3D Connexion & ZB...

Very Impressed with 3dcoat and the SpacePilot. Dreamy actually.
And after a little scripting I have it animating in Maya, realtime, smooth ah happy.

Love my Space Pilot, Wacom Tablet Combo!

So I have it working in Nuke, Maya, 3Dsmax and 3DCoat.
I just found out Blender supports it too.

I love Zbrush, but it will sit on the shelf as non fluid creation tool until this functionality is integrated. Hope that happens soon.

Just let me know before you support the devices, so I can invest in 3D Connexion first.

After working with a spacepilot, I find it nothing short of annoying to interrupt your work-flow only to rotate the space. Trying the ZBrush demo and loving the UI and functionality, but it’s just not the same without the help of my pilot.

You guys (the developers) really need to wake up into reality here and see what you’re loosing out without support for these navigation tools…

I just realized that even blender is supported by spacepilot!

I wont send a ticket, but I certainly would like to ask for it’s inclusion in Zbrush. This 3d mouse is Amazing! The 99.9% of people who don’t use it right now. Only need to see a video of it in action to understand how much they will want it, and it’s features present in Zbrush.

I just bought 3D-Coat to use it along with ZB in my pipeline.
3D-Coat supports 3DConnexion-devices and shows and proves how usefull these devices are when sculpting and painting on models. That’s real fun.

The SDK is available, I think everyone would be happy to wait an extra week for the release of the next zbrush if it included 3dconnexion support.

In the meanwhile, you may have fun recording camera moves on the fly with some new tools I have put together.

These brought my Connexion Device up to what I was originally expecting upon purchase in Maya.

Please offer some feedback, improvements or bugs.

It also includes some mousemocap tools.

Thanks

The lack of support of 3DConnexion in ZBrush was really sad news!!
It would have been a match made in heaven. I was really into buying ZBrush and couldn’t wait to get starting sculpting. But after reading this my interest is diminished. I will sure test the trial when it’s out for the Mac. But with a support for the 3D mouse I had bought it right away.

Maybe it just is to heavy for ZBrush to move all those millions of polys around with the 3D mice? Since you can perform a rotation/zoom/pan simultaneous with the device.

I can only assume the issues lies in available people and time vs. the perceived user-base of the zbrush+3D Connexion device combo. I don’t believe it is a technical issue.

sure  This threat is now 3 Years old! Happy Birthday Pixologic - good Job!

I use a Space Pilot at work and was so hopeful that zbrush 4 would take advantage of these incredible tools.
I think what they should have done was offer a package that included the new Zbrush 4 with SpaceNavigator for an extra $60 .

I’d like to cast my vote for support of 3dconnexion devices such as the space navigator in ZBrush 4. Being able to use the space navigator with Zbrush would be so awesome. Really, it’s hard to understand why an application such as 3d coat can offer outstanding support for the space navigator, yet after all this time ZBrush still does not. I’m not bashing Zbrush just asking politely for someone (anyone) to please, please, interface 3dconnexion devices with Zbrush. I’m sure it would make a LOT of people very happy indeed.

Cheers,

Joe

I spoke to, shall we say, “the” power behind zBrush at Siggraph. The attitude I got was that Space Mouse users count for nothing. The Pixologic honchos don’t seen to think there are enough of us or that we are important enough to support.

I suppose that’s true. Only a professional in the 3D biz is likely to have an input device like a Space Mouse. I’m left to gather that zBrush isn’t being marketed at the professional market or is not a professional level app. 3D Coat evidently is.

I seriously regret buying zBrush.

I also talked to one of the programmers at 3DConnexion. If Pixologic released a SDK they would develop the support themselves, providing it was possible with the SDK. They were very friendly and supportive, unlike the icy reception I got from Pixologic.

I expect the zBrush SDK or Space Mouse support 3 -5 days after hell freezes over or 2 weeks after the end of the world. Whichever comes last.

Since Years now, the community is begging for 3dC support. Pixologic is ignoring them and we dont know why.
Now I desided to sell my Zbrush.

It was a big mistake to pay a lot of money for a native 32bit program, which has to deal with a lot of memory. Therefore its quite unstable on 64bit machines.

Anyone, who wants to buy Zbrush4 for 400€ send me a PM.

Bye

Well I’m a gnat shouting into an empty canyon here, but as to
“Only a professional in the 3D biz is likely to have an input device like a Space Mouse.” I have a 3dconnexion device and I’m not a professional.

I find it indispensible when working in Photoshop 3d. Sadly the lack of 3D connexion is also an issue with Modo, but I understand Blender supports it, so I’m gearing up to spend more time with Blender.

Add my vote.

Just adding my vote. I’m using ZBrush on a tabletpc with no slate buttons and was thinking of getting this device.

if the space navs work with maya im sure it will work with this new plugin.
ZSwitcher – a new commercial ZBrush plugin beta. With ZSwitcher you’ll get the renowned Maya workflow within ZBrush. ZSwitcher allows you to use the same mouse and keyboard keys to navigate your viewports in ZBrush as you would in Maya.

Somebody tried it? Does it work with the Space Navigator?
