FIber mesh fun

nice work!!

Looks great. I also had a problem with spotlight last week. It worked fine on everything else except the model I was working on. I think I imported the tool back into a new project to get it to work again.

Weird

Do a simple test, this will help pinpoint where the problem occurs(tool problem or project problem or other ):
Close and restart ZBrush (don’t Initialize)
Draw a sphere to the canvas, make polymesh3d and subdivide a few times.
Fill with white and select Basic Material (for easy viewing purps)
Go to Texture palette, choose the wood texture and press the add to Spotlight button.
Spotlight opens
Position the texture over the sphere by dragging in the Spotlight wheel (dragging in the centre orange circle repositions the wheel)
Hit the Z button the hide the wheel
Turn off zadd, select rgb and paint the texture on the sphere
This should work fine.
Next open your ZBrush project
Clone the cave tool and Save As separate tool (.ztl)
Close ZBrush (don’t Initialize), restart and open the cave tool*
-> Repeat the wood texture/spotlight test-> this should work fine
If this works, you can re-import the painted cave tool into the project

*If you have Layers on the Cave tool, you might test again without layers (do a Bake All or delete them)

Great work!!! the fibers on the body is looking great, I have been trying to do the same thing but can’t get the hair to flow close to the skin like you have! any way, great model and I’m liking where you are going with the cave;)

Peace

Thanks for taking the time to try and solve my problem,Etcher and Dr Apple, I will try it now. I did try restarting and making a test tool and it worked yesterday, hopefully this will work. Again thanks for your help.
Rick

Hi there! Congratulations! Very nice work. The pose and expression of the wolf were awesome. Still do not study the system of zbrush hair but was very cool.:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Well as much as i am ready to call this guy done and move on I just couldn’t invest enough time on the weekend to call him finished. Etcher I tried what you said, decided to make a new cave I was able to use spotlight out of the project but when i imported it back into the project it didn’t work. I first I thought it was going to, as the dial showed up this time but ,again when I tried to paint RGB using the spotlight image it just painted black. Sunday before I had to go out in the early evening to a friends birthday dinner I rendered this wide shot and before work today, I quickly composited them together in PS. I’ll probably regret posting it as It’s not as good as my earlier image but I wanted to keep you guys current with how it’s going.

WOW! Rick, if this isn’t the best you can do I truly can’t wait to see the final image! This to me is worthy of a whole new top row.

My only lament is this isn’t widescreen desktop wallpaper sized.

Love it, Rick!

Even at this smaller size I still see veins through the fur:D Nice image MM

Rick, I’m aware of your issue with spotlight painting. if you’re working in a Z project, and you’ve created a background from the light-cap settings, you should disable the light-cap generated background before painting so the standard ZB gradient is visible. Do all your painting and texturing and then later reactivate the light-cap background for rendering. hope this helps.

Wow, I really love this one. Great job Rick.

cam, thanks for the tip.

I like it in this context, I was just thinking, considering your typical work, this feels a bit like a sketch.
Sucks the file bombed on you, hopefully the 64bit Z5 will be along at some point to help stop that.
Look forward to seeing that bad boy progress, can hear the howls and smell the blood.

Great work! Perhaps little bit adjusting on the composition might make it even better.
Maybe make the kickass werewolf bigger compared to the rocks. ;):+1:

Nice, wild and cold place for a wolf!
Glad my little ‘wolf’ has a better place to sleep :lol:Nowy.jpg

Hopefully, Threetails’s suggestions will bring you closer to solving the issue -> there is a problem with the Spotlight painting/sculpting with Spotlight when you’ve created an environment and the Background is on :rage:. Anyways, I love the overall color scheme of the image (incl the light-dark composition). Also, details like dirt and grass on the rocks look great. look forward to see how you’ll change the composition to get it more to your satisfaction

stunning mate, nothing else to say! Love the composite, the sculpt and the render! but the most I love the wear wolf and the mood in this work!
BRAVO:+1:

Thanks for letting us watch your progress.

looking great Rick! There’s such power in the posture of the wolfs left hand.

Thanks guys, especially threetails and Etcher for your advice. To be honest I don’t even know how I got the background image there or how to even shut off the lightcaps. I just keep pushing buttons to see what they can do then can’t remember where they were or what I pushed. Is there a way to turn off lightcaps once you turn them on? I have just been turning down the strength of the lights to 0 when I don’t want their effect.
I was hoping to post more of this guy a little more finished but probably won’t get time until the weekend.
Thank you all for your warm welcome back to ZBC. I’ll try and not make it so long in between posts.
