FiberMesh™ Preview

Well worth the wait … for Pixologic just good is not good enough, it must be great … and free!

OK, now it is confirmed, Ofer… you ARE the off spring from the Aliens at Roswell area 51! You give us a little bit at a time as so we don’t catch on, but, I’m on to you and the other Alien off springs at Pixologic. Seriously, AMAZING, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Color me stoked! For illustration and concepting purposes, this is a godsend. My only question is, it’s hard to see in the vid what the settings you can work with such as clumping, curling or root color and such. I wonder what options there are for styling.

Wow!..

Fantastic. Can’t wait to play with FiberMesh. How weird and freaky would that sound if Fibermesh was replaced with the word “Hair” or any other medical name that RK will be using in future FiberMesh tutorials.

Thanks Pixologic for making Zbrush the best buy I’ve ever made… Not according to my missus though!

I see a theme here, DynaMesh, FiberMesh… will we be seeing FluidMesh, ParticleMesh and ClothMesh in the future?

looks like an awesome feature. Just wondering if we could control the length of the fur. the muzzle of the dog should have fur on it unlike what we see in the video. just that the fur will be short and held close to the skin. The ears too will have short flat fur. The dog model seems to have fur of the same length in the masked area. While styling it with move is cool fr directional control it would be a pain to shorten the fur in some areas. Just seems so. The fur just doesn’t look right on the dog. The paws, ears and muzzle hopefully can be made realistic too. Also wondering if we could do something about feathers. Dinosaurs and birds could really use some feathers on them. Feathers are impossible to do for ordinary CG mortals like me.

Truly awesome! i love the way of once added the hair we can manipulate it with the brushes to give it a lot more style, something that doing it in other application would take daays to create a per size style of hair now in ZBrush would be just in matter of seconds!, also the hair looks beautiful renderized with BPR!.

Actually i feel thankful for this delay i knew it this delay was because of really cool features like this. Even Megan Fox is modeling on the video what else can we ask?

Gobsmacked…purely and simply.

Simply Awesome… :+1:

Finally! The best present for NYD. Great!

that is amazing

I’m so glad I didn’t spend too much time experimenting with the Fiber Brush recently, I’ll just wait for this. Now this feature has me thinking about possible collision detection in ZBrush. Perhaps collision could be a painted weight and/or only a SubD Level 1 or 2 cage with a polygon limit for calculations.

Absolutely LOVE the last forest like creation and rendering. Reminds me of Paint Effects in Maya.

yeeeeeepeeeeeh!!!

Pixo, amazing looking release…

I hope there will be brushes for: Length, Density (Number of Strands in an area) and Clumping.

And if masking works well when editing with these, i will be in heaven.

Looks sweet!
Is there a list of known issues? I’ve had ZB just close without saying goodbye more than once as well as some other ‘anomolies’.
AFAIK no error report was submitted.

Holy ****.
Jaw, meet floor.

I can see the inevitable Z-Brush 4 has stopped responding messages popping up when I go and use this, it’s an interesting addition but from what can be seen demonstrated here (hence the long drawn out still shots), it’s a primitive hair system. Cinema 4D’s Hair module ( before the advent of structure changes since R12) in comparison has a powerful feather, fur as well as hair generation / manipulation ( e.g comb / brush / cutting, pushing, curling, mirroring) / material system- including clumping / curling, twisting, kinking, frizzing, tightening, displacing, waving, straightening, lengthening, scaling, density, specular, transparency, colour gradients and texturing surface options from root to tip) / animation / dynamics control system and I’ve not even covered the more advanced options for fine control. If you’re unaware of what Z-Brush is up against in the hair department with other 3D apps then what I’ve covered should give you some insight. If ZBrush is all you have then it’s a nice addition but it’s going to feel under par with what is out there already but yeah it’s free and getting things for free is nice but unless those other bugs have been removed it’s going to feel that substance took priority over stability, we did all buy the license to use the program first and foremost as we expect things to work.

I’d rather see a list of what has been fixed.

When they add Raytrace Rendering THEN it will be complete.

:+1:

Awesome…
Don´t know how useful it will be, but …awesome

Couldn´t really tell by the vid, will there be controls to determine the direction of fibers? …Oh, like maybe a fiber brush where the fibers will follow the direction of the stroke.
Oh well, looking forward to seeing what this will be in the end

good grief Scott!!!..cheer up buddy
