Thank you again Jay:). One last question, do you bake all these maps into the model before putting the model in game?
i dont quite get your question tbh… what do you mean?
Sorry, I was reading a thread on a different forum where the modders were discussing “baking” the normal maps into the mesh using maya? They didn’t get specific.
i suggest you google texture baking
its basicly the whole point for me in zbrush apart from sexy renders
anyway… im currently redoing the textures for my older swords made for Skyrims predecessor Oblivion …and makiung new ones from time to time :
continuing on retexturing those old swords of mine, getting better too id say
especially the ornaments, starting to understand more and more of their flow and what probably went through the mind of the original artists during ages long past

ah well, redid the renders of the retextured swords… and well guess i gonna post em here too
if anyone of you is playing The Elder Scrolls Skyrim, you can fetch the mod adding these swords here:
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1002
mind that the renders below are WIP HQ retextures and i still gotta redo some of the weapons before releasing this update
Very nice designs and execution
Texture work is also excellent. Thanks for the info on importing into ES!
Axe
merry christmas everyone!

Cool stuff!!! Was wondering if any of the Skyrim swords will be available in any Xbox mods???
Love it
@xbox
nope sorry, microsoft doesnt like the idea of mods and so we wont see them soon on any xbox i assume
(only way to use mods on the xbox is by modifying it and exchanging the main games archive file with a new one which would break the EULA with microsoft and xbox live aswell as with bethesda and skyrim, the xbox live problem possibly resulting in your xbox getting blacklisted even)
@swords
a new dagger, Dragonsting
base mesh with some subDs
sculpted unpainted object
ingame object

moar swords!
<<–i like how the bronze material looks on this one
still not sure what to do with edges… chamfer makes it seems to smooth, keeping a hard edge becomes too hard easily… maybe i should try smaller chamfers or triple chamfers instead

cant stop… have to… make more…
if i go on like that there wont be enough dragons to try every sword -.-

Y’know, you’ve been making some real cool swords.
thanks, glad to hear you like em
just did some retopo test again, took the axe i currently use in my mod which was retopoed by decimation master and actually doesnt look too bad ingame (example screenshot a few pages back), yet i didnt really like the edgeflow since it makes it really harsh to create smoothgroups and the like
so i put it into 3Dcoat and let its automatic retopo called “autopo” run… must say im kinda impressed with its results,
it could probably have kept even more detail if id have used the masking ability and set the masked areas, for example the aged edge of that axe, to have twice the polycount than the rest of the model or made more elaborate guide edges from which to form the edgeflow
all models have roughly 700 polies btw

new one, proportions might not be 100% right and its probably not the most wieldy blade but anyway
The Blade Of Dibella (some Elder Scrolls Godess)
