fun with zbrush

rory, thank you. yes, i should have sculpted a little over after posing, i see now that you mention it that the girl lost some volumes at places. i will do this better next time. now, that i worked so long on her, i need a break from her. thanks a lot for showing me how to improve next time.

takai, thank you. i am attaching an info graphic on the dress. …yes, i tried hard to not forget the character while dealing with all the tech stuff necessary to make her come visible. i am glad you think i succeeded a little in this too.

boozie, thank you… yes the tenderness, it was very hard to keep, while i pulled out my hair when things not went as i wished to, becuase i learned so many things with her, and it was struggle. i am glad the struggle does not show too much… i attach an info graphic on the dress, i hope it helps.

edit: in the graphic: the word “zremesher” should be “zmodeler”!!! sorry for wrong word

Bless you for posting the info graphic .
Only one stage baffles me Professor Kokoro - the stage between 11 and 12?
Are you rendering edges to create the fabric weave, using a uv map or creating poly geometry to create the fabric weave?

Yours etc Boozy

I really love this pretty little character, her clothing, and the effects you used with her.

thank you jan, yes she is pretty is she not?

boozie, yes if you want to render in blender, you do not need steps 10-12, but you render the edges with the help of a wireframe modifier. if you want render in zbrush, you need make steps 10-12 in zmodeler:
step10 is qmesh the whole fringe to get thickness
step11 zmodeler polyaction insert and target is “all polygroup”. do this on front, and then same on back with just clicking so you get same size of insets.
step12 zmodeler polyaction qmesh target is “all polygroup”. click on an inset poly and qmesh through so that you get the holes. now this is your mesh you can render in zbrush, and looks like a frill.
is now clear? if not i can try explain better.

Thank you Kokoro,
a very sweet and highly effective technique adaptable to many other creative uses.
I shall be following steps 10-12.

Hard surface modelling that results in gauzy softness, I like it!!

i llok forward to see what you will be doing with it, boozie

an effort to get good likeness in a realistic portrait. done in blender, zbrush, photoshop. i hope you like, and recognise her…

portrait_10_angela_merkel_small.jpg

Instantly recognizable from the thumbnail alone - always a sign of a good likeness:+1:

thank you boozy, it seems though that only european people know her, according to my experience of showing her in other forums …lol

I recognized hear immediately, AND I recognize your style immediately.
Isn’t that much better than simple likeness ?

yes, it is knacki, yes indeed  thank you… funny though, that i myself could not describe what my style is, but i am glad that something has developped over time, that is recognizable to the knowing eye

I also recognized her immediately from the thumbnail on the front page. Been seeing her a lot in the news lately.

hi webhead, glad to hear she is well recognisable. thanks.

Just do not understand, about what is sad madam Merkel?!

Just do not understand, about what is sad madam Merkel?

I bet she is not sad but rather concerned about the situation in Ukraine. This days we often hear only worries from biggest European leaders.
PS Not a flame-comment, just my two cents, so don’t take it too seriously.

ah, lexxx, there are many reasons available, are there not? … thanks for stopping by
vir norin, thanks. i do not mind political comment, even though i do not make political statement with this portrait… i am watching your portrait work too, you do an amazing job… i know how hard it it to get from the reference correct proportions, as they all seem to show different ones. you do great on your portrait.

Yeah, I was simply joking. It was very hard to resist since it became a real meme in my country: after the yet another terrorist’s strike or suspicious activity from Russian army they (European politics) start talking about how much they worry and calling to stop the violence. Surely without any success and next day even more people die. But eh… I didn’t intend to start politic talks, sorry.
Thank you for a kind words. Yes, the last likeness sculpt turned into the real headache for me. But hopefully I will finish it soon.

a quick portrait sketch, i like to share here too…

Doris, very soulful portrait!

Great work.love the expression.
