3D Connexion & ZB...

Add another big vote of support for adding 3dconnexion support to zbrush.

Honestly I can’t believe that Zbrush doesn’t already have this built in; it’s such an natural way to work : one hand on the wacom, the other hand controlling the view w/ the 6-axis mouse. Much less clicking and wear and tear on the artist.

3dconnexion support is already in 3d Photoshop, and sketchup for goodness’ sake. Can’t be that hard… what’s the deal, here?

Btw: I talked to a guy at the Game Developers Conference who was using Mudbox… and he was using a small 3dconnection device. So there is some way to hook them up, even it it’s not officially supported yet.

I can’t believe upstart mudbox get support before zbrush does!

Yeah, I know. FWIW: I got the impression that what I was looking at wasn’t fully out on the market, like a beta or something.

As much as I really dig zbrush, I have to admit, having a full shader preview in mudbox is really impressive and appealing. You can paint all your channels right there, it seemed; but again I didn’t look at it super closely.

Painting spec and other maps is like the only thing mudbox has more then zbrush.
Everything else is just copycat from zbrush and feels very unatural to me.
All the real time ao blur stuff is just distracting from the main reason you want
to use the program.

I personaly find navigation in zbrush very natural.
Its the first software i learned and it just feels right.
Having spacenavigators would of course be awesome but its nothing
necesary.
We should rather leave the zbrush developers the freedom to create new
boundary breaking functions.
If the only thing the next version has is realtime ao and funky blurs
id be utterly dissapointed

Sure we can all just use a mouse, but once an artist gets use to such an amazing tool its hard to just go back. Its like taking away a carpenters hammer and give him a rock instead. There is no reason that Zbrush cant add support for this tool and still innovate there other functions. 3dconnexion’s is more the eager to work with zbrush to help them out.

Word on the street is mudbox is already building support for the controller. So guess what instead of upgrading my zbrush I’m getting Mudbox 2009!!! I’ve been waiting far to many years for zbrush to wake up on this matter. ITs a true shame really. I love this program. But for my everyday workflow. This controler makes my life easier. Such a shame…

So guess what instead of upgrading my zbrush I’m getting Mudbox 2009!!!
Before you buy Mudbox, download & try the 3D-Coat v3 demo:

3DC has had 3dconnexion support since ver 2 and the developer has awesome customer support! MG

Cool! I’ll check it out for sure. Thanks!!!

Upping this topic. Pixologic needs to consider support for these devices.

Hopefully the new version in August will include it…

don’t hold your breath

Mudbox supports SpaceNavigator… and i heard that new version will have all that zbrush has… most of the 3d artists switch to spacenavigator because it makes sculpting more life-like… so i think zbrush should do something about it, just because SpaceNavigator support i am using Mudbox now…

Yep I did while back. As cool as the new features in Zbrush are, there no good if I cant use my fundamental peripherals. Here’s some fancy new tools! But you have to keep your left hand tied behind your back to use them.
Oh well, I’m loving Mudbox now. Sorry maybe a little dramatic, but very true in allot of ways!

I got 3Dconnexicon and putted it away somewhere forever,

I just couldn’t get it to control as precise as ALT+Mouse

Ya, it takes a little getting use to. I don’t even think about it anymore. Its as natural to me as reaching into my screen and moving my geo by hand.

I’d be incredulous to say the least if you were to tell me that Pixologic didn’t have a driver in the works for 3Dconnexion’s line of products. I simply would like to add my voice to those who are anxiously awaiting support for their cherished hardware. Thank you in advance for considering our needs.

adding to the thread to hopefully get support for our 3d connexion devices as well. a friend of mine at work loves my space explorer but wont buy one because he cant use zbrush in it. this is really retarded. i just did my upgrade to R2 tonight and no support…what a huge bummer…

Just adding support for this idea…zBrush really needs to support 3D Connexion devices!

Hi,

i am new to zbrush (purchased 3 days ago). But i am too were missing instantly support for this device. (so +1)

But maybe that what i have seen today on the 3d connexion twitter may means good news. Quote:

Janosh, that is GREAT news! Thanks for sharing!

Imagine how AwESoME Zbrush would be if they had support for this!
