Amphibious Creature

Plakkie, Im, huanglan, Ashat– Thx dudes

seedspawn– Thx for the suggestion but I sort of went with the concept which has these extra arms but they seem to look more like spikes

x-space - glad you like it Thx…not sure which settings you mean ?? Its just rendered in Vray with GI and 1 light

I have been working on the texture (scales took a while) and the SSS …I have tried many different colours – sigh …… The colours on this one stuck out the most to me (thx Jason Belec kinda went with your suggestion) - any feedback would be much appreciated – thx

…o.k. i didn´t habe vray…I´m looking for a good hdri-mental-ray setup.

I can´t find nothing of interest in the 3DSMax Manuals. Doesn´t matter.

very fine v-ray renderings!

I would like to comment, but I just think it’s so beautifull like this. Top row, five stars and the works! Maybe a nice boggy background? :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Looks awesome dude, can’t think of anything to critique about it. I like the combination of the colour scheme and the SSS. It’s a far out design but it looks like it comes from a real world environment. I also like the large armor-looking scales on the top of his back. Good mix of scaley and slimey texture too. Very well done. :+1:

That’s frickin’ hot. One of the best creature’s I’ve seen in a while. Love the final look and the process you’ve taken to get there.

Exellent character and impressive texuting! Top row:+1: :bulb:

Somehow I can imagine this movin’ on a dance floor.

Nice thang whatever it is. :+1:

WOW !!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: DO a bigger render

Nice stuff! 5 stars from me. Question from a design standpoint: What’s the skeleton of this thing look like with an extra set of arms like that? Its going to need 2 scapulas and and probably conforming to the rib cage inversly and then a set of muscles that attach it the arm back to the rib cage.

Comment: I would say for your design, the arms are in a bit of a weird location to have 4 arms. it would be great if you had time to take the same model and draw in where you think the skeletal hardpoints and muscles are.

Very Nice I love the Colors you went with. 5 stars if I havent already voted on this.

Awesome design, modeling and texture :+1: I specially like the smooth part on the back! Great work… I would like to see “it” in another position :+1:

yeah awesome character, i agree: bigger renders please, love all detail on this!!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

the colors only add to the design, very good :+1:

I think it is a good bit of work on your part FoOD. I and others could pick things for eternity. I can see you learn well and interpret instructions/suggestions well.

A suggestion would be to knock down the sss effect, it is a little overpowering and takes away from the beauty of the sculpt. A little more uneveness in surface speculation will help greatly.

boozy floozie - if you see that on the dance floor, you officially lunch! The upside, you are going to get your chance to scream like a little girl for millions of viewers!

Neat design! I can’t really give any crits on this because this really is 5 star frontpage material.

-FOOD- that looks fre@k*ng awesome man :grimacing: …magnificent stuff…modelling, texturing, rendering…everything i love it all! And the scales on the character amazing stuff … how did you do it…please tell me? I’m new to zbrush (only a week) and your work is a great inspiration…

5 STARS :+1:

First of all let me say this is AWESOME work. Overall very impressive and inspirational (like most of the stuff here on zbc). I do have one little suggestion that you can take fwiw. The scaly skin areas might look a bit more realistic if you add some areas of whitish/lighter to the cracks in between the scales instead of only the darker values you’ve got going now. A good example is a real reptile’s skin, or even the raptors on JP.

btw, naturepl.com is a GREAT reference resource if you guys haven’t already found it.

Simply love it!

Waiting to see it up top.

Do you animate?

wow Thanks for all the kind comments and all the feedback.…… I was kinda worried with the colours but Iam glad u like it:D

crossbones – thx man ……I just tried to get the basic volume of the sketch and then added muscles ….thx for the suggestions.

Jason Belec – thx bro …thx for the suggestions I will give it a try.;)

Encoded - thx – the scales where painted in Zbrush with the bumpviewer material to generate bump and then painted over in colour for the diffuse (took ages).:frowning:

mitchfx – 100% right ….been staring at this for to long …..thx that will help – cool link:+1:

coye – yep I animate but dont think I will animate this …only pose and possibly an environment

(I will add a bigger render soon they just take very long)

slocik, Jorge Lescale - just realized I wont be able to post a bigger Image(size limit) one day when I get a webpage up I will add a hi res version
