About the next step for ZBrush

Well, after watching the video a few times this is how it works (as best I can tell):

You make a box, and project your front and side images onto the front and side of the box (I’d imagine you could do top/bottom as well if you had the notion). You make a sphere inside this box and use the move tool to shape it into the general proportions. You can then project the image that is on the box to the sphere, which I assume is projected as a mask. Once the mask is in place, you can displace the unmasked area to give you a guide for sculpting (similar to the method employed in the “modeling with your texture” video from RyanK). After that it looks to be good old fashioned sculpting. No ‘monster maker’ button anywhere to be found

At last the long wait is coming near cant wait for the may 15, 2007  thanks for the info!

im sorry to ask this stupid question. i thought it was going to be 2.5 release.
so is there a 2.5 and a 3 or just a 3?
im on a MAC, so that means i gotta wait longer…
////runs off to a corner, sits on a rickety stool and cries////

nope, no 2.5, it’s now 3.0

wooohoooooo pic 3 pic 3 my lord. (shrek line)
i cant wait…

rubs hands together really fast. big grin…

C’mon now, would a simple ‘monster maker’ button be too much to ask?
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I figured it couldn’t really be that easy, but I was curious what it might be capable of.

Alexleia- Thanks much for the info, will have to try the CretaColor Nero 1 black see how I like it sometime. I thought it was something other than a pencil type but wasn’t sure which. Didn’t seem like conte crayon or prismacolor which i’m rather fond of using. I’ve only used Winsor and Newton products for water color works. Only other question was just curious what size you typically work your concept images? Appreciate the info!!

i wish Zbrush 3 release a version for Linux…

Big Version of Kris’s Old man image from cgtalk.

Quote:

Hey KRIS which one of those models were yours? Was it the guy and the baby?

Yep, the old man. They are going to show more images soon, with better resolution and all. For now, you can check the old man model here if you’re curious: http://www.antropus.com/oldman/antropus_oldman40.jpg

I wish I could freeze myself till may…

Something odd…

Alot of the tutorials and the Zbrush plugins links are all broken now on the main site. Most return “File Not Found”.

those new features are just EXACTLY the same with what i dreamed of!!!

80% of the user-friendly functions are not complex to be coded, but sometimes you just have to hear those tiny whispers of your “angels”, your friendly users!

your are my heros! everyone in pixo!:+1:

Heyyyyyyyyy!!!
I’m very glad to see ZB3.0! Soooooo glad!
Thank you for license transfer idea, since I’ve 3 licenses of ZB Mac and now I’ve no PowerPC Mac at all. That made me sick and miss ZB alot. I even have an idea to email you guys to transfer it too.
Thank you again. Thank you thank you!!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thats great news, I somehow suspected it would be 3.0.

Hmm, just a quick question, . . .
I found recently whilst building facial morphs, that if you take the model into Zmapper the model fluidly morphs back and forth.
If Z3 has multiple layered morph targets, will they ‘play’ the same way in Zmapper giving us basic animation possibilities ?

Oh, and do you think Pixolator would sign my copy of Zbrush3 ?

Hi friends,

I must say “THANK YOU” to the “PIXOLOGIC TEAM”.

I think there is NO BIGGER AWARD then the one that comes from
an actual client, consumer, artist. You guys work hard to make me look like a GREAT at what I do.

THANK YOU once Again !!

My bad. I must be thinking about the release date for 2.5 (2.5 never came) until now (3.0). Didn’t mean to stir up any trouble.

Saw the video; INCREDIBLE

I am on a Mac G5 1.8 dual; so I have to wait for the original Mac version of ZBrush 3… Any idea how long this is gonna take? End of may 2007?.. Would I be so lucky… Again; Great application! Lightning can -indeed- strike twice!

What happens with all the plugins & scripts that people have put out for ZB2? I can understand the pixolator originals will probably be incorporated directly but will it still support the rest or will we need them at all?

Every time I watch the demo for version 3 I sit on the edge of my seat and get blown away all over again.

I’ve used Zbrush demos several times, but found the interface and concept somewhat unwieldy… with this version I am really going to dig in and try to conquer this awesome beast!

Some questions (remember, I’m a stark raving beginner)…

About the video:

  • What is that part where the (poly?) appears to get sucked onto the face/head model... like a vacuum mold... is it a retopo ... whatever it is it is pretty cool
About using a "tool" (in 3d mode):
  • Is there, or could there be a warning flag that would say something like "you are about to drop your tool to the canvas... verify" so you don't accidentally lose the 3d model? --- maybe this is just something I'm not understanding correctly
Thanks - this is truly incredible software - just takes some getting used to.
