I have your same plan for the future.
Naah, I just did it to pick on 'em a little. They removed it from the questions and troubleshooting section as soon as they saw it. Really, them seeing it and having a slight chuckle was my only goal. Hopefully, the Pixologic staff got a little kick out of it. Iām glad you thought my ZApple ? was funny as well!
I didnāt post it thinking it would accomplish anything, though. They know weāre itching for ZBrush already. Eventually, itāll be out, and itāll be awesome.
No need to wonderā¦Hereās the official reaction:
Haha! Oh cāmon, you know they at least got a little laugh out of it! Or at least ever so slightly smirked! It didnāt take 'em long to remove it from the list of threads, though!
Uh, I donāt knowā¦The latest images out of Pixo donāt look too happyā¦
Or they will announce ZB4 for Windows with the release date for the Macintosh to be announced following the release of the Windows versionā¦

Thankfully, I recieved personal confirmation that ZBrush has now been optimized for dual platform releases. They claimed this was the main reason itās taken so long and that it shouldnāt be a problem from now on. I guess weāll seeā¦
It would be nice to see but when you look at their history⦠also if they are changing both platforms ZB3 was beta tested by Meats Meier for half a year according to the interview with him.

Hey Pixologic,
Iāve been checking out local classes for 3D animation. Today I spoke to a professor who would be overseeing the class and he gave me the software requirements list. Hereās a snippet:
Maya 8.5
Adobe After Effects (latest version is best)
Final Cut Pro (Mac only)
Adobe Photoshop CS3
Adobe Illustrator CS3
Zbrush 3
Okay, does anyone else see a paradox here?
Iām pretty sure the prof is running one more than one machine, and heās got both platforms, but heās requiring that his students have these programs to enter the classā¦
I thought it was a typo, and told him that there was no ZB3 for Mac. He just nodded and smiled. So he expects us to buy a PC⦠to run ONE program⦠and not a cheap machine either, because last I checked ZB3 doesnāt hold up well on a $300 Dell. It would run perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro ya knowā¦
HA! good one
Iām only relaying words. Words are just words, but they spoke very confidently about the future of ZBrush on the Mac. Theyāre talented developers, I doubt theyāre lying just to bluff. The delay is because itās been rebuilt for compatibility. It still blows, but maybe it wonāt happen again.
Now why would they update the Mac past 3.1 without doing the same to Windows? After them stating the Mac update will have ānovelties and surprisesā, a dual release is the only thing left that makes sense. Itās been such a drastic delay that 3.1 is due for an update anyway.
Now back to bootcampā¦
" Come on god, answer me. for years Iām asking why, why are the innocent dead and the guilty alive? Where is justice? Where is punishment? Or have you already answered, have you already said to the world here is justice, here is punishment, here, in me. ā¦" Frank Castle
As far as surprises and novelties are concerned, Iād be happy to see Mac owners get ZB4 a year before PC users. Hell, Iād pay to see that, just turning the tables.
Itāll never happen. Iāll turn my own tables if the next version has a delay. Iāll look in the mirror and seeā¦
Iām predicting that will happen, too.
Right after these guys learn to fly.
It is a pity that they are not relaying those words to all the users, even in the Mac News (Unofficial). There was questions about Zshpere problems that they have told the Windows users that will have to wait until the Mac release has been worked on, if there is a dual platform update in the works the Windows users should also be informed of the progress.
Another month has passed.
Now back to the silenceā¦

Even so. Without supporting evidence. Iād be inclined to take anything said by anyone, at this company with a grain of salt. Especially after the āinside infoā on a February release. Which I actually believed, was a genuine estimate until the middle of April.
A ZBrush 3.1 release for the Mac could be next week or next year. And Pixologic will bullheadedly, refuse, to give the slightest hint until it drops.
So. Last night I resolved to go down the Bootcamp route. Until I saw what it costs for Vista: Ā£170 for home premium, Ā£230 for Ultimate. Plus Iād want to put it on a seperate hard drive, I dunno 70 or 80 pounds. Itās close to the cost of ZBrush again.
Now, I feel like Iām at a Bus stop. Fed up of waiting, but sure if I start walking. The Bus will appear and drive on by.
re the bootcamp route>
several options
1.go to a shop where they donāt charge you an arm and a leg for windows
ie> https://www.krcs.co.uk/pages/applecentre_nottingham
2.choose a windows operating system to suite your budget such as xp home as this is much cheaper than vista and will be just fine for zbrush
>>
https://www.krcs.co.uk/shop/categories/search/microsoft
xp home £61
xp pro £99
vista basic £60
vista ultimate £135
hard drive>
freecom external 500gig usb £72.98 from amazon.co.uk
freecom external usb 120gig drive £47 from amazon.co.uk
you could also go and get parrallels for your mac so you don;t have to boot out and into windowsā¦thoguh youāll need plenty of ram in your mac to make sure you have a good time.
simpleā¦
you can go windows for Ā£110 inc vatā¦xp or vista and with a 120 gig hd which is HUGE just for zbrush 3.1
Yeah, I was lucky to have a friend with multiple licenses to XP that he wasnāt using because he just upgraded to Vista. I wouldāve been discouraged to have to pay more as well. I would definitely ask everyone you know, you might be surprised at who has a license to spare. My buddy is a journalist and it had something to do with the disk his company gave him. Also, take note that bootcamp requires Windows to have the āservice pack 2.ā The version that I got didnāt have it and I had to add it to the disk myself with some programming tutorial I found online. It wasnāt very easy, but it worked.
I chose to partition my hard drive and it works fine, plus I only dedicated 30 gigs to Windows and ZBrush is smooth. Good luck!
ā¦Webhead, that is hilariousā¦
I guess it could be worse. You could be waiting for Diablo 3⦠sigh
