Mac News (Unofficial) (update on page 15)

Glad to hear of this! I’m definitely hoping it comes by the end of this month. Switching to Windows on my Intel Mac gave me the ability to use ZBrush 3, but I can’t take advantage of ZApplink since my Photoshop is running on OSX. So, this is very good news (even if unofficial!)

I look at this philosophically… At work I use XSI and 3dsmax along with photoshop and zbrush. At least zbrush is coming out for my mac! Unlike 3dsmax who seem to regard mac development as something akin to stepping in dog poop…

I can finally get windows off of my mac

I would hate to limit my mac so much by leaving windows off it. Now I can run pretty much any app out there if I so choose rather than having to pick a camp to stick to.

Mind you my Windows partition is blocked from any access to the net.

Cheers

Should like to know how many windows-partitions will be deleted after the Mac-release of ZB. 2008/02 will be ‘ZB-Asta la Vista’-day

I personally never said hello to Vista. I stuck with XP before buying my Macs and for me personally I like the multiple options.

I had the same way of thinking when I bought zbrush2 for mac when 3 was out for pc’s. But in practice it doesn’t really work. With parallels you can’t work with a tablet (even with the workaround) on zbrush and sometimes the screen redraw would start having problems meaning you couldn’t really see what you were doing. So then I thought why not try a windows partition through boot camp. Well that works real nice but I barely use it… The hassle of booting up on windows and not having all your other programs and files on the windows side is just plain silly. At least for me. So I 'll just do the waiting game and hope that the mac version will come out soon. I even bought 150euro or so of tutorials but I haven’t watched them yet because I’m still waiting…

Just a note. My wacom table works fine with the Parrallels. I just installed the drivers for PC. I had the opposite experience with bootcamp (redraw problems). Users seems to have varying reports, favoring one or another.

Anyway, It’s Feb. I thought ZB3 for Mac was coming out this month.

I’m actually quite disappointed in this huge delay. I saw the trailer for ZB3 a year ago and have been waiting for 6 months since it came out. This is going to be 3.1, right?

Is Pixologic going to start caring more about their Mac users after this? Or are we going to have to wait 3 months after 3.2 comes out on PC to get it on a Mac?

Can’t wait till the end of this month though!

heard any news on this subject, as of late?

Here is a recent email response i got today from the pixologic regarding the release date of zb3 for mac.

Hi there,

While we haven’t set an official release date, yet, we are planning to release ZBrush 3 for Mac before the end of the month.

Sincerely,

Pixologic ZBrush Support

Hopefully comes out when my tax return arrives.!!!

That’s good news. I can’t wait.

That information is not necessarily accurate. It states that ZBrush will be released this month, when that may not prove to be possible.

What I said last week remains the most current information that is available: We are still on track for a February release. I am still guessing that it would be toward the very end of the month, though. And keep in mind that it could be delayed if any unforseen issues arise.

In short, we are doing everything possible to achieve a February release. But if it comes down to February vs. Quality, the latter will win.

either way, it’s coming out soon! looking forward to it. I agree. The last thing you want, is a bug fix update right after you release it…

Sounds promising though.

Cheers

I don’t suspect any crusades if things get pushed back a little bit (which I have learned to expect - it keeps me from being dissapointed by reality).

I think I speak for everyone when I say we’re grateful for the coming mac release and that most anxiety that surfaces in this thread is merely the pent-up anticipation of a great product, if anything it reflects how much you guys are doing/have done right and how important this release is to so many people.

Thank you, keep it up + now I’ll go back to feeling like a 5yr. old on Christmas eve…

Well said, Super Glitcher!

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Hmmm… 2 weeks to go until the end of feb and nothing to say v3 mac won’t be released by then. Fingers crossed.

Z3 for Mac is going to be brilliant.I am hoping displacement mapping will be a bit less hit and miss in v3.

I have a dual quad with 16g ram on the way as well

Is there a Z3 manual?
