Amphibious Creature

Hey all,

this is one of my latest works kind of fish lizard type thing, the design comes from a small sketch of Aaron St. Goddard. This is my first attempt at a full body creature sculpt it still needs to be textured and rigged. Some of the details where daunting for me but it was a lot of fun

Base mesh in 3D Max and rendered in Mental Ray

WOW! Textured and rigged its going to look amazing!

Looks pretty good, Looks alot like the concept on aarons website. Can we see your wires?

Looks great,

I love the subtle weight in the arms, I do reckon the Quadracepts need the same attention as they dont seem as heavy. But this is great over all.

Only looking at the pose I can already imagine how he (or she?) would move. Some model! :+1:

Wow!

Seeing the “Z” grab makes me think that you overdid(done-do?) the sss effect in your render. It Seems you lost some details of your modeling which is really good.I think it’s pretty obvious on the head.
My opinion…

Hey, this is a really cool character. Can’t wait to see more. Nice anatomy and the texture is also shaping up nicely.
Good work!!

Nice character concept. I agree with above statement(s) about overdoing it with sss as so many people do.

Excellent work! Really love what you have going on in the neck area

Yah, sss shaders and global illumination often cause loss of detail. Remember kids, shadows make detail visible.

hmmm dam SSS did lose some of the details, still tryin to get my head round all of those settings
well once textured ill give the render another poundin
thx for all the feedback

that is great i like the slimey look to it and those little arms with the fins on the end;)

Pretty sweet, great anatomy in the arms. :+1:

Wonderful beastie!

kevphil, John, LIQUID thx :]

I am still working on the texture, was thinking like white underbelly and darkgrey surface around the scales ? not sure ?

I have worked on the bump map a little more just makin the scales more prominent

Nice work, reminds me very much of the design for the Godzilla movie a few years back. Great character. Great feet. A suggestion, flip your proposed colour scheme. Keep the top/backsides light, carry the dark under colour into the cracks/crevices between plates/scales on the top/backsides. I would also suggest inflating the plates/scale a bit while keeping the crevices intact. These are suggestions, don’t mess with your originally instincts.

wow!!! really a great model…Can you explain how did you get that skin elevation in the shoulder and in other parts of the body…what the process???Congraturations
