count me in
I vote for it too, actually I demand it.
Maybe this should be articulated as a poll
and not labeled as Mac-only? I have a
feeling it would be more effective that way.
Anyway, yeah that would be nice.
But… without some real managerial reform
I think all you’re gonna see in that thread
is ‘soon’, ‘very soon’, ‘quite soon’ etc…
the problem is a fundamental one that’s
articulated in the FAQ. The concept of
closed-box, done when it’s done process
without regard or inclusion of the user
base is the root. What you’re seeing here
is merely the result of the mentality.
If they aren’t changing based on what
we’ve already articulated so far…
but hey, let’s give it a shot- if that
doesn’t work maybe some day they’ll
IPO or get some experience on the board.
Meanwhile I don’t suggest anyone here
tells their clients that estimates are flawed
and you don’t give them because you
don’t want them to be sad. Or that they
should just give you money and then
mysteriously at some time in the future
you’ll give them something and that will
make them happy. You’ll probably get
fired or man-slapped.
I’m in for sure, but I doubt it would reveal too much. I think their silence is also an indicator that there are new features and goodies that they don’t want to reveal. It’s probably a dual platform update. They certainly don’t want to undercut their surprise factor for the larger Windows user base, or us for that matter, when only the Mac users are in need of info. Even though there’s no indication of a Window’s update or any beta testing, I think the silence amongst so many requests for info is an indication of this. I’m sure that they have thousands of people to silently test a Windows update.
I disagree on that one. I think the silence is status quo.
Aurick already said there may be a couple surprises for Mac
users- it’s not a confirmation, but if they’re trying to keep a
rabbit in a bag that ain’t helping. At any rate, it’s not as though
there aren’t other things to address… or ways to speak to
the release that exclude specific features.
imho new features should come out as a patch.
job #1 should be to get 3.1 ported and in our hands.
obviously we’ll get what we get, but if I had a choice
to catch up or sit on my hands for something I don’t
know about… it’s kind of like wheel of fish:
Well, I have been silent until now but I will agree to add my voice for the sticky update.
I would also like to add that I think that the Beta should be open to any mac user… other apps do that (like the Lightwave Open Beta) and it keeps everyone happy. We understand that it is still in beta but I will put up with a few bugs to not have to reboot just to go into ZB only to reboot again to use Photoshop or any of the other apps that I don’t own for windows.
Needless to say; sign me up for the ‘Update Sticky’ petition.
For certain. Their silence indicates, that they are silent. Nothing more.
That seems like a strong possibility. The thing that sticks in my mind is how positive they appeared when stating a release in “probably late January or early February.” After that began the dark period that has already extended into mid-June–an abrupt change that signals to me that either they had struck a major difficulty, or that a high level decision had been made to go for something like what you suggest–a major upgrade that would be dual platform. Call it 3.5 or whatever. The reasons you give for their resulting secrecy in the matter seem plausible too. But of course this is conjecture and may be completely erronious.
Nothing excuses the total silence, though. There are people here rightfully begging for information. Pixologic could at least say, “okay, we’ve made a slight change in how we’re going to do this,” or whatever. After all, the spoken or written language of we humans allows great leeway for showing people that you’re on their side without giving away the store.
It almost has to be an indication of one of those two things.
It’s been 13 months so I highly doubt it will merely be a 3.1 port. Plus, they’re due for a Windows update. It would raise the frustration level even higher if they released revolutionary, awesome new features in a Windows update right after releasing 3.1 for Mac, but couldn’t get the new functions to work on the Mac. They are probably working out kinks in completely new features. You make a very good points, though.
…i don’t even know what to say…hehee, ‘you so stupid!’
I don’t think it’s going to be an as-is port either.
I think the problem is that they wrote a program
so complicated that everytime they add something
to it they have to rewrite the whole thing.
Hopefully some of their dev time has been torwards
standards and modulization…
at any rate fingers crossed

edit what this thread needs is a deck of cards,
some pretzels and a lot of beer.
You know that’s right…
or maybe they are waiting for a certain Snow Leopard
Another new thing on the front page, another depressing moment…
But isn’t SL just a speed boost & performance tweak release???
Anyway, they better not be waiting for SL, it’s not released until Jan 09 at the earliest…
You are a mean, mean person.
No not mean, just dissapointed and pessimistic after waiting since release of the PC version - and still nothing… And I can feel its turning into anger now.
I thought Snow leopard was here already! Oh, scratch that…The spots I’m seeing on my screen are from constantly staring at this forum for an update.
Others may have had similar experience as I when first Registering (and I have left out many expletives before and after the word) Zbrush 2.5 for Mac and then scrapping on to trying to get Zbrush 3 and registering that on Windblows in Fusion… I had my first taste of the Pixo corporate mentality!
Arrrrg! What an infuriating experience just registering was. As we all like to say… so UnMacLike! I did not get the warm “we love making the software and we love you for using it” attitude that I have come to expect with the typical Mac software developer. I use Zbrush 3 in Windows as infrequently as possible… I have learned much (with much more to go) about using Zbrush and there is so much I like about it… but please, let me do it on a Mac!
How arrogant of them to refuse us, Mac Zbrush Pioneers an opportunity to help them with the Beta… I would think the Beta in Mac OSX would be so much nicer to work with than in Windows… I have just about given up hope!
P.S. have any of you checked out Quidam (I am using it for taking ZBrush Models and dressing and posing… it is to me Poser (yiiiik) done right… also Pixo could learn a thing or to about service from the NSided (Quidam) Frenchies! Marvelous People! çest bon!
