About the next step for ZBrush

OMG. What an awesome upgrade. Can it really be considered and upgrade? Too many improvements. Nice job Pixolator!omg.jpg

While I sympathize with my fellow Mac users and even though Mac Z2 was released several months after the Windows version, I find myself just being thankful that Pixologic is still making ZBrush available for our small percentage of the market. Perhaps we will have to wait a few months, but that is the price we pay for using Macs. I know of one popular audio app that is available for both Mac and pc, but Mac is two full versions behind Windows. Now THAT is frustrating! So if I have to wait a couple extra months for a free upgrade to Z3, I’m not complaining.

Chill out mac users!!
Considering leopard is being released early spring we’d rather wait for a leopard compatible zbrush.
I’m also gonna be getting a mac pro as soon as the dual quad core versions get released. and that should hopefully be available by the time leopard is released. Then you can even decide to run both mac and windows apps through leopards integrated bootcamp…
We’ll soon be sculpn’ some hardcore sh**t on a blazing oct-core mac pro …sweeeeet!!

Wahhh… I have a solaris machine and ZBrush doesn’t work on it! I spent over 10 grand on it and ZBrush doesn’t work on it! Where’s my Linux version? Wahhh!

so tired of hearing you macbabies. Go buy a PC or sit in your corner and wait for the mac release

</rant>

I would also note that if you are on a mac then see that for what it is… a positive.

Why do I say that? I dont know anybody who is buying Windows Vista but I know plenty who are moving from PC to Mac as their next machine of choice, including myself. (that is not a small number of folks I might add) So maybe the tide will turn, however slowly, in the favour of Macs in the future.

Cheers

exactly. I love macs and wait with bated breath until the windows empire crumbles… But until then, macs are second rate customers. It’s just a business reality… If 9 million licenses go to PC users, and 100,000 go to Macs, you focus development on PC and throw the mac users a bone when you get a chance. No amount of public wailing and crying is going to change that, it’s simple economics

sorry guys, i was just venting a bit of frustration. it wasn’t well-placed. i’ll just go and make an iphoto album or something til the ZB3 release comes out for maccies.

I made a lot of contributions to this forum and I admire this software. But when it’s time to complain, others should have to understand it.
We have lost our trust a bit after waiting a long time:

*The Mac version of ZMapper is currently in full development cycle and will be released as soon as possible.

*… the release date for the Macintosh version will be announced following the release of the Windows version.

*… we will be pleased to make available to you a free-of-charge transfer of license to the Windows version…

my birthday’s May 9th, and I got ZBrush2 as a late birthday gift last year as well :D… and it really is the best gift ever

Amazing!!! Thanks to the hard work of the Pixologic Team…
Oh!! and a Big Big View port+ Shadows… Oh my God!!! Cant wait…

Keep in mind that pixolator uses a BIG BIG monitor… I’d speculate that it’s on the order of a 30" ultra-widescreen or more. The average joe like you or me is not going to have that much workspace without collapsing the sidebars.

It doesn’t look that big from the video. It looks more like 1680 x 1050 on a 20" or 22" or 1440 x 900 on a 19 inch.

You can tell by how much vertical space there is, there isn’t very much at all.

A 30 inch is about 2560 x 1600, there is no way he has 1600 pixels vertically. it actually looks less than 1024 vertically.

Either that or the video has been resized.

Of course you can have a view port that takes up your whole screen right now, that is nothing new to zbrush

Well, it is obviously a widescreen monitor.

Definitely a resize on the video since it is only 640 x 360, but increase that by 3x and you get the HD proportions of 1920x1080. So, maybe that’s it.

One can only guess other than yup, absolutely a widescreen monitor.

The best news in 2007. Enormous nerve-wracking.

Man o man I so can’t wait its a wicked!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:    :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Looking forward to using these features, they look awesome to say the least.

Mac users should note that the delay may well be due to the up and coming Mac OS release, as a mac user I’d hate to have a Zbrush early and then find it doesn’t work with the new OS.

I run windows as well so I can try it when first released.

Wish it was tomorrow though

Zbrush 3!!!>…cooooll…is that any zbrush 3 version for PC?..i want order it fast…

Amazing! I am counting the days, every second for this day to arrive soon, Pixolator!
Regards,

Anderson:roll_eyes: :grimacing:

Come on, Zbrush developers. You really don’t have to wait till May to release this, do you? Who cares about a few bugs? 'Sides, I’m willing to be a beta test guinea pig.
