does Auricks post mean they will be releasing Z3 for mac before Dec. now or just announcing the new features for the release? i am content to wait until december, but damn that would be sweet if it is coming sooner.

It sounds like ZBrush 3.5 for PC and MAC (intel) will be out before Xmas… wether there is a MAC 3.1 build before that is a totally separate issue. I doubt it.
It sounds like OSX v3.1, however close they got it, and OSX v3.5 are miles apart code wise.
definitely, they properbly even changed the coding language from carbon to cocoa,
which is properbly why it only supports Mac Intel. As Apple also drops PPC support with Snow Leopard
And that actually increases the chances for a 64bit version, since cocoa in leopard and snow leopard is 64 bit or can be 64 bit… 
this is just speculation however, but imagine the joy of working with zbrush in 64 bit.
So yes i think we can safely assume that 3.1 is completely off the table.
We’ve waited this long and a little longer won’t hurt especially since it’ll be a brand new version, and hopefully tuned to snow leopard (as much as possible at this time)
It would actually wish that Autodesk did the same, HOLD of Maya 2009 for mac for another 6 months and the release it tuned for snow leopard in 64 bit… i mean it’s still carbon when they should’ve changed it to cocoa with 2008… but i’ll guess we will get there next time…
I know i’ve said pixo could learn from Autodesk about making deadlines, but the more i think about this and how it’ll eventually pan out - it seems to be the other way around.

I think i come back to this forum just to torture myself…as i sit typing this reply from my Mac G5 NON-Intel machine…MAN, its SOOOOOOoooo old. I think the ZBrush 2.5 shoulda came with the “FREE upgrade and Crowbar so you can break into your own house and fake getting your Mac stolen to get a new one from insurance”. That woulda been considerate…i swear.
…and they post stuff like this…i’m gonna rob a bank to get a new G5…thanks Pixo!!
