Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

I fully understand that some things can take longer than anticipated. I also can understand that if Pixologic is actually trying to make Z3 work on both PPC and Intel macs, that makes it that much harder a task to accomplish.
I dig it. I can even sympathize.
What I still don’t understand is why all this need for subterfuge.
By not acknowledging how long it’s taking, do they think we won’t notice?
I’m not asking for code, or any trade secrets, just a small hint that someone is actually out there…some reassurance things are actually moving forward.
They can’t put one image up that was done with Z3 on a mac? Are they that far behind in the progress?
Heck, I’d even take a simple little pacifier at this point. Where’s the PR man, on an extended vacation? What would Pixologic be giving away by saying something like…

"We at Pixologic truly appreciate our mac customers, and how eager they are to get their hands on ZBrush 3 as soon as possible. Rest assured, we are working tirelessly toward that goal. And, we want your experience with ZBrush 3 to be exceptional, and well worth the wait. So, please continue to be patient with us as our overworked and talented team put the final touches on ZBrush 3 for mac. Thank you, and may all your brushes be Zbrushes!"

Would it really hold up progress that much to type a couple lines? Man, they must hate us.

He’s talking about emailing them each and every time we visit the thread, which is the only thing my comments are pertaining to. Of course, email them with inquiries when you wish. I’m not trying to tell people whether or not they should ever email Pixologic. I’m simply saying there’s no need to harrass them.

I agree.

james, oh, sounded like he was saying mail every 5 min
and you were saying don’t mail at all.
:roll_eyes: :-1:small_orange_diamond:-1: :small_orange_diamond::cry:small_orange_diamond:white_small_square:small_orange_diamond:large_orange_diamond:small_orange_diamond:red_circle:small_orange_diamond:warning:small_orange_diamond:o:warning: … :grimacing: dies

derek, that’s a good email - you should send it to
the PR guy so he can forward it back to us next time

edit dies again.
I think that WWDC call might be a good one…

Actually, I’ve said almost exactly that. Many times. The fact that you’re making this statement demonstrates why it’s not very helpful for me to do so. The nature of forums is such that within a few posts after you say something, about 50% of the people reading the thread no longer see what you’d written. And as soon as the thread moves to the next page (which can be as little as a few minutes in very active threads), you might as well not have said anything at all. It’s never seen anymore.

Thank you for that response, aurick. I do appreciate it.
But, with respect, I said it much more eloquently than you did.
And, don’t underestimate the value of your posts. we hang on every word.

sometimes it’s a bad thing… sometimes it’s a good thing

but, I would disagree where you’re saying it’s not helpful,
in fact every time you say it-it’s helpful. even if you say
the same thing over and over it’s at least participation
which is a good thing. it may be boring or even
arguably high maintenance but from this end it is most
certainly appreciated and if nothing else is a sign of
acknowledgement to people who are somewhat in limbo.

Saying participating is not helpful is in fact participating
which is in fact helpful. I feel better already, and I’m sure
a lot of others are glad to see you involved again even if
it is in a detatched sort of way.

It’s like a salve on a wound, isn’t it?.
All kidding aside… I think there is a perception that responses have only come when things start to get really ugly in these forums, and Pixologic is being verbally attacked, and a riot is about to break out. We just want to know our concerns as customers are validated, and that responses aren’t being used as a last resort, is all.
I don’t think we should have to be disruptive and neither do we want to just to get some official progress reports from time to time.

That does make sense and sounds exhausting to keep up with, especially with the delayed release. But hey, at least every little comment is appreciated. So, anyways, how’s the beta testing going?

I probably could’ve worded it a lot better…by the way, awesome symbols…

By my point of view, they have technical problems.

Aurick : All I want to know is - are we talking days, weeks, months or years before the release ?

At least there’s one good news: Aurick is still there, and reading the posts! Nice to see you here Aurick!!

(which by the way brings a second good news, byproduct of the first one: Pixo guys are reading the posts)

(which by the way brings a maybe not-so-good news: shouldn’t they be coding instead of reading our wandering posts?)

(which might actually bring a better news: they finished coding, are waiting for the best moment to release ZB3, and having a good laugh at us getting anxious to test it…)

(which… ok, fine, I got it, I stop here…

If aurick is the only guy they have doing everything, then we’re in serious trouble.

Also, I seriously doubt the developers are wasting precious moments of their lives searching this thread looking for witty retorts and speculations.
I honestly can’t believe I’ve wasted a year of my own life doing it. :frowning:

Consider it an investment- it’s also an
educational process and experience.
Hey maybe it’s communal too, you
make new friends no?
Not like yer groveling all by yourself

It’s not that I don’t love all youse guys and stuff. Your all like the ZBrush 3 I never had. It’s just that I could have used this time to develop my craft and make beautiful artwork. It puts me that much more behind the competition.

how much do I agree with you !!!

LOL!

crying :frowning:

somebody please make it stop…

A guess is all I have to go on right now, but I’m guessing the same, based on what I know, which is, admittedly, almost nothing. Here’s how I call it: Pixo still has no ETA for the arrival of Z3 for mac, or at least, none they are ready to reveal just yet. There are, thus far, no eye-popping images from the mac beta testers like we saw from the PC beta testers. There have been no actual progress reports to speak of.
I’d say, it’s a fair guess, this baby is not going to just slide out on it’s own:
If this baby is gonna be delivered, it’s gonna require a strong analgesic and an emergency c-section. C’mon, Pixo! Give it one last big push!

Whether we see the final release or not, I still think we will see something (if it is presentable) on or close to Monday, riding the Apple WWDC wave.

Pixologic’s silence is similar to Apple’s; with the exception of partners distributing products, spy photos and reports, large shipments, banners for conferences, and so on for users to peak at and speculate about (except for Aurick’s valued comments); hence it feels so much quieter compared to Apple’s silence.

Although it feels just as aggravating sometime, hopefully, both will satisfactorily deliver. Doesn’t it feel great to be given what you expected, and more? It’s been a while since I felt that from Apple, but it sounds like we’ll get that from Pixologic.
