSX. In the time I’ve been waiting for an Intel version of ZB my computer will have gone from cutting edge to old technology, unbelievable!
