Blender has a great handling on loops but to just paint masks on your base mesh, extrude it as new tool (similar to solidify) and UV unwrap it directly (ZB GUVs) is a great addition (or option)
These mini tuts are additions to the fine Mealea’s tutorials. My goal was always to do non-distractive actions in zbrush. To be able to export nice-clean low poly meshes with UVs. The rest (disp and subdivisions in your massive 3d app-base… blender in our case)

BTW, Doris is not a new member in the club of loopinitis disease LOL
(but I don’t see too many loops)

tm, danke  oh, i believe it will be a short period, as soon as my desire for portraits takes over its out…lol…but yes, very enjoyable…
thank you gmp1993,yes i tried before a little, it is fun!
yes, michalis, i saw this tutorial and liked that all stays nice and very managable, only when rendering the load of the many subdivisions is there, and i also read mealeas, and made the new one today, following more closely those two. i did the guvtiles, but then in blender i did some re-uv and alot of rearranging of the uvs. blender is so great for that… now i am baking with cycles my own displacement and ao maps  first tests are pure joy

Still i’m not convinced about the term Loopinism or Loopinitis etc

oh yes, daniele, you are right, here are not so much play with loops, a little yes

Yeah, the term loopinisme is mostly a joke.
But, there is a wave, it looks like.
Maybe a bad habit. Fast results. On the other hand there is much undiscovered potential on all these workarounds.

Hi Kokoro, Cool cat you have there! Don’t catch Looping Cough!

All the best, David

Nice work
the looptitis is the only emfermedad I like
(no side effects):+1:small_orange_diamond:D

oho, david, i guess i cached something… creating displacementmaps right now, not the usual ones though…lol… thanks for nice words
thank you, fc666, glad to hear that about the side effects…

ohoh, i think i have loopilitis … lol… well, i never go too much abstract (i wish i could though) and somehow it draws me magically to portraits, even when i play with loops…

… and this side view is maybe even more interesting ??

Hi Kokoro, this one is wonderful! Your own version of a robot or mech warrior … made from fine Sterling Silver, very elegant! Bravo!

Cheers, David

thank you, david! yes elegant he is, right?

Great mix.
I also like the render. Where?
However, it is a little difficult to have seamless patterns (the floral one)

VERY GOOD
I remember “arcimboldo” (Italian painter)
congratulations:+1:

thank you, michalis, yes, floral was difficult to get seamless in the uv… the render is cycles…
pfc666, thank you! no fruit were harmed for this one…lol…

great work:+1:

thank you roland, glad you like it

a speedy portrait, about 2 hours, blender zbrush-combo…
