Mac News (Unofficial) (update on page 15)

dk79, is fusion supporting pressure sensitivity now as well? If so, I may have to set it back up on my machine… It was pretty much useless on my Cintiq without the pressure sensitivity.

I’m with everyone who is losing patience. It’s getting to be a bit ridiculous that we can’t even get some official communication. I find myself checking the site every single day in hopes the main screen with say there is a Mac release.

Hear that gigantic sucking noise…

I switched from fusion a year ago when it was in late beta/early alpha stage and now I’m looking at it again. ZBrush isn’t very useable for me in Parallels and I’ve recently deleted my bootcamp partition because I needed the space. It runs really well at my PC at work, but I cannot play around with Z3 all day or I’ll probably get canned. I’ve got some solid learning time in there, but I was constantly looking over my shoulder.

I was using with Parrellels to run Zbrush3 off my BootCamp Windows partition until I caught a virus.

How did you delete your Bootcamp partitiion? I can’t seem to get mine to let me right to it, or ease. I installed it with BootCamp 1.1 but that or ver. 1.4 no long works.

I have Leopard, but I don’t want to install it on this Mac. I

Yes, I’d like to know as well.

in the bootcamp assistant it has an option to restore your HD to a single partition again. Thats how I deleted my FUBAR xp partition.

I’m pretty sure I just used my Disk Utility to delete the partition and resize my current one. It was pretty scary thing to do actually, but worked without a hitch. Now I’m still having few Leopard issues because my installation is an upgrade - not a clean install. I had to do it because Adobe CS2 incompatibilities. CS2 worked on my upgrade, but not on a clean install. I installed Leopard three times when I first got it.

As always, make sure you back everything up before messing with partitions. My way sounds like it’s actually the more “Gung Ho” way that Apple may not recommend.

I had no idea you could do that…
I thought you had to reformat to adjust partition
settings… guess it’s been a while. I haven’t used
them since back in the days of FWB toolkit… :stuck_out_tongue:

I used Bootcamp’s helper program to create the partitioning. Since I was deleting the other partition (for XP Pro) in Disk Utility, it let me do it. Also, I think non-destructive resizing (upsizing in my case) is only available for Intels. Many people have issues from what I’ve found so my success story may be an isolated incident. Since I was resizing to a larger partition, that may be why I didn’t have a problem. Apple’s docs for Tiger state that you have to boot from the CD in order to do this, but I’m not sure what they say about Leopard.

YEs I was pretty amazed that it could do that. I am coming from a PC background, and was allready thinking “Partition magic” and diverse other disk tools, but was I in for a surprise. And this is why I love my mac more and more for each day! - if only Pixologic would… Nah that’s utopia…

to delete a bootcamp partition run the ‘bootcamp setup assistant’ and follow the steps. it will give you the option to restore your macintosh hd

That’s good to know it’s easy to do it. But looks like it will stay on there anyway. Wife just informed me she still wants to use the Windows on my MacBook Pro anyway. She’s just so used to Windows. Maybe I’ll just do a little resizing of the partition then…

Tell her windows consumes twice as much electricity
as OS X due to the inefficient coding. You want to help
her out, but we’ve all got to do our part to help save
the planet.

It’s in her best interest to acclimate to OS X anyway.
and who wants to live the guilt of killing all those baby seals?

Token “what’s the latest news on Mac version?” bump…

It’s been over 1 month since the beta status update… any news?

(also, please move the “how to use parallels” talk to another thread)

Can someone please delete this post? So damn annoying… seriously. There are important issues that need to be resolved in the windows release (current platform). You don’t see people using linux posting everyday about how their l337 h@x0r puter can’t run ZBrush.

I have a mac too so don’t give me that zealous b.s. about how I’m an ipod hater. Friggin sad people. Go back to praying to Steve Jobs.

UPDATE: Don’t give me any crap about ZB promising you a Mac version because you know they didn’t give you a date or a promise.

Kosher,

All I can say is your post is pretty malicious and inconsiderate.

In general, you should really take some and cool
off before you make posts on a forum. It’s absolutely
impossible for angry people to make rational arguments.

A, you again
edit: (kosher)

Casemon? Unity Casemon? Hey sup?! (if that’s u  )

I don’t want to get into a war of words here. I’m just trying to patiently wait until the Mac version arrives, but I can’t stand to hear stupid, insensitive generalizations made about a whole group of people. You know, just because I use a Mac, doesn’t mean I worship Steve Jobs.
I also have a Samsung widescreen monitor that I really like, but I don’t worship Samsung either. Does your using ZBrush mean you worship Pixologic? You’ll have to excuse all the mac customers who paid for ZBrush 3 almost a year ago, and the Mac users who have been loyally using ZBrush even longer than that. None of us Mac customers could have possibly known we would have to wait this much longer than our PC counterparts. If you were in the same situation, I doubt you would be very patient about it - particularly since you’re showing little patience for someone else’s dilemma. And, should you be complaining about “important issues” that need to be resolved? Pixologic made no “promises” or gave no “dates” for fixing them. So, just be patient and wait. The “haves” should not be telling the “have nots” how or what they should feel. I’m sure Pixologic is working hard to resolve the issue, but inflammatory remarks like yours do nothing but make a tense situation worse.

Kosher…
We don’t really need to say much about you, as you’ve made such an ass of yourself already.
