A Gift From Pixologic

Sculptris is cool, but maybe someday Pixologic give us a gift like Zbrush 2.0  Still very usefull app

… is that in ,the next release the mesh is made of quads instead of tris…

I agree.
Maya has function to convert tris2quad.

IS there any hope for a MAc version? I’d love to try it.

I actually like it. I would love to see how well pixologic streamline this into their next version of z-brush. Awesome program!

Scupltris is so simple it’s genius  I hadn’t realised before how much creative energy it saps to always worry about polygons. That constant internal chatter …edge flow, poly density, always quads not tri’s …

I’ve been doing cg for 15 years and this software is so cool I can’t stop smiling.

Actually I think it might be the other way round. zbrush will be crushed and absorbed into scupltris…

je n’arrive pas a le télécharger comment on fait

Ce lien hypertexte ne fonctionne pas?

ps. je ne comprends un peu le francais.

Same here. I use ZBrush for Mac OSX.
Hopefully we’ll see a MAC OSX version soon.

Cheers!

I was quite interested in trying out your “free gift” of the Sculptris program; however, after four tries clicking on your “download here” spot, nothing has downloaded. Que pasa?

AWESOME STUFF !! hAVE TO TRY IT ALL !!! wHO HAS THE rundown of features between zbrush, modo, poser etc.
What does what and what does NOT ?
Can each import, use plug in’s and share data ?

Is there any comparison sites.

Great things about all in 3D artist but for a newby; is there one that does it all ?

  1. Better response when working on high polygon models. The program slows down when we increase the polygon count.

    1. Keep the feature set simple, infact, leave the program as is. The fact that there is no menu set up like Zbrush full of too many features to choose makes it perfect for getting up and running when working on projects.

Thank your for a great “free” program.
Keep up the great work.

Cheers.

Greate stuff
As an overivew; what does Z brush do that also is done in Modo
I wish there was a fewview in 3D artist of featuers but maybe some day.

I see some use DAZ, Poser, maya, cinema 4D but you see sculpting you see zbrush and Modo

Maybe it is just what people have been using ?

Is there a Mac download available?

short answer, no.
But with zbrush you can do almost anything in the sculpting/texturing department. It certainly does not do many things the way other programs would, and there are certainly other programs out there that do some stuff better (or much better)… but zbrush is very well rounded for a newbie. Provided you don’t plan to animate. It’s good for anything that will stay still.

If you’re just starting out, I recommend you learn Maya. It’s the industry standard, and it can do practically everything– though it is not particularly good or effective at anything it does. But it’s still a must.

I downloaded sculptris for the very first time and couldn’t wait to start.
Now everything works like in the youtube tutorials exept for the most important feature…the sculpting.
At startup I do not see an orange circle on my object and when I click a sculptingtool it doesn’t do anything:confused: .
What did I do wrong:question: I already removed everything and downloaded again to another folder but that doesn’t change anything…still can’t sculpt.

I’m a big fan of Modo and use it in my own workflow. I recently entered a competition where everything had to be done in modo. The sculpting drove me nuts. Every stroke had to be intentional and you really have to try a few times to get the stroke to lay done properly. Modo just cant handle polygons the way sculpting apps like Zbursh or Mudbox do. I think that will change soon and if it does that will be great.
