To be fair if we have to wait as long for space nav support as we apples have waited for our stupid mac version then we will all still be reading this thread in one, two maybe three years…
Add me to the list.
A big vote of ‘yay’ for 3dconnexion support.
Sooner the better.
Add me to this list as well. I believe this device would greatly enhance the ZB experience, and make many many things much easier. I think a lot of people’s gripe with perspective in ZB could be dispelled using such a device, and it would really make modeling more efficient. Less mouse clicks, less fidgeting and simply more control.
I think Pix would be wise in allowing such a device to be used, as it really would fit right in perfectly with the intuitive modeling approach of zb. It basically would almost make you feel like your model was in your hands.
I was AMAZED when I read Zbrush was not supported for this device!
Being able to ‘hold’ a piece whilst working it would be a vital enhancement to the modeling process.
Fingers crossed, that it becomes viable for this to happen…
I agree. This is a needed feature.
Pixologic…c’mon guys…you know it would rock
3d connexion navigation device support is a must!
It is much more valuable feature than “keyboard support” for me
Another voice in the crowd! I’m a 3d connexion user too and this is what I miss the most in ZBrush.
Bump! Any new info about this one Aurick?
The support for 3d connexions would be a very big improvement. I to have talked with Zbrush over the phone and recieved a very negative response. I actually think that is good. It means we are getting somewhere. Maybe if we get annoying enough they will start to cooperate. I’ve about decided I personally prefer box modeling the start in maya to get the base mesh complete then export to zbrush. There is just so much navigation involved in getting proportions correct at the start. Zbrush’s rudemntery navigation really gets in the way in the beginning. Although I really like to Zsphere approach I get annoyed trying to position them correctly.
Good to see this still alive & so many wanting it still…
I must say I’ve been waiting forever for these two products to come together.
It comes at a great disappointment that Zbrush chooses to ignore such a highly asked for driver set from its customers. Its gone on too long for me. Word on the street is Mudbox is looking to release drivers for the Pilot. If that happens Mudbox will be my new sculpt program. It saddens me. I truely love Zbrush and have used for over 4 years. But this is a real deal breaker. 3D controlers make to much sence not to favor which ever company is smart enough to create drivers first. It cant be that hard to do!!! We’ll see I suppose.
Zbrush user (maybe)
Hi,
and here the next navigator and zBrush user who can´t believe that pixologic won´t do support for space navigation. It would be so great.
Hopefully,
Paulus
Any word from Pixologic on this? I think SpaceNavigator support is kind of mandatory for an application like ZBrush. I find it really surprising that a comparatively low-cost modeller like Cheetah3D has it, and ZBrush has not.
From what I’ve seen so far, ZBrush seems to be a pretty brilliant application - and exactly what I’m still missing; but without SpaceNavigator support … I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer …
From what I’ve read, the SpaceNavigator API is pretty straightforward to use, so it should not be such a big deal to implement this.
Pixologic said we should see ZB3.5 by the end of the year, so odds are, we’ll know soon if it’s been added to zb3.5.
Crossed fingers here as well!
I use my 3D connexion Space Traveler with SketchUp, Rhino 4, TrueSpace 7.5, Poser 7 and yes even PhotoShop CS3.
Of course even non-graphic people use them on Google Earth, WorldWind and Microsoft Virtual Earth.
For some reason I had thought that these devices were supported by Zbrush, so I downloaded the Trial with the full expectation of buying Zbrush 3.
I just assumed that because everything about Zbrush is so very well thought through, I guess I just expected the bright people at Pixologic to be clever enough to get it. I can only conclude that they have never used 3Dconnexion devices and have no comprehension of the value that they are failing to deliver to their customers.
What else could it be?
Would anyone buy software that only responded to a keyboard but not a mouse? Certainly not. A mouse is an essential input device. Well regarding 3D software, pixologic is completely missing the significance of this equally essential input device.
I have owned 3D connexion devices for about three years. After owning my first device for a few months, I adopted a strict policy whereby I do not purchase 3D modeling software that does not support 3Dconnexion. I’m simply not willing to work with my left hand tied behind my back, an I’m sure I’m not the only one.
The zbrush interface although a bit of work getting used to, is pretty well thought out. I wouldn’t consider lack of navigator support a no buy reason, but I can and do see it as a lacking feature.
There was a new mudbox release recently… maybe it has the navigator support you need to get you n the game?
I don’t know if this has been suggested, but 3D-Coat ver 2 added support for 3D Connexion. You’ve got to check out the alpha for the soon to be released (next couple months) version 3! MG

Looks like it has been a while since the last thread on this subject so I thought I would revive it again.
I think it will be good to continue contacting Pixologic about this.
Maybe after Mudbox supports 3DConnexion products, Pixologic will develop it.
In the meantime, call Pixologic and tell them you want this feature. The more the better. After all, we are the customers that buy their products.
Cheers,
F
I recall reading the mudbox support was already in the works. Hopefully Pixologic saw that, and finally decided it was a worthwhile addition.
Zbrush was amazing cutting edge tech a year or so ago, but the pack is catching up fast, and if pixoligic doesn’t wake up, they might find themselves at the back of the pack, and surpassed by developers with more developement funds available.
Newtek is an excellent example… they used to be top dog… not they are way down the list, trying to play catchup, with a much smaller marketshare.
