This is one cool sculpture! I like the set and his accessories that go along with the character. :+1:

impressive work as always.waiting for your next piece of art.

thank you takai. yes the accesoiries were fun, i could have made even more, but decided to stop here.
diablo, thank you. yes, this will come

What are you doing is simply amazing!
I admire the ease and grace of your characters.
Doris, you actually breath life into your characters.

Ciao,
TM

thank you tm  …oh, ease, hmm maybe they look like ease, but they are hard work for me, a lot of struggle…but then this is wh i enjoy so much

Very nice and quick work! I see a lot of the same obstacles I usually run into in the details of your Jack Sparrow. Things like preserving the shape of the limbs under the folds as they get more dynamic and trying not to mess up the geometry as you stretch your flowing cloth into place. Love how much is added by the relatively minimal background as well. Boxes and cylinders can go a long way when you’re not looking straight at them!

thank you for visiting my thread, tcp, i feel very honored  … it was not a quick sculpt, when considering the time i needed, but certainly can count as quick in the sense of looseness, as it is not refined and polished. yes, i am sure you can see all the problematic areas, the volumes yes i need take care better of these with the next sculpt. thanks for pointing that out. it is hard, but i love trying to put poses, and sculpt the pose, rather than doing a boring and much easier t-pose. …yes, the background is very simple geometry, my thinking was to add a little “story” and at the same time keep it out of focus. i had the feeling if i would go in detailing the ship, it would have competed with the main subject… like you do in paintings often, indicate the background with a few broad strokes, i tried to do that on a sculptural level…

Lovely post Kokoro.
From a 2d perspective my constructive crit would a particular tension in the composition created by various visual tangents of the foreground character with the background elements.

I’ve attached two links which may inspire to avoid the compositional issue of tangents when rendering.

You’ve inspired me to learn Blender . I like it !!

boozie, thank you so much! actually, i did feel a little uneasy with my composition, but could not tell what it was, as i have divided the space porpoerly etc…yes, its the tangents, , now i know what to watch for the next time. … hug for you

oh, and if you ever get some problem in blender, or need some help with it, please, don’t hesitate , i would be very glad to help.

i don’t show often works in progress here, but i like to give a sneak peak of my big project i am working on right now. it is based of haeckels artforms of nature. i use the ideas in his drawings freely, sometimes i copy, sometimes i just use the idea and then run with my own… all blender and zbrush, a wonderful combo to work with. renders with cycles, as always.

Simply wonderful! And again and again measureless reverence for nature!

Ciao,
TM

thank you tm… yes, to me this is how it should be

Doris, for a long time I was not here. So many delicious! )))

I was especially impressed with the work Precious.

thank you lexxx, yes precious was a piece that came so much from my heart, and it got something from it i am happy

the jellyfish now swims happily in the ocean… zbrush, blender, photoshop. all materials are procedural.

jellyfish_02_small.jpg

due to the many waterbubbles and floating particles, i could not compress the image enough to get on the forum, so if you are interested, here is the original larger version.

Great job Doris.you got some beautiful creatures here. Love this last one. ;)

Excellent sculpting,
and, that last one… simply a beautiful and hard to setup render !!!
Such renders may become pretty insane. I know it.
Obviously less pshoped than someone may expect.
Volumetrics, SSS and lots of faces.
A beauty. A little noisy but who cares.

diablo, thank you. sculpting these creatures from haeckesl reference is pure fun. and seeing one of it become real even more so
michalis, thank you. yes indeed, setting this up was quite a challenge. even the viewport render of small portions took a long time, due to the volumetrics and the many transparencies, so tweaking settings was a nightmare…and, yes, it is a little grainy, i rendered only 250 passes, since even them took more than 4 hours to render. tests had shown it would had needed 500 to be mostly noisefree, but i really did not want to wait 9 hours for a render… i am never patient with long renders…
