fun with zbrush

nice job, I like the new one way better on the hand area for sure! The render is looking great aswell!
If I may, I liked the hair on the other one better and the render/reflections of the glasses aswell!
But other than that, really nice results! Keep up the great work!
And continue having fun with zbrush buddy!
Cheers,

  • Kenny:)

hi kenny, of course you may  thanks again for your input, i too like the hands now better

I personally like the first one better hair wise anyways. The second is a better render,How do you use spotlights in ZB? that is something I haven’t figured out. Anyways love that you are doing a whole scene. I think you should put his left thumb behind the book and I would add some veins on his hands maybe some age spots too. I’m only saying that because my hands have them.

hi monstermaker, thank you for sharing your ideas  … as to the spotlights in zbrush, i am sorry i cannot be of help there, as i don’t know either. the render is not done in zbrush, but inside blender with the cycles render engine… the model, and texturing however is done completely inside zbrush.

an abstract i made tonight to cheer me up. hope it works… 100% zbrush, render and all, bpr filters fibers etc

That thing is gorgeous!!!
The whole thing is terrific and the colors are edible!
I want one, I wish things like this could be printed in 3D so we could feel them.

Your professor is fantastic too, If I had had him I suspect my math skills would be a bit better. Its also a reminder that I need to keep working on learning Blender.

Cheers!
Mealea

hi mealea, you made me smile with thinking this is edible (had to look up the word :-)), but yes its cheerful as i wanted it to be… actually one can print such models, with colors and all, but i dont know how much it would cost… yes, blender is a great addition to zbrush, i am still very early in my blender learning too, use it only for rendering so far. but i like to explore it with each project a little more, so it feels like fun, and not work  it certainly does not have the playful feeling you can have with a zbrush session when imagination runs wild  but the new renderer is fantastic and really worth the effort to learn to tame that beast

a mix of michelanglo as inspiration, my own mood, first steps in human anatomy, and a fantasy creature… hope you enjoy…

Hi Kokoro

Hey…I luv this last one posted of yours…The Emerging Spirit…:+1:
That’s a great way to do an anatomy study,… it ends up being much more than a study in the end,… and reflects the mood and feeling of the hand and imagination that creates it.
I don’t know if you have this book yet, but if you don’t,…you should get it…It will really be useful to you in doing the kind of anatomy and anatomy studies which I have a feeling that you really enjoy, and are going for…It’s a book that’s worth it’s weight in gold so to speak…He uses and demonstrates the same method of figure creation that Michelanglo and all of the Great Old Masters used…I think you will luv it, and the teachings within it, if you decide to get it…:)…The link to it is posted above.

Anyway Kokoro…Keep Inspired and Inspiring…Always…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Glenn

thank you so much, glenn  … yes, i have burne hogarth book, actually not only this but several of him  i have used his books for learning to draw, but sculpting in 3d is a different beast. so, my first anatomy looks humble, so to say… but, as you noticed i enjoyed  and, i will do more. thanks for your support, very appreciated

despite i have modeled quite a number of heads, and even portraits, i still feel my anatomical knowledge is way too weak. so, i decided to improve it… and, as glenn suggested, i used as teacher burne hogarths books. i also used a book about modeling the portrait in clay of peter rubino, and, for the lips i let me inspire by michelangelo, i love how he carved, and drew, lips  … so, this is result after 2 days extensive study, and i have really understood some aspects of anatomy, i never was aware of before… so, i am exited, and want share with you  (all zbrush, mesh is just a tad over 40 000 polygons)

beautiful sculpt, the anatomy is looking really crisp.:+1:
It really turned out great and love the planar parts on him!
The overhang seems a little far back but other than that really great study and nice and clean topology
Looking forward seeing more anatomy echorche from you!
All the best my dear friend and happy sculpting,

  • Kenny

hi kenny, yes the planar, i have read that suggestion in your thread, someone made it to you, and i thought my models lack the same, so i tried improve on it too… … what do you mean with “overhang” ? den hinterkopf ? (i try german, as your location is saying munich ;-)) thanks for giving critique, very appreciated

model in zbrush, rendered with cycles
sphinx_03.jpg

inspired by the wonderful, fresh studies of wouter vugt in his figure sculpting scetchbook i decided to learn this too  my first attempt was from a mannequin, that i posed, but it was soon clear to me that this task was too advanced for my level of anatomy knowledge (almost zero…lol), so i decided to step back, and try create from a symmetrical dynamesh sphere my piece… so, this is the first, i know, quite bad, but one has to start somewhere… constructive critique welcome

Interesting studies!
The back looks better than the front.
There may be an obsession here.
Anatomy vs synthesis.
My big problem, as well.
Keep the good work my friend!

thanks michalis, agree, i like the back better too, will try make better next time ., yes, a lot of anatomy studies now right here at zbc  i think this is good

Nice study! Every time I visit your thread I see a lot of progress :+1:

thanks bas, i am so glad you think so

todays study…again male torso, but arms raised this time. main goal was to improve all the bad things from the last one…
