Mac OS X 3.12 Upgrade Support Center - Read Initial Post Before Posting

Thanks for that info, aurick. I appreciate that!

I wasn’t watching the troubleshooting thread, and I suppose I should have been.

Anyway, it MAY be redundant now, but I just re-sent all of the pertinent information to the ‘mac3support’ address, since I wasn’t quite sure what was going on - other than the fact I hadn’t received a link.

At any rate, no big deal. I shall go now, and choke myself.

And what are you doing here so late!? Go get some rest! Sure earned your pay today, huh??

Good grief, this is ridiculous. Cleverless is one messed up company. Apparently a LOT of us didn’t get the links emailed to us.

I’ve never seen anything this screwed up just trying to purchase software.

the help is down also for me. rendering crashes, about 6 now of 15. I thought it may be my old lights but I have since ruled that out. I am using fog. fog textures (2). 50-70% blur x2 doc size. 3 million and change poly count. I have my multi processor set to 4. 3223 mem setting. (my extra ram is in the mail). softz. depth cue. floor.

sorry aurick. I found the link you left after I posted this. I sent it out to them.

I’ve got the same problem, among others. After creating a Macro to resize the document, every time I run the Macro this happens (see attached image).

In the 6 hours I’ve been playing around with Zbrush 3.12, it’s crashed unexpectedly about 4 times. I wasn’t doing anything special - I’m a complete noob. The last crash happened while using the smooth tool on DemoHead (and no, I hadn’t subdivided it even once). I’ve emailed support, but I don’t know what they can do about “program quit unexpectedly” errors…

It seems to me this version was released prematurely (or they released a bad compile?). I’m not doing anything special (working my way through “Introducing Zbrush” by Sybex). The “Help” menu doesn’t bring up the correct version (pulls up Help for Zbrush 2), and so far I’ve found one tool that, when hovering over with Ctrl, brings up an error window instead of an informational window. I don’t see how these could have been missed during beta testing.

thanks and i did. as stated in the message you deleted. Incase some one else had the same problems. but then again … :td: :td: thanks for all of your deleted help! you must not want to help.

I thought it would go a bit more smoothly.
Anyway, I should post along with the other people that I haven’t received the upgrade email.
I’ve sent the info needed on the email address given by aurick but somehow I’m not that optimistic. We’ll see.

Me, and every other mac user has waited over a year for ZB3 to come out on the Mac. I finally got an email to download it, and of course the download failed and I had to wait another day.

I just installed the app, finally ready to get to work when… I find that ZB3 for Mac is only for Intel Macs only. I gotta tell ya. In the words of John Stewart… I feel like pixologic just took a big **** on my chest.

I was told back in May of 2007 that I could use the windows versions under bootcamp until the Mac version came out, and I told pixologic staff that I didn’t have an intel mac, to which they replied: when ZB3 comes out it was going to be Universal Binary, and that’s why it’s taking longer to develop, so just hang tight and it will be out soon. Fast forward 16 months…

I think what is apparent now is that you scum bags decided to do it for Intel long ago, and you waited, figuring most Mac users would have Intels by now, so you would be able to justify only making it for Intel Macs. Piggy backing your release in time with Adobe CS4 which is only for Intel makes it seem much more legitimate, however Adobe has been releasing UB versions for several versions of their creative suites, so it’s understandable for them to switch. At least they didn’t leave users with powerpc Macs out to dry.

What is the purpose of lying to the people who buy your products? We’re the ones who actually spend the hard earned cash instead of most of the users who steal it. Students steal it. Professionals steal it. Even people with companies steal your software and everyone knows it.

And since I am not just some half-a-moron who works out of some hut and poorly models orcs for kicks, and I actually know people in this industry and others, you can be damn sure the press will be informed, even if they don’t give a ****. More and more you’re all cut from the same cloth. The brown cloth.

Bottom line, you lied to a paying customer, and if you lied to me, I’m sure you lied to others.

Truthfully, I’d rather continue to pay other artists to do portions of projects that require Zbrush-type work, and wait to develop my own proprietary 3D paint software, rather than give your company another damn dime. I’d rather pour inordinate amounts of money into THAT, rather than allow you to profit from me.

And if you’re wondering why I just don’t go buy an intel mac, my powerpc that I spent $15,000 on does what I need it to, and I run a small place, even though we do jobs for big companies, we don’t have the money to go drop a stack of thousands for new Intels.

And so, I’ll leave you with a final thanks. Thanks for Zbrush 2, which had the worse UI/workflow designed by man, so bad in fact that I, who have taught myself everything from music production to maya, couldn’t halt my projects to learn it, which is what I would have needed to do to get any real use out of that clunky monstrosity. And thanks for making me wait for version 3 which actually seems much, much better, only to find out I can’t use it. You’re my heros.

Holy Crap!!! How bad could Pixologic actually get? I really feel for ya man. This sort of behaviour is totally unprofessional from a supposedly reputable company.

You can guarantee that the same mac people who have been wanting ZB3 for so long have also been writing similar requests to both SkyMatter and now Autodesk about Mudbox.

I too was told that I could run ZB3 on an intel Mac. But guess what? It runs like absolute crap and is totally unusable to a professional. Plus the extra expense of windows emulation software just to run it? How stupid is that.

If Pixologic would wake up to themselves I would consider buying their software.
However, if these sorts of things are going to continue I would prefer to track down and run a Dodgy copy on BootCamp until MudBox is released on OSX.

Oh, and if you get into some dev work on a competitive application please let me know because I would be more than willing to help out.

It’s been roughly 12 hours since I sent my email request to [email protected] and I have received nothing. Nada. Zip

Should I wait longer, should I send another email, or should I resort to some sort of arcane voodoo practice and slaughter a goat to appease the fire gods?

I’m open to suggestions, because I’m a patient man, but this is getting pretty weak now.

Man. I should have known better then to even wait up.

This is a freaking joke, I’m seriously pissed off now, after getting a confirmation email, it goes and gets lost or something, A stupid big mess, Pixo you really have hit the bar on possibly the worst customer service in history!!! I have sent on the email to macsupport thingy, NOT THAT I SHOULD HAVE HAD TO!!! and now wont be able to get my hands on the program till tomorrow, thanks again Pixo for fudging up on this whole fiasco!

Aurick, thank you (sincerely) you’ve been there for us and hopefully will be able to rest now, apologies for the outburst!

I don’t understand what the hell is going on. I sent an email 13 hours ago, according to this thread it has been ‘processed’, or has been sent out in a ‘batch’.

I don’t have it. Something has screwed up your end.

I receive every other bulk email that I am subscribed to (newsletters and such), so it’s not my ISP. Something at Pixo is obviously borked. Your system had absolutely no problems in accepting and receiving my money, I would appreciate the same courtesy with the delivery of my purchase.
My case number is 50344.

Am I just wailing at the wind here, or is anybody there at all?

My email to [email protected] was sent at 12:23p Pacific time on Thu (Oct 3rd). My upgrade case number was 50964. I have confirmed a successful send in the Exchange server logs for my domain. I also have full control over the Exchange server’s quarantine areas, etc. and none have seen inbound emails from Pixologic or Cleverbridge in regards to my upgrade.

I have yet to receive a response to that email, nor any processing of the original upgrade case (50964). At this point, after witnessing Aurick making comments about having processed all email to Mac3Support received on Thu, I have serious concerns about the veracity of any of the statements coming from Pixologic regarding the entire upgrade situation.

Where is my upgrade?

I dont think so!

I guess something must of happened.

Heres hoping it will be fixed and sent when I wake up (4am now)

Hear hear, I have used the same email since regestering and cant see how on this one thing, this quite important thing, it can be screwed up, I hate to repeat myself but I think jwiede said it best.

Where is my upgrade?

Same boat here. Sent my details to the mac3 email at 8pm UK time, midday PT. Went to bed - now nothing.

It’s nearly 1am PT so I assume I won’t get a sniff of an email until about 6pm here - thankfully I’m out for cocktails and a curry tonight so I can forget about this whole sorry debacle for a while.

Given that I can’t run ANY version of ZBrush on my new MacPro which I bought specifically for that purpose (and no, I’m not paying to install bloody Windows), it’d be nice if someone could at least let me know if my name is in the system… somewhere.

And to anyone else out there remembering the ‘ZBrush for Mac OSX out on the 29th’ page and now looking forlornly at the date, I feel your pain.

Hi Aurick, I sent my details through to mac3support at 7:18pm BST (11:18AM) US Pacific, and I still have not recieved anything. You said that all requests before 4pm Pacific should have been dealt with. Should I resend?

many thanks

on a lighter note I think I’m going to go and make senior member without ever having posted an image  no I’m not going to spam the forums, just a thought to lighten the dark dank mood I’m in, it seems there are alot of people who are stuck with me in this sinking boat, we should all go for cocktails, I’ll have a sex on the beach

(still     )
