Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

You know how many obstacles I could’ve overcome while learning ZBrush 3 for 1+ years?

the pixologic home page sure looks beautiful now. can’t wait to have that little icon on my dock. finally

Congrats Macs0rz and Pixo.

awesome news, can’t wait.

Curious if anyone might know if Zapplink will work with 3.12 on the mac?

I am also confused what people are saying about how you go about transferring your temporary PC license back to the mac - that you should just register the upgrade again from the Mac 2.0 version to the 3.1 - even though you already did that when going to the PC version? Hopefully they will make the process more clear when the time comes.

You just have to give your cleverbridge reference to be in the process. It has always been easy with Pixo ( I mean the upgrade process )

What is cleverbridge? Is that who you bought it through?
Because mine was through “Element 5” or some such thing.

For some people this is Digital River, some other Element 5 or Cleverbridge …
You just got a reference number to put now in the upgrade form.
This is it !
At least this is what I’ve understood

Correct. It also doesn’t have to be your first order number. For example, if you originally bought version 1.51 then upgraded to 1.55b, then Z2 and then also received the temporary PC license of Z3 you would have a total of four reference numbers; one for each version. The most recent is the only one you really need. Although if you lost the record of it you can always use one of the older reference/order numbers.

Would the FIRST of those four reference numbers work just as well? Because I just since in my reference # from Zbrush 1.55. Should I look for my most recent one?

I mean, would that make it any easier?

Might as well get all the niggely questions out of the way now, on the 29th do you rekon all the temp licenced people will be contacted by pixo about the download? or will we go fishing? Just so I know wheather or not to be sitting there hovering over the download button on said monday!

29 days to go ladies and gentlemen!!!

…edited cause it really dont matter…

Don’t get me wrong, but if you haven’t got an intel mac by now, isn’t it about the time to buy a new computer anyway? I meen, the lifespan on a computer is typically around 2 - 3 years after 3 years its outdated anyway.

Actually computers are outdated as soon as you push the Buy now button :stuck_out_tongue:

You could buy a used intel mac, then you have saved a little… Or you could buy a PC - they hardly cost anything (quality is also almost nothing in some cases though)

AngelDude, sometimes your mac dealer will have used computers for sale too. When I bought my Mac Pro last week the salesperson said they had a used iMac (Intel) 24" for $1000.

The Imac would run ZBrush just fine IMO. Just a thought!

pushing up the thread!..

btw… if you’re a mac user, don’t wait until sept 29 to start the upgrade process to Mac ZB 3.12…

DO IT NOW!!!

cheers

also, start checking out the zwiki and please don’t forget to use the forums search functions once you get your z on.

So the question has been swirling around my head since this last announcement. At Siggraph Aurick announced that Zbrush 3.5 would be released for both platforms this fall. He also said that existing Mac users would get the free upgrade, with more informaiton to come shortly. Okay, cool… now all of sudden we get a press release saying that we’ll be getting Zbrush 3.12 for Mac… What happened to 3.5? This is all really, generally screwy. Was the 3.5 news a Pixologic press release or an Aurick press release?

santo… it’s 3.5 in december not fall. we get 3.12 on sept 29th and a free upgrade to 3.5 in december. assuming those dates are doable.

[edit: not sure where i got december. the official post from aurick reads 4th quarter.]

Well if that timeline plans out, I’ll have to congratulate Pixologic for doing what they said they would. They are releasing 3.12, as they promised… a year late. But it certainly is screwy that they’re releasing 3.5 only a couple of months later. So if Aurick said 4th quarter 2008, that roughly translates to, what, October 2009?

unless 3.5 is almost done already but they can give mac users 3.12 in the meantime because the cocoa rewrite is finally finished.

exactly!..:+1:

the mac version is code ready now to match the current windows version and seieng as the mac people have waited SO long they should release it as soon as poss…

now that zbrush can be devloped on both platforms at the same time the 3.5 will arrive on the same day and no need for lengthy re writes for porting code created on windows for mac osx.
