i am working on a new big project, and thought i share some bits , a boot of one of the two characters involved. sculpted in zbrush, retopo and laces in blender, evereything else is zbrush. this is the lowpolyversion with normalmap, in the final render i will use the highpoly model…
Nice boots! I love to see boot models.
Maybe because I’ve never made good ones.
These look great…chains are a nice touch.
hi jan19, thank you
i got some helpful critique, and thus reworked this poortrait again, to come closer to realism…
That is good! Excellent textures, IMHO.
Great portrait. Awesome hair!
glad you like it jan, yes the textures were fun to create, and i think that shows
testing the zmodeler, what a brilliant tool! … and, i am super happy, z4r7 is absolutely stable on my mac, even though i am using the 64bit version.
a tiny toy to learn the tricks of the zmodeler, 2 hours fun
Glad you like r7 Doris.
Love the tiny toy.
And indeed, it is stable.
After we learned how to handle a few things. ha ha
hi michalis, yes very stable, and in my case i did not apply any trick, it just is stable right out of the box, so to day… do you like the zmodeler too?
Didn’t try much ZModeler, just some basics. Not much free time to learn the tool.
Yeah, the 64bit r7 is quite stable. I wonder what happens to lot of other OSX users.
The only small issue is the finder (the modes), using columns or list is the solution.
glad to hear z4r7 is essentially stable for you too, michalis
i was playing more… i never liked boxmodeling much, but this has changed with zmodeler
Have to agree with yah thar for sure, I had the same feelings for box modeling (as essential as it is) until ZModeler. I like your race car, it reminds me of those cars kids build for cub scouts. The train you made too is really cool (its amazingly cute). Are you going to add some stuff to it or characters?
I liked those last two models. Would it be possible to see some sub-divided images of them?
thank you takai. no, i will not add something, it was merely an exercise to learn zmodeler…
lensman, thank you. the models have no creases yet, so they do not smooth as intended. i doubt i will pick them up again to add creases, as i just wanted learn the functionality of zmodeler.
I’m still reading the documentation.
Press the space bar all sorts of options pop up - start screaming in terror.
Run and hide. Look again at the documentation. Press space bar …
You’ve stepped in to space with style whilst I’m still clutching the door of the capsule.
Zmodeler is a fabulous addition. I’ve used it so far for polygonal tinkering but not yet box modelling.
Boxes that go round - that’s just weird
I tip my hat
boozie, thank you for you poetic words, very appreciated.
no, reading the documentation is not what got me going. it is far too techy, i wonder how they can create such beautiful software, but useless documentation… i looked the few videos in zclassroom, and then started. from the many options that pop up with spacebar, i mainly used qmesh, insert loop, insert polygon, split point. and most of the time i used the default target, with a white painted polygroup, alt click to get it. i used bevel, here and there too. that is it. i like to work with reduced tools and see where it brings me… i hope this little info lets you flying too, good luck.
Than you Kokoro,
your solid advice much appreciated .
My liberation will come with diving in feet first I guess.
Any hesitancy on my part to delve deeper is fear of distracting myself for the time being.
Usually it takes me a few months at the very least to finally switch over to an update for that very reason.
so, finally here is the remainder that belongs to the boot i posted previously. most of the work done in zbrush, some details, like the shoelaces and the blossoms etc, done in blender. rendered with cycles. i hope you enjoy
Beautiful work as always doris.just love it.;)
Ciao,
TM
That’s a strong piece in obvious kokoro style.
Love it very much.
This is the kind of art we need in time of war and islamophobia craziness.
Thanks for sharing Doris.
