lol… true that, james, they could be the same. surely hope not.
There sure is a lot of /b/tards around here lately. Ah well…
Anyway, what day is this today at pixologic? (seriously, we are global, timezone, people, timezone!)
Are they supposed to release the news this week’s friday or last friday?!
AMEN to that Brotha!
After waiting to hear good news at Siggraph, like many of you I was very disappointed. So after hearing the news that we may now get 3.5 sometime in December(keep your finger crossed), I couldn’t wait any longer and have decided to try running 3.1 under bootcamp. It took me over 6 hours to backup my system and install Windows, most of that time was actually spent installing windows, which by the way, it’s not a very straight forward thing to do compare to how easy mac OS x is to install. After I finally got Windows running on my imac, I installed zbrush with no problem, until I try to hook up my tablet. It just didn’t work. So I launch internet explorer to download the Wacom driver, but the computer totally froze, so I restarted the computer and try it again, and again for about 3 times, than I just gave up so frustrated that I just wanted to smash the computer to pieces, but I than realized that it wasn’t the computers fault, IT WAS WINDOWS THAT ITS JUST SO DAM DIFFICULT TO GET TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU. Now I have windows installed, but still can not use Zbrush. I have wasted so much time trying to get zbrush running under Bootcamp, that I don’t feel like wasting more time trying to trouble shoot Windows. I guess I have to wait until Pixologic decides to release zbrush for mac, or Mudbox is available for the mac, whichever comes first.
Sorry for the long post, just needed to vent.
frank sorry to hear your troubles. my own windows experience has been nothing but good. when i install the os(which i do often because i like it clean) it usually only takes about 30mins. I’ve never had the BSOD in over 10yrs of using it, the only time i’ve ever gotten the system to lock up were in regards to two things, video drivers and .NET 2.0. I know XP like the back of my hand, probably better, i’ve learned a lot about computers and windows over the years because i choose to teach myself instead of leaving it up to others to sort out. Of course i’ve been using computers for almost 28 yrs though.
Your story scared me so much that I stay under parrallels. Its limited, but the instalaltion came almost well and IT WORKS so I do not dare this Bootcamp even if I could get the full use of my memory.
Actually it wasn’t the computer or windows.
I’ll let YOU decide what the other factor may have been.
Oh dear, here we go again
didn’t Aurick say that they aimed for at announcement at the beginning of this week, when friday last week wasn’t possible??
are we already back to the old days??
I’m really really anxious to see or hear something about the new release as well as were we stand with the mac port
Yes but he also said that the announcement aboutZB3 and Mac Intel will be made on this coming Friday. It’s not clear whether he’s talking about one or two different announcements though.
Does that include the 3.5 features?
well i guess that clears things up a bit ;), now i don’t have to constantly refresh the forum or pixologic.com until friday night
While that didn’t specify, I would perceive that as meaning friday is in fact the Siggraph & Mac/PC 3.5 announcement, not just separate Mac Intel info. Can’t wait!
Considering it takes Pixologic so long to say anything about anything, I would hazard a guess that they will say it all in one go.
Thanks spaceboy for your concern. I feel the same way about macs, I have been working with them since 1990. But I’ve never had to deal with PCs so I’m in the dark when comes to troubleshooting them. Right now I just don’t have the time or patience to try to make it work. For now I’ll stick it out until we get a viable mac sculpting solution.
I’d be the first one to admit that when it comes to dealing with PCs, I have no idea how to make them work, but does it have to be so difficult to get something done. I mean, all I wanted to do was launch IE, and it would lock up on me every single time. So call me ignorant or whatever you want, but this shouldn’t have to be so difficult to do. But thanks for pointing that out, sometime it’s easier to blame someone else for your own ignorance.
I wish that I were totally lacking in morals. That way I could illegally download Windoze and be happily running ZBrush. Silly old me with my antiquated sense of right and wrong. I just refuse to spend money to support a company whose product is crapola.
Some people claim to have almost 30 years experience using computers. That’s great. Rock on, dudes! I have enough problems learning the intricacies of any given program, let alone fractionating my hard drive, and adding an alien operating system.
I’m planning on upgrading to a Macrosoft this December as soon as Pixologic comes through but I reserve the right to feel like I got the old bait and switch routine.
Lucky for Pixo, they have a unique product which no other software can touch or I would drop this company forever.
Awww, shucks. I can’t stay mad at you, Pixo…
They communicate so seldom, they actually ANNOUNCE their ANNOUNCEMENTS regarding their upcoming product refreshes.
And I actually got excited… until I actually thought about what I was getting excited over.
HAhahahahaha… .Bwhahahaha… I thought these lines were soooo funny!!!
ZBrush 3.5 will be a FREE upgrade to all registered users (PC and Mac).
This will be the first unified version of ZBrush. That means that it will be released concurrently for Windows and Mac (Intel).

upgrade for mac users?     gawd… i’ve forgotten how to even open up zbrush
