I use 3DS Max. My space pilot is still useless in Zbrush. So sad!
NO this would not work on its own. Please prove me wrong.
I use zbrush for so much less because I prefer the pilot workflow more than all the extra crap zbrush squeezed into this last release.
em…“cr*p”? Be fair. Just real-time deformation as a single new feature is a huge. And spotlight is fantastic.
(I agree its frustrating when some things “break” as other’s are introduced. But previous owners didn’t get charged for the upgrade, which has very significant improvements.)
a lot of features are bogus then, not crap, including the realtime deformations which is very buggy. I programed and animation exporter for Maya 2 Zbrush.
The thing works, but is subject to a mind of its own, therefor not very useful for production. Maybe I am just doing everything the old fashion way still.
It still sucks that we are waiting for proper painting layers too. Zbrush is a blessing, but I am most grateful for version 3.5. Version four was a huge let down and the attitudes of the creators really shines.
Zbrush has quickly taken the road of concept vs production. Concept is awesome, it just has a bigger role in production with a few changes.
Proper layers, Connexion support, real camera import and export(proper viewports), ability to import and export lighting etc etc. The things people have been asking for.
Anyone notice how Mudbox is picking up momentum? How? because they are becoming more balanced in the ways that zbrush is lacking. So sad but true.
As a preview(concept tool) zbrush 4 has gotten a lot better and is not crap true true, but from a production perspective, the fluff is fluff and still crap in my eyes.
What other features? I know there are some goodies, but I guess its my personal overall perspective.
after a extended time got a response email from the plugin dev.
“Sorry for the late reply, but we wanted to look into this more before
responding.”
“After further review, this feature doesn’t seem to be very likely to
be a part of ZSwitcher. There might be some possibility in the future
if we learn of something that we haven’t found yet, but as far as we
know it doesn’t seem possible within ZBrush as a plug-in.”

I posted a thread forever ago about this. And FINALLY I got word that they have a Beta in place. Extremely late but if it works then my frustration will melt to relief. Make it work PLEASE!!
I would also like to say that working on District 9, Zbrush/3dcontroler would have been really nice for those long hours. But Again, NOTHING!
Any news on 3dconnexion support?
I submitted a support ticket regarding the 3dconnexion devices and was told it was a no go. They don’t perceive there being enough of a market.
Sucks. I hope the 3DX 10 beta can get it’s Zbrush compatibly ironed out.
I dumped zbrush awhile back like a bad girlfriend, when I finally got tired to waiting for them to wise up. 3d controllers have been around allot longer then zbrush, and so have their users. All the little innovations, and add on, plug in doo dads, and they can’t find the time to come up with a plugin for a mouse?! Pure ignorance. I now have 15 copies of 3d Coat running in our shop and are happily working way (productively) 3d mouse in one hand, and a middle finger to Zbrush. Sorry guys, don’t mean to be harsh hear, but this was a long time coming. Even 3d connections has stepped up to try and do YOUR job. (meeting the need of your artists.)

I would put a bullet in half of the tools you’ve added to your software over the years just to be able to work with a 3DM.
If zbrush can get this going who knows (maybe) I’ll choke down the bad taste that Pixologic have left in my mouth, (and I’m sure many other artists), and put your stuff to work. but till then, a more forward thinking group will get my hard earned cash.
What really pisses me off is I really like zbrush, it’s good stuff. Never said it isn’t. But a Ferrari with out a dam steering wheel us useless. And the fella trying to sell it to me that way looks the fool.
I can’t understand why Pixologic says they don’t perceive there being enough of a market, may be because they said in this thread not to open support tickets asking for it? May be is time for start asking
