And there was me thinking it was just 3 days until the end of Feb
Well, Aurick said that âthe end of feb.â was a target, but not a definitive date of release. So dont blame him.
atleast we know a release is really close, why would they put the system requirements of a mac version on the web page now if not. (which I find seriously strange since theres no mac version right now)
And what about us, poor PPC users? The requirements donât mention anything about PPC or UBâŠ
As far as I can see the requirements are Mac Intel⊠Nothing about UB or PPCâŠ
So I guess the hell with us PPC users. Funny it wasnât mentioned at store check out when 2.0 was bought that the next upgrade will be Intel only.
I dont know, I could have misread it⊠I hope for you PPC owners its not the case.
if no ppc than I am going to be angy and disapointed. I havenât made the switch yet and donât plan on it for a while since I use Maya with a dongle and they (not sure who âtheyâ are) havenât figured out how to make the dongle work on an Intel mac so if I upgrade to the new machine it means also buying an additional license so I can run maya on my laptop for when I travel. Now this. Really disheartening.
 Pixologic = best PC salesmen ever.
I really hope there will be a power pc version. I bought zbrush 2.0 years ago, just to get the upgrade to version 3. Man I would really like to get it.
Hey Ilmostrog,
off topic, butâŠ
Maya 8.5 does now work on Intel Macs with a dongle license. I have mine working now, thanks to a recent patch.
mick
I honestly canât wait to dump my PPC.
Tax refund = octal core xeon.
The transition to Intel has been going on
since '06 announced in June '05⊠writing
has been on the wall for sometime now.
Beta testing means we could be very close,
or a little wait - I will kick back a couple
beers and watch Big Trouble in Little ChinaâŠ
hey⊠at least weâre getting a port right?
Pixologic may want to clear up those specs since Parallels and Bootcamp will not run on non-Intel Macs. So PC âemulationâ via those options are not possible on PowerPC based Macs like the G4 or G5 Macs, even if they are running OS 10.4+.
Bootcamp and Parallels are not PC emulators. Bootcamp is a way to run your Intel Mac as a full PC. There is no emulation layer. Parallels is virtualization technology that let you run one OS inside another. It does not emulate a PCâs hardware like VirtualPC since the hardware is available to the OSes.
You are so eternally correct.
This phase of beta testing is for users running Intel processors. The system requirements page at Pixologic.com has been updated with this in mind. When I get more information regarding ZBrush 3 on the older Macs, I will be sure to inform you as soon as I can.
Thanks for the update Aurick! Could you ask the webmaster to move the two Parallels/Bootcamp lines (in OS and RAM) up to the ZBrush3 Mac part of the specs since they only apply to running ZBrush3 PC on a Mac? Or break it out to a special âRunning ZB3 PC on Intel Macâ heading?
Wipping tears from eyes, âyou mean there is a chance?â
Actually Aurick, Iâm glad to hear there is still news yet to be released for the older macs. Its business, I understand nothing is finalized until it is in print and this is the unofficial news thread for mac owners, something we are all greatful for.
No more jumping the gun for me. Iâll sit and wait patiently.
It seems to be everything becomes more complicated for Pixologic
I waited a long time and I 'm glad (lucky) to have an intel-based Mac. Iâve seen a lot of unfriendly posts from âwindows-guysâ reading our complains (thanks). But I realy hope the ZB-release for the PPC will come soon! Keep it up
I agree: Itâs been a long road up to this point, and not everyone in the forums has been sympathetic to Mac users concerns.
I hate to say it, but sometimes it seems as if Mac users are like the crazy uncle no one wants to talk about. Honestly, Mac/Zbrushers never anticipated there would be such a great divide between them and Windows/ZBrushers, or that it would require so much effort from Pixologic to bring ZBrush 3 to the Mac. Mac users just want the same ability to create great art like anyone else. Hopefully, Pixologic will continue to support the Mac and future Mac versions wonât come with so much labor pains. I just canât wait to get my hands on ZBrush 3 and see what we can do together.
Youâll be glad to know that unifying ZBrush-code to run on Intel CPU will significantly shorten the time between the release of Windows and Macintosh versions! That is a good thing.
That is a very good thing! Thanks for the info.
