Mac News (Unofficial) (update on page 15)

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to pass along the most current information that I have concerning the Mac version. I know that this affects a great many users, and so wanted to be able to say something as soon as possible – even if that something is not official.

The development team is hard at work on a version of ZBrush 3 for the Mac. I can’t reveal any specifics about the programming, optimization or testing status, but it’s estimated that the Mac version will be released in January or February of 2008.

Please keep in mind that this info is coming from me in an informal capacity rather than being an official statement by Pixologic. In other words, if it proves to be wrong, I’m the one that you get to shoot.

I will update this post with more information as I’m able to. Thank you for your patience to date. I am also going to leave this thread open for posting in. Please keep your responses courteous, however.

Thanks!

Edit: Most current update is on page 13. For the post, click here.

It’s good to hear some news emerging about the Mac version. Eventhough it’s informal, it’s much better than getting the silent treatment.
ZB3 native under Leopard = pure bliss! No more Parallels, no more Windows…

Much appreciated Aurick! :+1:

any news is good news. thanks for getting the info.

Hooray! Parallels works really well, but I can’t wait to run ZBrush on my desktop at home. Plus, I can crank up the poly count! Woo hoo!!!

Thanks for the information.

Non official news from someone “inside” is better than no news at all… Thanks a ton Aurick, and we all know that there can be delays, problems etc in production so if it is delayed then its understandable, as long as theres some words and not just silence.

Thanks again, this is definately one thread I will keep an eye on

Leopard will soon purr

Excellent! This is wonderful news. There will be light to see at the end of the tunnel, once we get there.

This is great news. Not necessarily becuase pixologic will hit the date, but finally we can look forward to something and be dissapointed starting later instead of constantly.

This info, although unofficial, is greatly received. It only tells us what we were guessing anyway, but at least we get to shoot Aurick if things go wrong in the meantime…

So a March/April release it is then…

Great!
There is no way in the world I use windows just to work with zb 3.
I was planning to switch to Modo. But hearing this today … I guess we can wait a few more months. Plus I like zb 2 on my Mac  .
Hows zb 2 on Leopard? ... Im installing Leopard on my Mac Pro today.

It’s a no-go. Read about it here.

Thanks for the info Aurick, much appreciated… cant wait to run 3.1 natively and not through parallels.

Quote … “So a March/April release it is then”…

Hey Buckie, I was just thinking that when I read the insider from Aurick, I was gonna say we’ll probably be lucky for an Easter launch date if history does repeat itself

However it is nice to at least hear some news. so for that thank you Aurick.

yaaayy!!! ^____________^

of course I’m not holding my breath (I’d actually expect the estimate to be missed, since thats just the nature of the game; development really can’t be accurately predicted), but this is excellent to hear, and very reassuring. Thank you.

Great news, I 'm sure the release date would not be that estimated by Aurick as the history showed us but still worth waiting specially if it is complete with Zmapper and Zapplink.

Hey Aurick, not sure if you can comment here, but was Zb3 for OSX delayed at all by Apple dropping support for the Carbon 64 bit API? Assuming there will be a 64 bit ZB3 for osx this spring.

Great news! It’s good to hear something at last about the mac version. I toyed for a while about getting a pc but dearly love the mac system. Looks like I’ll probably be sticking with my mac now

Thanks Aurick!

No Zbrush under the xmas tree?! I hope that at least i can see the snow this year…

Thanks for that estimate Aurick. Just visited the forum for the first time on my new Mac Pro to see if there was any news. It will be Parallels for 3-4 months then, not too bad!!

Thanks for the update - great to hear an update in the right direction!

woohooo :+1:
