About the next step for ZBrush

In the upcoming months, we will continue developing ZBrush 3 for the Macintosh, including native support for Intel-based Macs via the Universal Binary. We will also further enhance ZBrush 3’s powerful functionality by releasing updates and plugins to help you harness the power of this exciting new version.

I hope we get something a little more descriptive than that about the timeline for the OSX version of Z3… 3, 6, 9 months away? It will certianly help ppl make the decision wether to bother or not to install windows and bootcamp Z3. Assuming its even an option.

well , i simply received an e mail from support with a link, that brought me to a confirmation page of my datas.
once that made it brings you to a download page… and that’s all!

Well I hope I get it because my registered email I don’t have anymore. The one I put as current is the only one I have so I hope I am able to get the email from them.

this question might be a boring repeat, but:
are the plugins @download center the ones used for ZB2?

if you changed email address could be required to insert your new address in the new registration page.

if pre registration went well, i think you should receive that registraton mail, but maybe is better to contact support.

once registration made, there’s another mail you receive with your licence number to activate ZB3

Got mine! WOOT! Cheers Pixologic!

Nemoid,
Not an official answer this but I would suggest you don’t remove Z2. The default install puts Z3 in to a seperate folder in your program files/Pixologic folder. and both seem to work fine alongside each other.

I’m sure pixologic will come along soon with such stuff as ZApp link for 3_ at present these aren’t included with the programme. Also I’m not sure whether all the cool plugins that have been developed for Z2 will work in Z3 (infact I doubt they ALL will)
I’m debating, but haven’t been courageous enough yrt, to copy my Zstart up files where plugins are stored in to the Z3 equivalent.

Anybody any experience of this yet??

hi dude, just now I received dl-url, installed, registered and voilá: we can use both versionen simultan on one PC :) That's really great:+1: One fine and awsome detail: we can use our old lights and materialZZZ:laughing:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Thank you, great pixolowizardix-team:+1:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:

-cheerZ- :bulb:small_orange_diamond:laughing:

I copied all of my similar folders in Z2 to the Z3 folders and everything starts just fine (oh, I did not copy the ZData folder, though. I think this would be the biggest no-no of all). I haven’t tried any of the zplugs that I copied over, but at least they don’t mess up the startup.

Also, everyone should note that I changed the Pref to skip the welcome screen and zbrush3 starts with the Welcome Screen still coming up and then crashes as soon as you try to click on anything in the interface. I had to delete my CustumUI file and start over. So, if anyone else has this problem, that could very well be the situation.

Sorry if I missed something obvious but is the demo gonna be available at the same time? If so, do I have to do extra steps (in registration terms) to download it or should it show up on the downloads pages once the main part of the site is up?

Thanx in advance

Thank you all guys! i just installed ZB3 and mantained my Z2 copy as well. i now have to figure out alot of things within the app ! for example i don’t like SO much the gradient we have on the canvas anyone knows how to have it like Z2 one ? LOL

Nemoid (and another person who asked in another thread). I see that you can adjust the gradient amount in the Document menu. Set it to zero. I guess you have to do that each time unless you use the UI customization that is described in the Wiki, but it does get rid of it anyhow.

Once you get an email it’s easy. Just download install activate over the web. None of the pop code nonsense from before.

Will it work at all, (trial period) or do you have to activate straight away? Reason I ask is i’m flat in the middle of a new Vista64 PC build while I flog away here on my XP32bit install (the upgrade being partially for ZB3 so I can use fully 4gb of ram) and I would like to play with ZB3 some but dont want to activate twice within a short time…

Edit= text color.

I didn’t check or notice I just went straight to activate. I don’t think my brain would have let me think, It just wanted ZB3 now!
The download is a full installation so you can just install it then activate it over the web there is no more of that 3 pop codes and then having to ask for another code. So you should be able to install it and uninstall as many times as you like. you just need to activate over the web each time.

this answers most questions.

aaah thanx so much for your help Slosh ! it wouldn’t matter to have to reset it everytime but i simply didn’t like the gradient (LOL) i think there’s a way to store new UI in startup .cfg and live happily

SLI-Fallen,
in the ZPlugs menu there is a de-activate license button_ the help pop up doesn’t work on this but it looks liike this is there to enable you to close down the licence on one machine and relicence on another.
Worth check on the licensing wiki tho’

There are issues with most of them so my advice is to not install. The issues range from minor and irritating to crash causing. I’ll be updating those of mine that need it in due course, plus Pixologic will be releasing new versions of theirs just as soon as possible.

At last!

you’re mine!

all mine!!

bwahahahaha!
