Armoured Saint

figure has dali undertones is he one of your favoured/inpirering artists ?
nice work btw :+1: :+1: :+1:

Cosmic FOOL:
Dali eh… hmm, Love him although I have never studied his style.
His religious pieces are all I remember excluding the drawers burning in the giraffes neck( everyone knows those).
Thank you for the inferences, that’s really nice of you.
I hate everything I do so it all means alot when you guys come up with something positive to say. Thanx again bro:)

SORROW_finalgather_render1.jpg
Another light test in Maya using Final Gather settings in conjunc with MentalRay.
One light used with an intensity of .8 and no decay.
Used a poly-sphere as a backdrop cut in half so it acts as a kind of photon catching dish. Lambert shader assigned to bowl to avoid any reflections back to model.
Assigned the rendering properties of the character and armour, to only render reflections, diffuse etc only from the direction that the normal of the surfaces face the camera.

ouffffffffffffffffffff I love your work fantastic:eek:

the undertones im talking about although not strikeingly obvious are there i feel

in the upper torso and arms the way your style in the hands and arms has taken muscles and made them emphasize themselves by being slightly over stated .
is would be a bad thing normally but the style has continuity which means its right and brilliant (hope im making sense  ).
like i say its not in your face but heres some works that have this “gnarled” look

1st is the one that brought dali to mind when i saw your hands

Your dedication is very inspiring! Glad your hard drive didn’t go kapooey.

nice lighting one thing thats bothering me though is the fact he’s casting a shadow on the sky  :+1:

Moochie:
Thanx buddy, although my wife calls obsession what you refer to as dedication… I like the sound of your’s better.

Cosmic fool:
Thanks for the crits… I would not have made any changes if you had not pointed a few things out.
I picked up the colours of the sky onto his back and softened the sky-line in places. It looks better, thanks for that.

I’m bored with it now so that’s it…

New_Guy.jpg
Started this guy tonight…
Low poly of 15000 so far.

what happened to the rick james pic?

besides a multitude of compliments that I can’t give enough of …what is amazing as heck to me is the fact that you are able to keep taht poly count so so so so so low…and still have a very artful and well modeled creation…thnx for sharing…

Placid:
It was just a fun thing, nothing I want to keep.

Ron:
I really think they should make you a moderator here at Zbrush central. I have read alot of your comments regarding our artists here and you never have anything but great crits or uplifting words to say. We are very lucky to have you here Mr. Harris, thanks my friend:+1:

Here is the first rough draft…
No changes to the model yet or details.
Just wanted to see a lighting test of layout. There will be more than one soldier and they won’t be naked (LOL).

Here is a shot of the rig in Maya.
The spheres inside the character are influence objects, they help to keep the model from collapsing when posed.
