Pixologic has done fantastic work on the mac version. I found a torrent with the beta!!
Well,
By all means, let us know some details…
64 bit?
Does it see all your ram? (if you have a lot)
Zmapper?
Wow! We get more news from pirates than we do from Pixologic!
Say, isn’t it April 1st?

I hope you enjoy it. They’ll probably cancel the release now, and hire lawyers instead of developers.
I very much doubt that it’s up anywhere…
I just had a look at the major ones, including CG specific and they don’t have it listed, so either it was taken down after Pixologic saw the previous post or it’s some kind of sick joke :td:
Yes, it’s April…thanks.
Ok…this isn’t a joke.

polytropoi- negative vibes man, baaaad energy
I got a happy birthday email from Pixologic this morning.
No z3 upgrade link though
… it is april fools =/
i hope it’s a joke… i don’t want anything other than an authorized release.
Maan Houdini for mac? This is awesome. but still no zbrush…
yes, the mac beta torrent is an aprils fools joke, tho I must admit that I had hoped for pixologic to release it today…
Does anyone else think this is getting ridiculous? This thread is all about unofficial news that has created nothing but speculation. I would think by now they could give us TRUTHFUL and INFORMATIVE information. By now, I would suspect they should feel obligated to atleast update us and tell us what has happened, or how the beta is going.

Doesn’t rumors and FUD qualify as unofficial news? Otherwise, it would be official.
Yes, but wont it be great when we can use both of them together, on the mac platform.
Oh, boy! Oh, boy, oh, boy! Boy, oh, boy, oh, boy! …Oh, boy!
'K, I’m sitting on the edge of my seat, ready to be surprised. I know it will be worth the wait (in gold!).
After a while of that your butt gets sore (just a heads-up)
You can get Houdini Apprentice HD for just $99 with the ONLY limits being that animations can’t be rendered above 1920x1080 and no 3rd party render support. If one can handle Houdini’s unconventional methodology it really is a no-brainer. To have this ultra powerful 3D app running alongside the awesome ZB3 on my Mac would be a dream come true. The Mac as a viable 3D platform is becoming stronger all the time.
If Houdini for Mac sales prove strong then surely it must be a matter of time before XSI and 3DSMax join the party too.
You can get Maya Unlimited (educational) version
for around $400 at academicsuperstore… it’s a
little more expensive, but there’s no restrictions
as far as I know and it includes mentalray.
Anyone familiar with both maya + houdini?
I’ve been using Maya for a few years now,
Lightwave before that - am curious to hear
pros and cons from someone whos used both.
I don’t want to stray too far off topic, but since this thread
is officially unofficial, I will be peripherally tangental.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t you need to have a student ID to be allowed to purchase that? That’s not an option available to everybody. Frankly, I balk at the idea of handing over a minimum of $2000 (for Maya Complete, which doesn’t even buy me the full suite of tools) to the corporate behemoth that is AutoDesk. I use Maya at work on a daily basis and have no problem with that (boss pays for everything ), but there’s no way I’ll fork out that kind of money to be able to own a license for my own personal little projects. I’ll shop elsewhere for that. Which is where smaller developers like Pixologic, NewTek and now SideFX come in.
Hm… this is getting too off topic. Sorry mods.
Hello Folks,
this is great the thread is becoming the source for alternative CG! Wow! do you realize? We are at 45 259 replies!!! I am almost sure that before we reach 50 000. We will start talk about an other famous Muuuuuudy program… Maybe Pixo could sell advertising on this thread and finance a faster realease hiring extra programmers?
Anyway, can anybody tell me the difference between Houdini and Cinema 4D? I am learning 4D right now. thanks!
