One week to the start of Siggraph!
Bring it on!
Forget it - it wont happen!
OSX release? Maybe not (I’m not banking on it!) but Pixologic will have development news of some sort and I would hope some sort of indication about how long we might have to wait. If this silence doesn’t end with some kind of major announcement at Siggraph it makes absolutely no sense to me.
Considering what HAS been said, what HAS NOT been said and…what MAY BE said in the future from Pixologic…Can you seriously believe and rely on any of it?
It’s really sad, but I have lost any hope about Siggraph 2008.
At this point, I think that Pixologic should reveal EVERYTHING about this “incoming” Mac release. EVERYTHING means: technical problems, obtained results, further developments and so on.
And OFFICIAL communications, above all. At least every month we should receive a little mail about it. It’s not an impossible request.
In the meanwhile we have had the total porting of Houdini in Mac Os!
All those secrecy and doubts about future of ZB3 for Mac are really disturbing and discorcerting. After this long waiting, we would like to know the “naked truth”, good or ugly. We deserve it.
History have shown that Pixo never keep their deadlines… Did you forget about the so long awaited Zbrush 2.5? How long it was, 1.5 year? and then when they figured out that it was delayed too much and the whole community was starting to forget about it, suddenly they renamed it Zbrush 3 just to show that it was a much more major release than 2.5
I suspect something similar will happen with the mac release…I 'm sure when it 'll be out will be awesome but I cannot trust their release estimations, or their claims about being in the late beta stage of development. Sorry guys but I can’t trust you anymore…
About the only announcement that would make me feel better overall for the long haul, would be Apple bought them out! LOL! I know, good for some, bad for others, but it would be welcomed news.
Hehe, this would be great as long as they don’t kill it like they did with Shake.
omg im so close to getting a OEM version of vista and installing it on my mac just cant wait any longer…SOMEONE SLAP ME lol
there was this program once called ALAM DV for compositing visual effects on a budget and when they were upgrading that software they started a thread or webpage which listed everything that still needed to be completed with a percentage next to it, and when it reached 100% they put a lil green tick by it yay. a v simple but effective way of keeping there customers happy, it was takin ages to come out but noone cared because we were being kept informed and could follow everything.
…where iz it?
I expect the 3.x Mac release at siggraph.
If not i expect the pixologic headquarters being burnt down.
I just want a REFUND
Hey! No stealing my wild and crazy fantasies, fella. Make up your own.
Has anyone seen one “sculpted on ZB3 mac” post? Certainly for the PC beta we saw months of beta results for ZB3. Maybe Pixologic is going to pull a “big surprise” out of the hat at Siggraph, but I’m a bit skeptical. As for a G5 optimized version, I’d be really surprised . . . but stranger things have happened.
They didn’t kill Shake… people thought the same thing about Logic and boom they released Logic Studio (Logic 8). They’re most likely taking the important code and are going to be releasing a new product that’s probably going to be included with the Final Cut Studio package.
I’m sure that even if an update to the Mac ZB is released in the future, it will be a LONG time from now, and by then there will be other options for Mac such as Mudbox. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maxon comes out with a sculpting product or option inside of C4D in the mean time either. Oh, and let’s not forget about Blender!
I don’t think we’ll see a Mac version at Siggraph… I think if they had something completed/near completion, all the people with a Mac license or a Mac > PC “interim” license, would receive an email saying something like “the Mac version of Zbrush will be released on XX-XX-2008 at which time you will receive an email with a link where to download the new version”. Or they could pipe up in this thread with a Mac release date. Because really, when it comes down to it, we KNOW there’s gonna be a Mac version… we just don’t know when. They don’t need a special event to tell us when. If they’re releasing a new super improved Zbrush for both PC and Mac, they STILL could tell the Mac community here that the Mac version will be released on XX-XX-2008, but not say it’s the new super improved Zbrush until Siggraph. My crystal balls say they’ll announce Zbrush 3.5 or 4.0 to be available for both Mac and PC 4th quarter 2008…

This is the letter that Apple apparently sent to Shake users when they stopped development on the program as it was:
"Apple will no longer be selling maintenance for Shake and no further software updates are planned as we begin work on the next generation of Shake compositing software. While we’re excited about the innovations we can bring in the future, we understand you have a business to run today that requires Shake."
Sounds like they are planning to bring something bigger and better to the table eventually. We’ll see…
Adub, I think you may be correct. I was just thinking about Maxon jumping into the sculpting ring. They may make a completely separate module and I am sure they would do it right, tied in the BP etc. Could be very exciting.
Yea, I mean Cinema 4D seems like a very solid package, one of the only major things missing is good organic modeling. Maxon seems like a company that doesn’t mention anything until they release it, so don’t be surprised if out of the blue they bust out with a new option for sculpting that’s as good as their paint / texturing option. When this happens, the question won’t be “When is ZB3 for Mac coming?” it will be… “What is Pixologic?”.
Yeah, I use C4D for most of my stuff, actually the modeling is really great.
If they do bring it out, the question won’t be Pixo who as much as how about a refund! LOL!
