Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

Yes. You’re stance and intention are both quite clear.

Which is why. I’m kindly asking. That you desist in your attempt to sabotage this thread. So that it can stay focused. And allow waiting forum users, to voice their concerns. And offer constructive suggestions as to how they can be met.

In my experience you do. I used to work in marketing at one time and he who shouted loudest got attention. And Marketing will be the ones who release information to the users. Without their nod we won’t here anything. So anyone in Marketing at Pixologic join the thread and let us have an update!!

My lips are sealed if it’s felt I over stated my utter frustration as a mac user.:o

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Pixologic give us something to hold on too. I’m a mac user since 1985. A lightwave owner since 2000 and user since 1998. I’m a ZBrush/Silo owner since last year. Please let us have what you’ve given the windows users for far longer than us. I see all these great tutorials posted about 3.1 and I’d love to be doing what they are showing me can be done.

Here’s hoping you give us a date that your’e gonna stick to!

BTW when I said Lightwave user I didn’t mean I’m addicted to it in a bad way and need to go get some help

I think that it’s obvious mac users that have already paid have some right to complain here. I have pixologic’s back too, but only in the sense that it’s our fault for buying a product that wasn’t out yet with no release date. That, as customers, is our mistake unless you don’t mind using it with bootcamp, ect. I don’t mind, personally, but it isn’t compatible with everyone’s set up and workflow.

On the other hand, they haven’t surfaced in this thread with any information for quite some time. That’s why people are upset.

So while I don’t think Pixologic needs to be kicked around, I do think we deserve authentic updates on a regular basis. Just popping up once a week would keep people from getting mad.

The freakin’ thing IS in beta testing ,though. So it’s close…

superglitcher— i agree with your minimalist ways, and its sad that i switched to pc, but i felt like i had no choice, most software prioritizes with pc in most cases, at least thats how i saw it :frowning:

Yes but things are changing. Iphone is selling like cheap crack. And it’s leading people into buying MAC’s. That with the fact that MAC changed to intel based chips and the fact that it has a very nice OS. Is causing people to change over to mac. Plus when you add in the fact that right now vista is crap on a stick. You can see why apply is getting more market share. For me it’s just not a option to work under windows and more. My work flow is 30% faster in OSX. OS X is just a very slick and usable out of the box OS. The image preview and front row are just uber sexy and seem to put my mined in a more creative state. When ever I HAVE to work in windows and see that silly Start button I just want to puke. I don’t hate windows, it’s just that I’ve been abused by it so much. I’m sure in time OS X will find away to get under my skin in a bad way. But for right now it’s a rose in my hand and I want to share it with the world.

“Runs around skipping and dancing”

I think most everyone here is understanding,
attempting only to communicate that a little
bit of ‘inclusion’ in the process would help to
remind us why we are, and should remain loyal
customers. Some people may be angry or
‘kicking’, but that is in no way the thread tone.

It's important to remember that we're not talking about an NPO that's developing cold fusion to warm the homeless of the world- this is a for-profit company making business tools. We are part of the user-base, in fact we are true business partners. It is our responsibility to set the expectations in a free market society-to communicate our needs in order to maintain healthy relations.

A healthy user base is critical, equally important
as sheer innovation. You will not always be an
innovation leader (thank you mr. free market),
and to rely on such a stance is a bad foundation.
A wise company will build a loyal customer base
that will support them when they are ahead, and
when they are close behind. A loyal customer
will point out better business practices in order
that their business partner will remain successful
and prosper.

A house divided against itself will not stand.
(Consumer + Supplier)

What some seem to interpret as angst is truly
an impassioned call for reform from loyal
customers who value their investment, wish to
protect it, and for it to thrive.

Ah, June. Wasn’t Zbrush 3 supposed to come out 4 months ago?!?!?!

I thought this argument was already answered in the old thread. Other companies have given free upgrades: Luxology, Newtek, and yes, even Apple has given free upgrades, just to name a few.
They usually communicate pretty freely, too, and without customers having to beg, and plead, and threaten to hurt themselves in some disgusting way unless they get some small sign, some tiny morsel, some minute little drop of information. The only time we hear any news, it’s usually after a near riot, and it’s vague, or misleading, or just plain wrong. That’s what’s so frustrating. I hope in this case, no news is good news, but I’m certainly not holding my breath anymore.

Free upgrades to revisions or full versions? The companies you listed do not give free version updates of their core products and even charge for updated builds e.g. 10.4 - 10.5.

Apple does not communicate freely about their updates. I know lots of iPhone owners that would love to know when they will get an update to their phones. I remember when After Effects didn’t work on Vista properly and lots of folks were wondering when Adobe would release an update.

I was referring to updated version releases not builds anyway but of course you can’t rationalize with the irrational.

As usual, you are the first to insult people in this forum. You are probably one of the reasons the last thread got closed, because you come in here and start insulting people, and get everybody angry and then tempers start flaring.
Now, if we can stay on topic and skip the insults; You’re totally wrong when you say those companies don’t give free build/point updates. They’ve done it several times Here’s just a small list of free update/upgrade announcements for your consideration:

Also, do you know how much the stand alone program now known as COLOR used to cost before Apple bought it and bundled it with FINAL CUT STUDIO?

Obviously, no company is perfect, but you really think Pixologic has been more upfront and open to their mac customers than the companies I mentioned? You’re kidding me, right? Brad Peebler, Chuck Baker, Jay Roth, and Steve Jobs, respectively, all communicate more openly and regularly to their Mac customers than Pixo does.

Boy, this post is getting interesting…

Don’t forget the price cut on Shake
heh

Sure hope z3 comes out soon…

Sure, they have had free updates in the past but it’s my understanding that this is Pixo’s standard policy… not some 1 off. The post you sent me about Final Cut was some crap going from 5.1.1 to 5.1.2, which is not a major build.

I had no idea that Lightwave gave a free update once in their existence. I never said I thought the free update policy was a good idea, BTW. I also gave some specific products as examples.

Let me just remind everyone how Steve Jobs said that “Everybody gets the Ultimate edition” when he was talking about the Leopard release. What he didn’t tell us was that people updating from OSX 10.4.x to Leopard would not be able to use iPhoto, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut, iMovie, iDVD, along with almost all of the bundled Mac iProducts unless you purchased them. I wouldn’t doubt if this caused a little shift in the Pixo timeline itself.

Hey, if I’ve insulted you somehow, please point out something I said.

You don’t think the free Final Cut HD upgrade was a good example?
Since, you said the companies I mentioned charged for updates like 10.4 to 10.5, I felt small updates were also appropriate examples, as well as, the others.
True, you did give some counter examples, although, Adobe wasn’t one of the companies I mentioned.
Again, no company is perfect, Newtek has had their problems, but they have regularly given free updates to Lightwave, as well as, free technical support. Not every software company offers that. You should be sure of your facts before you attack others for having a different opinion than you - It would cut down on the arguments, and bad feelings. You insulted me by calling me “irrational.”

Look. No one is denying that Pixologic, give free point updtes on their products. But it’s not the issue on the table here.

The issue is communication, and how to get some going. So that those of us, who’ve been kept waiting for a long time. Can get some reassurance.

I totally understand. That there may be good reasons for the silence. And that Pixologic may not want certain things about the Mac release widely known. Hence, my earlier suggestion:

That they make a private area on the forum. Where purchasers can register and sign NDA’s. So that authoritative information, can be given out in a controlled manner.

Please, constructive suggestions.

You guys are just looking for stuff to call out as offensive or not up to par or lowly compared to other companies standards. You’re jealous that Windows has a release, period… I have a Mac and PC and I bought ZBrush at the same time they announced the Mac release woudl be out some time soon. I weighed my options and read the posts about the issues releasing 2.5 and decided to purchase it anyways. I’m not complaining though… I am happy with what I paid for cause that’s what I got.

being a windows user with absolutely no interest in the mac platform this particular beef need not concern me. though i am entirely sympathetic to your plight since it is a consequence of the root of the problem. the bottom line : without any real competition pixologic can do as they damn well please. there’s no evolutionary imperative that they behave any different. it’s an unsettling thought that in this age where nearly every organic form created for film or games is likely to pass through a digital sculpting phase we have two legitimate apps to choose from. both of which going largely without updates or info for roughly the past year

the only voice a consumer truly has is filtered through their wallet. without any real choice. as now. it becomes a muffled pleading gag

it seems a pretty sure bet that if there were other contenders pulling focus away from zb you would have heard something from pixologic long before now

You think it’s all just jealousy? It’s been over a year we’ve been waiting for something that we could really use in our work with almost no explanation of when we can expect it to be released. That doesn’t seem like a legitimate gripe to you?

lol, jealousy?

Please. You, sir, are in no position to dictate to anyone their own emotions.

And paying for something and not getting a return on it for a year would probably upset anyone. <_< ;;

kosher is right !

you guys are a bunch of cry babies… how dare you expect to receive a product after paying for it, a year + !! its just silly
after all, pixologic " never" said anything about " coming soon " on the website
you bought at your on risk, been free market and all !

also to expect pixologic to “communicate” to its costumers and to demand on this thread for them to do so is just offensive… and disruptive to the community in general

if you guys are not happy, well jump ship and …?

i am with you kosher and join on your plead to ask for this negative & disruptive thread to be closed !

thank you
