Bringing back an old friend

new who it was instantly from the thumb, such great character and expression

I had hoped that I would be farther along with Schlitzie before I had to stop for a couple of weeks but This is all I can get done now.
I still want to work on the texture on the face and arm and still want to fix the anatomy problems on the arm. The fibermesh is all basically place holders I knocked them out to see it with the hair it isn’t really dressed yet. When I can get back to him I will Polypaint him and create displacement maps so I can render him in Modo but I must say the BPR renders are looking pretty nice. Though In Modo I can do better transparency reflections and sss. Also have real control over the lights. Anyways hope you like how he is turning out. More to come in a week or two.
Thanks Carver for you nice comments.

Looking awesome! I love the subtle wrinkles caused by the bent wrist. And your right about the render, it looks great!

What else can I say exept a simple WOW !

it’s turned out great :+1:

Great!

coming along nicely, great expression of character

damn, still a wip?! are you rendering in modo or just zbrush? what a lovely expression!

Haha fantastic head! Love his expression and pose.

I think this is your best z brush work yet!

You won’t make any friends or find a job posting your work on Monstermakers thread!

You won’t make any friends or find a job

dear! I do not try to look for work or friends. In my opinion the character of Monstermaker is similar to this person. It is not my work :o, it is a shot from the old movie.
PS: rules of forum? ok

the character made by Mr Baker is taken from the cult classic FREAKS…this is the only comparison considering which is the real source of inspiration. Etically you must not post images or artworks on threads of other (see the rules of forum) except maybe when there is a sort of friendship (i’ve posted sometimes images on other threads to help or support…but rarely)…eventually in general post a link to your thread instead. Best regards, daniele.

Ok, a mistake is a mistake! I thought it was a posting of your work! LVXIFER has said it all!

Cheers, David

Hi Rick. Hopefully you’ll see this, but even if I don’t post a comment rest assured I’m always on the lookout for your new Zbrush posts as I’m sure are many others and have been a fan for decades. I love that you’re having fun with the old Star Wars masks. Being an older guy (mid-40s) you inspired me to both get into the industry and more recently start teaching myself to sculpt in both zbrush and sculpey (so as not to be beholden to any one methodology) to supplement my 2d film stuff, and make tweaks when others are interpreting my designs in 3d beyond Pshop overlays/matte painting. At first brush was all greek to me but I think it’s starting to make more sense.

Thanks and jeez dude keep the posts coming when you can. And harass them about new Star Wars work. Holy cow when I think of what you could do when let loose compared to back then…

Also, any chance of finally after all these years seeing the Night Skies aliens in your forthcoming book/s? That’s been like a holy grail for me for decades now!

Ok I’m back to my computer again. Thanks for the responses guys.
VoroN-art I want to see the photo of the russian actor that looks like Schlitzie I guess you removed it. I take it that you were misunderstood in your posting it but anyhow I would like to see this guy. Sorry I have been away from computers for a week.
Half Vader, thanks for the nice words. yah if I have my way the Night Skies aliens will have a chapter in my book.
Ok enough enough of this typing I want to get back to finishing Schlitzie. Being away from it for a week I see a lot that I want to fix.

I made some changes in the sculpture groomed the fibermesh a little and did a BPR render to see how he was looking. Thought I would share the progress. I still haven’t poly painted the face or hand and it is just the basic material. Looking forward to painting him and messing with different materials. Again I am impressed with the BPR renders inZB.

Stellar!

uargh fantastic, simply BPR ? I’d love to see all your settings…:+1:
