Energise´s Sketchbook (mini-tut pge 5, 6 & 17)

Very very nice. Crazy polycount…

really cool details.

Hey! About the bump texture, all quads in the layout should be (about) the same size  So there’s a couple of ways about it: you can manually do it as you said, and also in Zbrush there’s an option to make some parts of the uv layout denser, so maybe that’s an easier way to go about it.

Btw I love your work :+1:

Tja Jonas! :sunglasses: Amazing work on the soldier and congratz to the well deserved top row!

Its so great to see this on top-row. You deserve it! :) Thanks for posting the ZBrush screenies. I love the x-plode pic. Unfortunately it never works when I try it.. I guess my PC is not strong enough. :rage: Regarding vacation, Ill be in Italy and in Serbia… so no snowboarding this time. But Ill go hiking and horse riding.. hopefully no broken-bone-souvenir this year, hehe. Actually it might be safer for me to stay at home BUT when I tell you a little story.. youll see that I`m not even safe at home.
A while ago I disassembled our espresso machine, cleaned it put all the parts back together. Well, that´s what I thought but I forgot one small gasket/joint ring.
After the work was done I wanted drink an espresso. So far, so good.
I filled in the water and espresso powder and waited with my cup right beside the espresso machine.
Only a few seconds later the machine exploded… and the whole kitchen (me included :sunglasses:) was full of hot espresso powder and water.
No more questions, huh?

hey thanks for the tutorial

neil77: Thanks!

Moni-Poroni: Thanks Moni!! Top row rules  Yeah exploding meshes are fun hehe. The trick when using x-plode is to do it on level 0 and then step up to the highest one  Cool! Both Italy and Serbia! I have a Bosnian friend who visits the coast of Serbia every year. I will go to Nice (France) myself in a month or so  hahahahah… sorry but… hahahah  (hope you did not get burned too bad  ) Guess you are haunted by really bad luck. Have you broken lots of mirrors lately? It will be fun to hear about your vacation after the summer  I am sticking with the “put a cup of water in the microwave and add freeze-dried coffey” hehe!

gwainbarek: No biggie, hope you find it useful!

My work!

Great work, are you going to texture, light and render it?

LittleClaude: Thanks man! I am working on it “as we speak”

Morning Energise,

Keep it up man and good day.

Emmanuel.

Sketchbook and other

Maya4fun: Thanks again  That Massai is lookin awesome, I have dropped a comment in your thread.

Hehe, well… you know what, I only drink ice-coffee now.
Regarding the mirrors… hmm… actually not a single one in my whole life as far as I remember.
Too bad I cant say that as an excuse. :D I cant wait for the holidays and sounds like youll have nice holidays, too. Nice is beautiful. I havent been there but some friends have been there about two years ago and Ive seen lots of wonderful pics so dont forget your camera.
And while were on the subject camera.. since I started with ZBrush I see the world in alphas and textures *LOL* Especially when I forget my camera I see lots things and think damn.. I have to come back later..this would make a great texture. :D Im planing to buy a better camera with a macro… but since they are a bit expensive Ill have to wait a few months. :sunglasses: Hope everythings alright. Talk to you soon and thanks a lot for the tip with the x-plode. I need to try that.

PS:Are you going to enter the contest over at cgcoach?

haha good girl
hmmm… what if you start breaking lots of mirrors instead? Then you might reverse the curse! :stuck_out_tongue:
The camera is packed and ready along with the rest of the stuff!
Cool that your friends have been there. Did they mention any good places to visit?
haha yeah it is quite funny how you perceive the world as an artist.
I took LOTS of pictures in Paris last year. Especially the Notre Dame which is superbeautiful with gargoyles all over the roof. Too bad I dont own a real system camera, just a compact one
I have noo idea what a camera macro does hehe.
Hope to hear a lot about your vacation when you come back!

PS. Not this time, but me and Sinz were talking about maybe getting the old creature crew back together for the next challenge  You up for it?

Jonas, hi!

I am a Johnny-Come-Late to your thread.

*First of all, bravo and congrats. Artists like you are inspirations for neophytes like me.

*I am working on an 18th century soldier model and having huge issues with the cross-belts, waist belts and the hat straps.

*I see a lot of superbly done belt articles and straps on your soldier model. Would you be kind enough to post some tips on your workflow for belts and straps?

*I tried the masking curve brush. Not much luck there. So I am painstakingly building geometry for hatbands and straps using retopology method.

Takk og hilsen,
Fred
