Mac News (Unofficial) (update on page 15)

Cry me a river. Are you trying to tell me that you don’t have access to a PC? I certainly have other options available besides ZBrush and at least I purchased it. I wonder how many people complaining on here actually purchased the product. I would bet less than half. Take the group of users on there that actually purchased it and I would bet those users are more than willing to wait without the daily “are we there yet” childish posts.

Look, some of you are not Mac zeolots and I know better but when I read most of the comments and every page has something about how PCs suck and Macs rawk, it really makes me want to throw the koolaid they’re drinking right in their face.

As for reading my posts first:
I am quite a responsible adult but thanks for caring. I know you would like everyone to be kind and think about all of the shining happy people holding hands but give me an f’n break already, welcome to the real world.

** Complaining about bugs is different, I asked…

if you have nothing positive to add why say anything, no one forces you to read this thread. wouldn’t your time be better spent zbrushing.
and as someone earlier said, everyone, spend time with your loved ones cause once you get z3 you’ll disappear, haha.

No, Kosher, in the real world not everyone has access to a PC or alternative software programs the caliber of ZBrush. How are we affecting you, anyway?

You could be affecting me by pissing off Pixologic because you keep nagging them about the same question over and over, thus making updates about product features and fixes less frequent because they have to cover their ass from getting bombarded by users like this.

Kosher has a point. Zbrush is wanted, but I’m not making demands or trying to upset Pixologic with constant pecking. After all - fundamentally we all want Zbrush 3.

Respec!

Cuz’ they’re spending so much time responding right?
LOL! I think the only one getting pissed is you buddy

Cause you’re the only ones that care and listen … PLUR

UPDATE: Now please, shad aaaap.

Pissing off Pixologic? Are you serious? And what about Pixologic pissing us all here one whole year waiting? You think that if anyone here knew in the first place that Pixologic doesn’t give a **** about mac community would buy their software no mater how good it is? Get real man…

lol, right, why don’t you go troll in another thread?
sounds like a better idea to me.

You heard Kosher, you insignificant mac people! Stop complaining about waiting for almost a year for ZBrush 3, because every time you do he has to wait another whole day for an update. The poor little fella.

This Kosher guy is really unfair, almost the whole Pixologic web site is windows related, and is sooo pissed of for one (1) thread for MAC users! oh, bwana, me sorry for existing!
Stop the Red Bull, is bad for your temper.

:ex: Please keep your replies civil, respect the opinions of others and refrain from posting personal attacks.
This thread is intended to notify Macintosh users about major news regarding the Mac release, please keep it this way.

As stated previously, ZBrush 3.x for the Macintosh is in its final phase of developemt and optimizations, when an important information regarding the release is available, it will be posted first here in ZBC.

Thanks.

Fusion and Parallels talk is not completely unrelated Casemon. For the few of us that can work with Z3 on some version of Windows, it makes the wait much more bearable. I’ve already purchased a license of Zbrush for the Mac and I’m currently using my temporary Windows license to learn the software as time permits. Further, this software is so great (I’m finding out), that I would actually consider purchasing a PC just for Zbrush if that was necessary. It would have to be a Windows XP Pro PC, though. I can’t stand Vista because Microsoft changed so much (on the system level) that many programs are no longer compatible. Apple is in a better position to be able to make this kind of decision - hence carbon being dropped in favor of cocoa.

Adobe is finally porting Photoshop to cocoa, but that means no 64bit version of CS4 for Macs. Just think - If it’s going to take Adobe at least until CS5 to port to cocoa, then it’s probably rather complicated for Pixologic to make Zbrush for both PPCs AND Intels running either Tiger or Leopard. This is the first time they’ve had to do something this daunting. It’s got to be a pretty big mess and I doubt if Pixologic has development teams as large as Adobe’s.

Aurick said that Mac development cycles should be much shorter as ZBrush 4 is probably going to be Intel only. That’s not exactly what was said, but that’s what I concluded.

Thank You Support for trying to restore professionalism.

I am fortunate in that I have been using this incredible software via Parallels and am anxious as the rest of the Mac community is.
That said it’s been a long wait for sure but the conversation here has been in poor taste at best.

Lets prove that the Mac community has the respect and professionalism that matches the platform we support.

:+1:

Though you are right that we have to keep it civil etc. it is hard to keep from stating your thoughts and feelings, when you feel you have bought a Mercedes that have used spare tires for a year. You can drive it, but at the same time you cant. And when you call the dealer, he has absolutely no idea when the real tires will arrive.

What would the kids think if we at Lego sold a box of Legos for them without the red bricks - they will arrive later!! but we cant inform you when - you can always build something else from the bricks.

It is really frustrating - so please keep that in mind!
I am sure you can ease the language of the thread if you read what it is we really want. I’ll break it down for you:

  1. Z-brush for Mac.
  2. when we cant have #1 yet, then a little information on progression.

I think the biggest problem is that Pixologic is invisible, and we feel nothing is happening.

It’s embarassing to be a mac user in this forum to have to be pounded down for civility.

First of all, the update to 3.1 would be a free update. FREE UPDATE, you are paying zilch, zip, nada. Pixologic is doing this pro bono. They’re not getting any money from you ZB users expecting for a mac version. So, they don’t owe you dick. If anything, you owe them!

Second of all, if you own a Mac, any mac, you can run Z3.1 in it. On intel macs you can even run it natively via bootcamp and shudder windows. I run it under emulation with vmware fusion. Don’t wanna fork out the dough? Then what’re you? A creative professional pays peanuts for their tools, and this method is far cheaper than any computer graphics tools you’d ever pay for these days. Use gimp for Zapplink. It does everything photoshop do very well.

You “Mac” users stop embarrasing the rest of us MAC users!

Thirdly, what is the logic behind getting pixo to give us a news of the progress, which would be uncertain on any developmental software projects, only to piss them off when they “blew” the supposed deadline just so they would work harder? It’s like having sex in order to keep your virginity!!! Pixologic is making the right decision to remain invisible and keeping their lips tightly sealed when dealing with such behavior. I don’t want to hear any news until after pixologic releases the software. It doesn’t matter to know when the software is expected to be delivered anyway.

Zbrush, running under OSX:

Well, is certain being myself a Mac user I don’t feel embarrased in any way, so speak for yourself…

In the other hand I understand the frustation of many macintosh users who want to use ZB, I refused to feel that way and started to learn other programs in this 3 years of waiting, I choose no to use ZB in emulation because I simply don’t like windows, and that’s it! no big deal.

Let’s wait and see, maybe ZB is around the corner…

That is Zbrush under fusion in XP, not under OSX natively - so you have a Mercedes with spare tires only - congrats!..

I bought Zbrush 3 when it was release, with a written promise from pixologic that they would announce the mac release date shortly after the PC release. If it wasnt written like that I would have waited until an actual release to buy it.
The way it was written in the announcement, it indicated that the mac release was just a few weeks delayed, but come on, its a year now!!

I have run zbrush 3 under parallels, not fusion, but its slow to start the app, it cost me an XP license, AND it doesn’t support my wacom fully + it doesn’t utilize my ram as good as it could.

It might be an upgrade to some, but it is not an upgrade for me and its sure is not an upgrade for all the mac users - yet… for me it was money out of the window - simply just wasted.

I dont wanna repeat myself so just read my previous post on what good information could do.
