Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

Okay, here’s a probable scenario:

June comes and goes and no ZB3 for Mac. Ditto July. Sigraph comes and goes and nothing. In fact, ZB3 for Mac is never released. And they do not refund our money.

So here's the question: What are you going to do about it? Seriously, what can any of us do about it? Legal action? What kind? How?

I used to counsel patience, but this has become ridiculous. Face it, when these companies have your money you're completely at their mercy. And Pixologic has certainly shown their character in this matter, or lack of same. Most of us here have watched this train wreck in slow motion, so I don't need to go into details.

I now consider the "wait" futile and have resigned myself to the monetary loss. However, my significant other, who values money highly, says I should ask if anyone here would like to go 50-50 on a hit man?

hit man might just be lil overboard. maybe hold them comments

[sorry- feel ur pain too but still, stop that!]

Zdrey, so you’d raise the spectre of a hit man for the sake of booting into XP?

Please kill me first.

First, the hitman was not Zdrey’s idea–it was that of his/her “significant other.” Second, I think said significant other was hyperbolizing. Third, it’s a stupid thing to say regardless of (1) and (2).

As for a) Mac has Z3 while PC as Z4, or b) ZB for Mac disappears without refund…

I think that both are enormously unlikely, but both would be insult plus injury and salt in an open wound and a slap in the face. I don’t think Pix is that bad… but if they are, I would be willing to participate in a class-action lawsuit for getting our money back upon the dropping of OSX support (in the case of scenario b). I seem to remember reading about Autodesk losing a lawsuit recently? And that was probably on something less ridiculous than this.

If Z3 Mac is lined up with Z4 PC, then I’ll just sell my license and move on.

Legal action would almost certainly be a costly waste of time. Besides, whatever rights we may have as UK or EU consumers, would not necessarily apply in the US. In any case. I doubt that many, actually want a refund. The impression I’m getting is that. Most of us just want some explanations.

The most effective pressure to bring to bear on Pixologic. Would likely be in the form of a petition. Or that they receive a very large number of e-mails. Bearing a consistent request on a common theme.

Asking the impossible, (definite, even projected release dates), or voicing recriminations. Wouldn’t be very productive imo.

i know 2 guys that can “help” pixologic see things from a “new perspective”

S.O. was making a joke. Fool that I am, I told her what’s going on here, and she reacted with her usual sledge hammer sense of humor. You had to be there. If I offended or shocked anyone, sorry.

As for the refund, I would take it. I don’t know much about the law, but I can’t imagine that you can take a customer’s money and then leave them hanging for a year or more. I guess most people here, in spite of the gripes, are willing to wait until doomsday. Some, though, may have been taken beyond the point of no return, and that includes me.

I guess it depends on how much you want ZB3. I no longer need it, could live without it, and wish I had that option. Whatever initial enthusiasm once existed has vanished like a vapor. The lone value that remains for me is a lesson that I hope I’ve finally learned.

Pixologic have already ported the next windows release to OSX and it will be available within days for both PC and Mac users.

…now that’s funny…

wow, the new ui is amazing !

i knew the wait was worthwhile

I wonder if the delay has anything to do with the mac and pc platforms being side stepped entirely for a new exciting platform…enter Zbrush 5… Zbrush_5_Controller.jpg

Or what about the stripped down version

Hell’s Kitchen.

Sorry, Mac guy.

LOL Actually, Gordon Ramsay prefers to torment his staff, not his customers.
I don’t think he would be a world class chef if he treated his customers that poorly.
Still, how anyone could work for a guy that screams profanity and insults in your ear all day, I don’t know.

Just wondering how many Mac users have seen this page:

I found it really interesting.

You should all get ready for zb3 on mac anyday now. Why? well last night I finally caved and put windows on my mac so I am guessing now that I’ve done that, they’ll release the mac version and I will have abused my mac for no reason.

James
(now I gotta square away the wacom pressure thing on parallels)

Yeah I’m aware of it. I don’t know if it comes close on polycount handling and performance of Zbrush but the drawing tools look awesome.

hello… anyone home ?
