‘Little Computer Groupies’ - wasn’t that an Activision game back in the day?
Thanks for not closing the thread, Aurick.
When I opened this thread, it was intended as a place where mac users could discuss how they are coping with zbrush 2 or running 3 on parallels or whatever. So many of the other threads have moved on, rightfully, to things dealing specifically with Z3, that I thought it would be good for mac users to have a place to share tips and, yes, even vent a little.
so let’s show a little restraint and not let things get personal while we wait for the inevitable mac realease of Z3.
So… d’yall reckon we’ll get a QuickLook plugin for our .ztl files? Would be nice no?
That would be very cool. I’ve only had Leopard installed for a few day and already quicklook is proving indispensable!
Cheers

I’ve quoted your first post probably twenty times trying to keep everyone peaceful and on topic in this thread. Thank you for further emphasizing. It’s amazing the thread hasn’t been closed with the childish off-subject arguing, thanks Aurick for cleaning up the mess. I’ve appreciated having a place to come and discuss info and opinions. It’s a shame so many view this as a place to argue. Pixologic shouldn’t have to take time out of their day to babysit.
As opinionated as I am on the Mac ZB topic, this fits for a good last post. Keep your eye out for artwork from James Thornton, I’ve been working my @$$ off and soon will post some worthy efforts out of the Mac (bootcamp) community. Peace.
Yes, Leopard’s new features have been pretty darn useful so far. And things will only get better with Snow Leopard on the way. I hope Apple has given developers sufficient lead time for them to start making use of the new technology straight away. Grand Central and ZBrush3 firing on 8 cores while sculpting with 64bit memory allocation would result in an experience ‘more powerful than you could possibly imagine’.
And yes, glad to see Aurick stepping in with some well balanced authority. Thanks Aurick.
Let’s talk about some fun things in here guys.
Only 40 days to SIGGRAPH 2008…
Perhaps via the GPU, Pixologic can help calculate normal/displacement maps that use HD geometry. That and extreme multithreading (and loads of RAM) could make for some sweet displacement maps.
Yes, and now that it’s July, looks like Siggraph will be it. Makes sense, I guess, big announcement and all that. Sure hope it’ll be worth the wait. Something spectacular that no one was expecting? We’ll see…
Y’know, all kidding aside, I think when the gadget is released, I’m going to need a complete re-introduction to it. What is ZBrush? Why do I need it? In short, get me excited all over again from a standing start.
I have been running ZB3.1 via Parallels and I have to say it totally stinks. It is sluggish and for some reason the option key doesn’t work which eliminates the possibility of doing certain tasks (if anyone knows why that might be happening I would love to hear).
Here’s the request: Would ZBrush please just tell us the truth. I was told by someone at ZBrush, back in the winter, that it would come out in a month. I contacted them a couple months later and got the same response. Please just tell us what’s going on. We can handle it. If there are technical problems to the extent that we will have to wait until 4.1, please just tell us. Sitting around and hoping and waiting isn’t getting us anywhere. It’s creating so much frustration and ill will toward Pixologic.
Those of us that work can understand that not everything goes according to plan. Sometimes things take longer than we thought they would or we make mistakes. Being honest goes a long way towards establishing goodwill.
So Pixologic, we love ZBrush. That’s why we stick around. We want to be loyal to you and keep using it for years to come. Just have some respect for us and tell us the truth is all we ask.
That would be cool, but I kinda want the app first.
Look, I’m not proud that I let myself be goaded into a fight in this forum, and I know it didn’t solve anything, but don’t you think that some small part of the blame for the breakdown of communication in this thread can be directed at Pixologic as well?
C’mon, has this thread really been much of a place for news and tips? It’s been a place for venting and speculation. Whenever we do ask for any news, we get ignored.
It’s been over a year with almost no sign of activity or response to our inquiries. Under those circumstances not to expect this thread to deteriorate is as ridiculous as it is to leave customers dangling for over a year without any sign of customer service.
This thread is better than having nothing, but it’s not much better
Well said Derek, I agree wholeheartedly!
Ditto.
Also, James, look forward to seeing your work, keep us posted.

Maybe it’s time for some deep covert mission into the pixo labs.
We could put a blond wig on one of you guys in here and some high hill pumps…
Then you could lure the main programmer into bed and then sleep with him.
Then you could get him to talk about the status of the mac version of zbrush 3.1.
Don’t LOL it could work… it could work!!
Lets call it Operation “Mudbox” <–that name would throw them off don’t you think?
We have our volunteer. Operation Mudbox is underway.
I knew I shouldn’t have posted that pic on the web…Oh well, If that’s what it takes…
