Mac News (Unofficial) (update on page 15)

LOL. Next time I’m just going to keep my mouth shut. I was just trying to contribute to a slightly stale conversation. I’m really not mad at Apple. They’re doing a great job.

Zbrush 3 on Boot Camp for my Macbook runs great. I cannot wait to get rid of my Windows partition because that is of course the only reason why I’m using Boot Camp. I’ve got Parallels Desktop too but it’s Wacom pressure-sensitivity support is sketchy.

LOL. I just didn’t want to bore everyone with Leopard’s Core Image technology issues. I would love to hear your experiences with those image editing products (at least the parts you can share). I have Pixelmator and it’s not quite there yet.

Also, I love to hear about your experiences with FM (the software). I used to do my databases with 4D. Toyed with Notes (hated it), and I am now using MySQL.

It’s fun to see the chickens when the farmer comes to feed them.

I’m a chicken too, hungry, hungry, I did not eat for almost a year!!!

I’m wondering if the timing will be right to announce/showcase mac 3.1 at GDC in Feb… Let’s hope.

Its February! ;) Last night I ordered a Video Training to learn about the new features in zBrush 3.1. Im still using zBush 2!

I was told this morning that we are still on track for a February release. I am still guessing that it would be toward the very end of the month, though. And keep in mind that it could be delayed if any unforseen issues arise.

@Aurick, thanks for the good news! :+1:

Awesome News!!! Thanks Aurick!

Well, 2008 is a leap year, so you guys have one whole extra day in febuary.

Oh, and thank you for keeping us informed Aurick. :+1:

Fantastic news, whatever happens.

Mike

Thanks for keeping us updated, Aurick!

LOL!!

all this talk of z3 for mac in feb… u guys are playing with my emotions!!

Even if i use Zbrush 3.1 on my windows side(from the ZB2 era)with bootcamp and it works great, i would really like to see the Mac version becoming updated and native!
But i feel that if you really care for your work, art, hobby e.t.c and Zbrush is one of your tools, you don’t stuck with what side are you (Win/mac).

I mean, it’s fair to not want to use Windows, and be a little bit frustrated that you have to! but i think it’s reasonable to compromise if you think what 3.1 has to offer! (no hard opinion)

Of course this is only for the people that have a choice (Mac intel). For all the others (non Intel Mac)it's very reasonable to be frustrated and dissapponted for the delay!

They deserve a present or something

Yes I’m on a non-intel mac with only ZBrush 2. I would never use windows. It sucks. As a mac version was in the pipeline I felt it wasn’t worth investing in a PC just to run v3, even as a temporary measure. I’m glad we are now even closer to the mac version release.

Fortunately I’ve not been able to do much ZBrush work in the last 6 months so I haven’t noticed it much. But when I get back on it most of my ideas are going to be hugely benefited by the features in v3. Subtools alone are going to help me greatly.

I was thinking about my favorite software on P.C maybe will come on my MAc this month, or more news ?

I love deeply Zbrush !

 See ya Smileman

Hm, I beg to differ… The rest of my workflow runs entirely on OSX. I don’t think it’s a fair compromise that I should have to not only purchase (and, as time passes, upgrade appropriately) a copy of an OS from a different company just to use software I’ve already paid for. A single piece of software at that, when all of my other stuff is on OSX. And then there’s the issue of having to reboot just to hop into that program, or spend more money on Parallels, and then also have to deal with performance drops. And the additional hard drive space the new OS would take up… and the security vulnerabilities it would open…

=headache. There are other ways I’d rather spend my time and money.

But, thankfully, none of that matters because Pix seems to be very serious about OSX development, and I won’t say Apple has made it very easy. I can’t wait for the end of the month…^___^

what I wouldn’t do for a deep sleep chamber like the ones they had in Alien, I could just conk out and wake up in a few weeks to a successful installation…

…not to mention the savings in grocery bills! :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent news! Thanks Aurick, keeping my fingers crossed for February!

Great googly moogly that’s just freakin AWESOME. I am planning to upgrade from my Mac Mini to an imac mid month. HOOOO HAAAAAA!!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:
