Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

101 pages of Z on the wall, 101 pages of zZZzzzz

Rabbitholes Thats really cool! Talk about outside the box thinking! Man thats just too cool of a concept!

Yeah, I’ve had my eye on that company for over a year. After viewing their new pricing guide, now it’s a $2000 flat fee for the initial processing of a scene or animation. Then, there’s a “really” affordable pricing guide that starts at $200 for a wallet sized print, which essentially means it’s for corporate advertising or corporate/rich/famous artists. I still don’t know if they’ve gotten any faster at processing the actual image, it doesn’t say, was a month or more.

After the clock ticks for a while, this will become consumer affordable, and revolutionize 3d artwork. I mean, how much did a simple calculator cost back in the day, and how much more was money worth then? This will be good for me in ten+ years…or when I win the lottery…which ever comes first…

Hi, I thought it was time to share my (all too common) story about my wait for Zbrush 3.

I purchased ZB3 for Mac on July 10, 2007. The confirmation email from cleverbridge contained where to download ZB2, and included the information on my Windows “transfer license”. At the time I thought this would be a temporary fix, and that 3 was on its way.

I’ve been watching the threads for any indication of a release for over a year now, and all there ever seems to be is the same dog-and-pony show with the title being “almost done”, and “in testing”. A few months ago, I went to Pixologic’s website and was positively ecstatic to see that they now listed the Mac system specs for ZB3–I took this as indication that the release had happened and that I had somehow missed the news. I emailed Support, and all I got was an Inbox full of disappointment and frustration.

At this point, I (like everyone else) want something to happen. I just want the software I paid $489 for (which is a huge chunk of my discretionary income), or the option for a refund. Does anyone know how/where I could pursue a refund? Anyone insight would be helpful.

And if Aurick sees this post (which I hope he will), I just want to say to him that this whole situation has left me gravely disappointed.

Anyone here going to Siggraph tomorrow? I’d love to hear what Pixologic are showing!

Wish I was going, so I could actually put some sort of face on the mystery that is Pixologic. If anyone here does go, be cautious about asking any of the Pixo guys for any information regarding the Mac version: They’re liable to pop a poison pill before you’re able to get anything out of them.
Let’s just hope Mac users actually get some good news on Monday.

only a few hours to go…then 3.5 will have the wraps taken off of it…

will it be sporting a tri operating system release?

photoshop layers for painting?

a camera?

animation?

no long now!

i’m hoping for color/texture layers with blending options for polypaint, also. and having ZBrush’s color editing brushes available for polypainting.

also, looking out for Normal, Displacement, and Texture map creation for HD details, and some extra HD functions, like coverting an HD level to a normal geometry SubD level (just in case i create one too early).

but Pixo will probably have things to offer we never dreamed of. i’m aweful giddy for a grown man. here’s cheers for us mac users…

In some quarters it’s called an “L-pill,” L for lethal. The Pixoguys, for as little as we can learn about them in their isolation, don’t strike me as the kind that would pop a pill. Instead, I would keep an eye on my Mountain Dew, lest they slip one of those little problem solvers into your bottle. From their point of view it might be the perfect solution: You don’t bother them anymore, and they get to keep your money.

I ain't goin' anywhere near that Siggraph! I only hope a SWAT team is nearby when they say, "Mac? What's a Mac? :D

I just wanted to point out that while SIGGRAPH starts tomorrow, the exhibition (which is where the Pixologic booth is) doesn’t begin until Tuesday.

Methinks Aurick, as much as I have despised his lack of communication, has just given me quite a bit of hope with that little nudge.

This has gone on for so long, and hope has been rekindled so many times… well, the proof is in the pudding. And nothing will answer now but pudding. Tuesday will have to be the day.

At long last! (sigh)

Here’s to pudding on tuesday and a long overdue bottle of Chimay
I think I’ll drink one way or the other really…

Come Tuesday be my beak be whetted!
ZB 3.5 for the Mac? Can it be true!

PS> Is it just me or does this thread’s posts startin’ to look like /b/?

haha feureau, i thought i was the only one that went to that site, hehe.
i guess here its more /z/ or /zbc/ instead of /b/ but i guess right now its /wz/ waiting for z.
have to say though i spend little time on /b/ its just too wretched most of the time but i do love the /hr/ boards and /po/ can’t wait to make some simple zbrush models and do some papercraft.

Poop! Luxology are unveiling their goodies today I believe so I assumed the exhibition started today too. Another 24hrs to wait! :frowning: Thanks for the info Aurick!

There will not be reeased a Mac version … Picxologic will announce the Windows verison of 3.5 and with a Mac version to be announced “soon TM” after the windows version.

Then a year later at Siggraph 2009 the same thing will repeat … :frowning:

I simply don’t blieve in them anymore :frowning:
