Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

Kosher is happy, although he should be doing his homework and go to bed early.

Sadder Mac Face.jpg

Now you’ve done it!..You made him cry.

Nice iPhone! Oh, and I am not brainwashed! Now shut-up and let me drink my Kool-Aid!

everyone! I want you to go outside your windows and shout
I’m mad as hell and i’m not going to take it anymore!

sorry, i love that movie

but seriously, we need an update. this is a little unprofessional. companies should not leave their anxious nerdy clients (myself included) in the dark

those of you who think they might just release Z4 or Z3.5 at that event (forgot the name of the event) coming up. when is this event supposed to happen?

f~

“soon”, “very soon”, or “quite soon”

I’m not sure which one…

Siggraph…Aug!

Would that be soon,as in; Just around the corner. Very soon like; Light at the end of the tunnel. Or, quite soon, meaning somewhwre on the horizon?

either way it sounds like something on the sole of a shoe. Zbrushers held under duress. Mac host’s undeclared declamation.

Well, according to the FAQ it’s overdue, but… not really,
the lateness is artificial because there’s no such thing as on
time as the whole idea of planning is fundamentally flawed.

It’s all right here:

[http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/User_FAQ](http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/User_FAQ) "When is ZBrush3 for the Mac going to be released? ZBrush 2 for the Macintosh was released about 6 months following the windows version, I would think that this will be similar with Z3 (give or take a month or two). Meanwhile, if you can run Windows applications on your Macintosh then you can start using ZBrush 3 now by taking advantage of the free-of-charge access to the Windows version which is available to you as a Macintosh user. - Aurick What is up with specifically avoiding giving release dates? One can only speculate with regards to Pixologic and no one really knows if they avoid giving release dates on purpose. However, release dates have an inherent issue in that they often only provide an artificial time when something is estimated to be ready. They can sometimes be given with some degree of accuracy with things that have been done over and over (such as making movies), but when it comes to creating software, particularly very complex software involving a variety of different systems which all have to play nicely together, providing an artificial release date doesn't always coincide with when a particular feature (or number of features) have been added or a bug (or series of bugs) have been fixed. Because things are so co-dependent, often introducing one feature may adversely affect another. Or even fixing one bug may introduce another. So the only true answer to when something will be released, is "when it's ready". The other issue with release dates is that they create expectations which can then lead to disappointment. And if a release date is provided, but for whatever reason a piece of software isn't ready to be released, then a company has two obvious choices: 1. Release software that clearly isn't ready and then have to deal with unhappy customers who discover the release isn't everything they expected it to be, or 2. Push back a release date and then have to deal with a lot of unhappy customers because the software they want isn't ready on the day it was "supposed to be". It tends to be a no-win situation. An alternative to providing release dates is to simply release something when it becomes available. This makes customers happy, because they often weren't expecting whatever it is that was released."

Well written and well put. I have to say, I agree with their strategy 100%. I am happy with thier choice to develop this way. There’s always a double standard, a catch 22, and a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation in life … They recognize this and choose the route of quality and stability. Kudos to Pixo!!!

Just look at the astonishing work that’s being posted on a daily basis here. It speaks magnitudes to me. Let us all rejoice and love each other again!

I’m doing the happy dance now…

I think it’s called The End of the World.

Well snow leopard is a year away… so I hope thats not the problem.
I think it will be out late next month.

Pixo hasn’t always gone the route of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

In March of '07, Windows users were informed that ZBrush 3 would be out on May 15th of that same year.
They've already celebrated their 1st Anniversary with ZB3. Boy, time sure flies when your having fun, huh?

^^^^^
So not only do they get to party, but they give us the finger to rub it in…

I have a project I’m working on that’s going to be pretty time consuming. It’s going to require lots of Zbrush, and I really don’t want to switch versions mid-production. The same thing happened in school when they had to switch from Maya 6.5 to 7, and we couldn’t work for two weeks. That and I’m tired of the silent treatment I get from users on other forums when I post a WIP screenshot from ZB2. I seriously bumped a post of mine once and another user linked me to some ZB3 tutes, and that was the help I got. I know you’re there! I know you’re snickering!

… I just don’t know how many more knees to the groin I can take…

LOL ROFL

It’s one thing not to give a release date… but its a whole different story when the company just keeps their mouth shut and does not give any information or updates, especially to all of the paying customers. Everyone who paid for ZB3 for Mac should have been able to beta test.

Well I’m actually feeling a bit happy because Aurick responded to the thread. Unfortunately the message simply amounted to, “Play nice, no morse code.”
This all reminds me of this time, when I was 7, me and my sister were being babysat. At the beginning of the night the babysitter promised to take us to Baskin Robbins. An hour later we asked her what time we were going. She was talking on the phone and told us “in 45 minutes.” 45 minutes later we asked again. She was still on the phone and rather angrily told us “45 minutes!” 45 minutes after that we approached her, and asked when we were going. She ignored us. Eventually our parents got home, she got paid, and we didn’t get ice cream…

I hope this frustration that we endure for more than a year, will deserve our great creativity to make better creations than the others on PC.
I hope that Zbrush on MAc will boost our sense of creativity to push far beyond modeling capabilities on our platform… I’m still very depressed but I will comeback and work with Zbrush as far as I can, because I believe in it…

Please be strong and prepare your computers to destroy again, all those little pretentious PC users…

See ya in Hell

Boblog

I do rather accept all that.

Which is why. When things are clearly not going as expected, by anybody. The occaisional conciliatory remark, some reassuring noises laced with a modicum of appreciation. (No release dates). Just the odd bit of news on progress. Would keep customers from becoming unhappy in the first place.

It’s amazing how understanding people can be: Once you let them know what’s going on.
