I’m learning a lot about ZBrush 2… I think it will be useful with ZBrush 3
learning is important
superior skills trump superior tools
not that one should try and carve “David” with a spoon
Sunday marks ZB3’s first anniversary. (Or at least since I took the “temporary” Windows ZB license.)

wow. I must admit it’s getting harder to resist
Maybe they have skipped Zbrush 3 for Mac and we will all be surprised by Zbrush 4 instead.
Hopefully not longer. I have lost my impetus for creating for now so will have to build up again.

I’m just speculating, but the few replies to these mac threads of late have been saying that 3.x is in beta and will be ready soon, as opposed to directly saying 3.1. Also as Kerwin pointed out, it has been a year. And Aurick did say that we may be in for a surprise. But that’s just my uneducated guess
I don’t care how much time they need to get it done. Just make sure that it’s stable and fast.
yeah, watch, they’ll introduce the mac version as the “next step” when we didn’t even get to take the first step. Oh well, whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be sweet, but, on the other hand, it better be earth moving for the wait, and the poor PR. I still say, if they weren’t as innovative and apparently good with submitting for patents, I for one would have jumped ship along time ago if someone truly could match their application. As far as I can tell, everyone else is a distant third, fourth etc.
Well what can you do but wait. That is the one thing they are very good at, making us wait because we have no alternative. I keep thinking it will be soon, but I keep getting shocked at the amount of time that has passed us by. Hope they don’t shut this thread down because of my negativity. I try to be hopeful too, but like I said, we are do something “earth moving”. I know, I know, sounds ridiculous, but so has this whole year of circumstances.
Good night, or morniing wherever you are, here’s to waiting some more.

I just recieved the new 24" iMac 3.06 GHz with the nvida 8800gs card and 4gb ram… Now the wait is really really hard…
Well, I waited almost a year and took the plunge a couple weeks ago because the thing is at least in beta. It can’t be THAT much longer. They were trying for a Feb. release and it’s almost June. I decided to buy it in an effort to save $110, since I knew I was going to buy the Mac version the day they released it.
IMO, it’s still freakin’ awesome under bootcamp and I regret waiting as long as I did. Seriously, if you can run bootcamp and have access to Windows, don’t hold out on getting this. It runs great and rebooting doesn’t take long at all. You can access files from the Windows hard drive straight from Finder in OS. Take into consideration that I use the 3d sculpting for 2d illustration. I’m sure there are many more complications amongst a 3d pipeline. But for MY workflow, this is the best software purchase I’ve ever made. It’s worth every penny and every measly couple of minutes I spend rebooting.
Welcome to the the real world of computers
May your work flow be smooth.
peace
I couldn’t help but notice that it’s been almost exactly a year since Zbrush 3 was released. Last year, both pixologic.com and zbrushcentral.com were shut down for a little while right before the release, so I’ve read in other forums. Earlier today, both sites were down for almost an hour! I know this because I was in need of some advice and trying to search the forums. My internet was working fine. Hmmmm…tick, tick, tick,…
oh man… you are playing with my emotions!!
stop it!!!
I was really needing some advice, too, but then I started searching some old forums on the Z3 release and found stuff like this:
http://www.silo3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9481&page=10
Which doesn’t mean ANYTHING, however because there’s nothing new on the pixologic site. Most of the time when a company goes offline to release something, the site is updated when they come back online. They could be preparing the site for a release in the next month or so.
Last year, they also announced a release date (for Windows, anyway) long before making it available.
I’m hoping its out by Christmas
So, still not out, huh? Okay, I’ll come back in June and check again.
Has there been any official announcement from Pixologic yet, or are they still playing games and hiding behind unofficial announcements posted here by their own staff?
They’re not playing games at all, but I wish they were. That, at least, would be something. Basically, they’re AWOL and have dumped the embarrassment onto a guy in this forum named Aurick, who is probably doing the best he can to calm the restless natives, considering that his hands are tied. Personally, I would hate to be in his position. His patience is remarkable. (Come to think of it, so is mine.) I’m managing to work without ZB3, but meanwhile I’m looking at the cool stuff others (PC’ers) are doing with it…and just waiting, waiting, waiting…
I straight jump to ZB4 wouldbe nice, as long as we are waiting/dreaming.
