Jelmer, thanks for your comments, your work is top notch as well, I really like the bat and the new posting of the old age bust, really good.
Here is an update on the texturing, the eye is a temp, untill i get one made up.
hope you like it.

Gah you picked up materials really fast! The cavity settings may be a little to heavy and may a little bit of specularity might help. Not sure if you have enough control over reflection in zbrush to just give the skin a slimy look. Is your website working yet? I tried going there before and I could see any sculptures.

Great design! I love it.

Agree with slocik.
Without those latest skin details it looks better. Also the open mouth is a better expression for this beautiful creature.
And about the texture; please don’t make the contrast of colors too much. It also kills the beautiful details i think.
Jeff Mcateer’s birdman is a great example for both details and texture. You should take a look at it, if you don’t yet.

Hey, Trux & Wamball, thanks for the comments, This will be one of several poses and textures for this guy, as I learn more about the materials and what textures inhance the sculpt more, but i’ve learned alot so far. the intension is to have two or three of these guys in a scene, all different poses ages etc.

It sucks to have to cover all the good stuff but I was trying to mimic nature a bit with this texture. how patterns and color hide the forms from preditors, to blend or confuse, your notes tell me i win!
but your both right i will be toning down the color and contrast. And the others in the pack will have different expressions and poses to match.

i will play some more with the specularity and materials to see if it improves some things.

…I love that bird man, very good forms and super smooth textures. I’ll tone down the details on the others, any excuse to keep ZBrushing is Ok with me.

Oh… and the web site is still being worked on, its tuff to find time to finish…but it will be populated in the next week or so…i hope.

Here is the latest test with a lighter touch and some adjustments to the material settings, still working on the eye, and on the other open mouthed pose, but i will post those next time, with this material. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for checking it out.

I think his looking great. I would think that the tip of the razor would be lighter as that part would always be hitting or cutting into stuff. So maybe more bloody or warn down. Just a thought. Also you should try use a cavity map. It’ll bring out your wrinkles better. Nice work so far.

been working alot lately on some work for the mouse, so not alot of progress. however here is the eye i started for the razor. I’ve checked around and viewed a few scripts about adding a lense. I’m sure some one has solved this before, but i can’t find exactly what i’m looking for, i just want to add a sphere around this one with a cornal bulge and render them, I’m sure this question has been asked before, but any help, notes, or simple instructions, including exactly how the multimarker works would be helpfull. i’ve tripped over the wall on this one, off and on for a few weeks, and my spleene is sore.

anyway, here is a progress shot,
thanks in advace for the help.
and thanks for taking a look.

Looking wicked. I’d also like to know how to have mutiple objects in zbrush to render. Have you done any concept sketches on the body yet?

What a nasty eye. It’s going to be good to see that put into the creatures eyesockets.

My new web page is being populated as we speak, i think there are some illistrations in the 2d section as thumbs that you can take look at for the body concept. you’ll know the one’s, they have similer heads forms.
the rest is being worked on as i type, so there should be more to look at soon.
i don’t think the larger images are up yet, but soon.

Damn. Great drawings. I cant wait to see the body on this fella!
