Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

I think it’s the other way around

I don’t get it???

Apple to Zbrush…

I was just searching some Apple products and accidentally hit Google image search and that’s what came up. I just posted it for the heck of it since it reminded me of my need for ZBrush on Apple computers.

Two letters way apart from each other, whatever that means…

ok now I got it. Duh!

It means zBrush comes out sooner for PC because
it’s closer in the alphabet? :stuck_out_tongue:

Waaah!
It really pisses me off how this thread suddenly became very positive with many people hinting that the release was imminent, and POOF! Nothin!

Oh, you haven’t gotten used to it yet?

x_x

Uh-uh, I know what you’re thinking…Will it take six more months, or only five?..

Here’s a 30 minute speed sculpt for the cause. I threw it together between sessions on a really large piece I’m working on. I’m posting it in Questions and Troubleshooting under “Help! Zspheres are acting crazy!”

Hahahaha this is really good. Maybe posting stuff like this to other threads will get us some attention as seems no one from pixologic bothers checking this thread anymore.

You’re right. Seems we’ve been abandoned again.

Morse code worked before

The illigitimate lovechildren of pixologic!

This week I thought I’d try and email Pixologic to get some idea of when it might be released. As usual I just got the “keep an eye on the website” reply and also “I’m sorry I can’t give you more information than that, but I just don’t have anything more to give you”.

Hmmm… sometime soon then. I think not :frowning:

I bought Zbrush 2&3 almost 1 year ago and still nothing for the mac. And ZBrush 2 doesn’t even work on intel. I’m not going to install Windows, never. And should there be ZBrush 4 someday, I’m not going to buy it in advance. Instead I will buy a competing solution for Mac and forget about ZBrush. Windows … pah, why would anyone use windows.

I dont recall anyone hinting that it was imminent but rather to put the vapourware thoughts to rest people mentioned that they have had positive news that we have NOT been abandoned and that it was most certainly coming.

There are no hints of when exactly it will be released that I am aware of within this thread.

Cheers

A few days ago I have posted a humorous comment and it was removed almost immediately, so they are checking this thread.

I have received a kind e-mail, from a Pix operator, with the reasons of the censorship. Ok, it’s not a problem for me.

I have taken advantage of this fortuitous contact and I have asked for “unconfidential & unofficial” piece of news, (please!) about a ZB3 release for mac (July?.. August?.. September?) and about a universal binary release both for mac-intel and powerpc.

I havn’t received no answer, no hope, nothing. That’s all…

I’m using ZBrush with Bootcamp and it works like a charm. I LOVE IT. I’m not happy about waiting (as you can tell from the Zsphere Apple I posted, hehe), but ZBrush is awesome enough to justify installing Windows and rebooting. It’s more about the application than the operating system. Zbrush is now my main application, so it’s a small sacrifice FOR ME. A few people said it slowed down their Mac, though. I’m on a Mac Pro (1st gen, 2g, 2.66gHz) with Leopard and XP and it works smoothly.

All in all, I’m still optimistic about the release. Not so much the release date, it could be a while, but more so the ‘update.’ They’ve already said there will be “novelties and surprises.” That could only mean an update, which could only mean a dual platform release. They simply won’t update Mac without Windows, probably ever, it’s the professional platform of the 3d world.

Think back when people where upset about the long delay of the 2.5 version and Pixologic’s silence. There are old forums of people complaining their butts off about it. Then, all of the sudden, they released ZB3, and it was a HUGE improvement with new features. If they are updating, it will be dual platform. Since that would mean updating a 14 month old Windows version, my guess is it will be a totally new version - ZBrush 4 - complete with new goodies and a new interface. So while waiting, at least we probably have some new toys to look forward to. So keep your headZ up…

Unfortunately I have a powerpc and so I can only wait…

Yeah, I’m hoping they don’t drop PPCs on the next release. I might be getting a new computer, when Snow Leopard comes out, but that’s gonna be a while. Although, knowing how slow Pixologic is moving, Snow Leopard will probably be out before ZB3/4… :frowning:
