Zskiff-a-licious!

Hi, MAH. Is it still possible to get that explanation of the inner-workings of your mahCut brushes? I’d really like to get a better understanding of what makes them work so well. Cheers!

I will be making more videos soon. Been too busy lately with freelance work. Have to get paid to pay the bills. You know how it is. It’s been rough lately but looking forward to playing around again soon with ZBrush. Speaking of which, I just finished some logo work for a client. Thought I would share it here with you all. Here is the B&W concept, 3D conversion using (Z, C4D, Wings3D), and a BPR sample with some PS tweaking.

PS - If you don’t know about Nik Software Plugins for Photoshop, check them out.
If you have the vision…it is not just for photographers!

Enjoy, cheers, and keep ZBrushing! It is always time for Art!

Great work again… looking forward to your video, I like your simplistic and logic work flows of past…

Keep em coming…

Ziggy

Thank you for your support!
I value your work to no end.
Makes me proud to hear your praise!
I feel the same of you and I am glad
to add enjoyment to your visit here
at ZBC!

Cheres,

~MAH~

Fantastic. I’ve been trying for a long time, but I don’t know how did you get those bevels from that flat geometry? If you don’t mind, could you share how did you make this logo? Thank you very much!

looks pretty clean there. I’m curious what you would need Zbrush for in this logo scenario. It seems that all that clean cut geometry would be better suited to the other applications you mentioned, like C4D. I’m always trying to understand better where to leverage the various strengths of 3D applications and am still quite new to Zbrush. the final result is what counts and yours looks great.

Here is a quick and simple answer: crease edges. Saves geometry. Not sure if C4D or Wings does that but I know how to do it in Z. as for the bevel’s, that’s cinema 4d. But maybe it can be done with the transpose modeling tool. I’ll play around and see but I’m pretty confident it can be done with that method. the star is pure ZBrush. I used the 3d gear tool with custom parameters, and transpose modeling poly group to form the structure that you now see.

ridiculously awesome as usual :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

MAH, thank you for reply my question. But I don’t understand how to get those bevels!! I’ve been trying in different ways, but always get a flat cap. I’ll really appreciate if you can share how to achieve that kind of bevel on the geometry. Thank you very much.

Well those were accomplished with Cinema 4D and Wings3D to make the basic shape. The bevel was made on the laurels by collapsing the front face to a point (in a low poly state). The shield bevel is actually a square spline swept about the shield spline using a HyperNURBS container called ‘Sweep NURB’. LOL, this all must sound like a foreign language. Everything is exported as OBJ and imported into ZBrush for further polishing, crisp edges, and slice curve.

Making a quick video which should explain it better.

I would have posted this sooner but I had to redo the recording process 3 times. My video capture situation kept failing on me so I had to find a new, better, permanent solution.
Still feel pretty proud though. Was able to flip this is 6 hours including learning new software. I think it is a Professional record for me…lol! :sunglasses:
I was both scared and excited. :stuck_out_tongue:
Since this is the first time I have used this software, the background audio is a little too loud for my liking but…enough time wasted. Here it is. Hope it’s helpful in some way.

PS - It is about creating assets to import into ZBrush with Cinema 4D and Wings3D and not necessarily about anything within ZBrush.

PPS - Wings3D is wonderful, open source with a large user/developer base, and best of all…it is FREE!
Check it out!

PSPS - Cheers!

Thank you for this very interseting tut.

besides of the “eartorture” that makes you wish to cut it of.

(guess that could be also done with blender)

If I knew blender, I would make a video tutorial! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you for watching as well as your support!

~MAH~

Thank you thank you thank you very much!!! Love the tut. You hook me up with wings 3d, can’t get any sleep. Love the software. I work with typography, just wish will be possible to get those same bevel in text. Maybe it’s possible, but I’m just on learning process. You if know or have any idea, I will appreciate for your help.
MAH, thank you.

You are most welcome.
Text can be tricky.
At an early age, I was taught to be a font/logo Nazi! :rage:
So I know the drive and addiction of typography mastery!..
Really… (long story).

There is a way with Illustrator and Wings3D.
I am not sure this is the place for it though…but
This IS my thread here though…
So…
I will try to help in any way I can with what knowledge that I have.
Rupert said ‘Blender’ and I WISH TO GOD I had the blender knowledge
to help this community. I guess I will work on this, seeing as how C4D isn’t
available to everyone but blender is free and open source.
Will take some time but, I am now on the mission to like free asset toward Z.
I hope to share what I know and, with some luck, people out there will benefit from this.
…I hope… We’ll see.

So… Stay tuned and let me see what I can do. I have at least a half dozen Z
Videos ahead of this but…It is on my list.

Truth to tell, this Video response was a ‘test’ situation for me to develop better
Tut Videos for this community so, in that regard, thank you for getting me back into
the game of teaching Z and what would benefit this community.

So, here is the Video in question.

I am open to all feedback.
I can handle it only if…
You have the courage to let me know what I need to know to help you all!

Cheers, and thank you all for your attention, courage, and feedback.

I wouldn’t be what I am without Pixologic and you.

This place is the best ever!

MAH,
thank’s again. I am glad and very happy to hear words like yours. When I see people like you trying to help people like me(newbie), makes me appreciate even more your time to share your knowledge. We should have more people like you here in this community. I’ll help in anything as I can, to grow this idea to share what I know too. I don’t have the same knowledge that you guys have, but I can try the best as I can.
From me MAH, you know already I love typography. I’ll like t see what can I do more in zbrush when talk about typography. I’m very welcome to try new software too. But zbrush is one of my favorite so far.
So, to start I found this picture, and I’ll like to know, how do they do it? Is it possible to do in Zbrush. Fibermesh?? IMM?? Or they use another software??
Thank’s again

PS.: About the bevel!! I still like to know if it’s possible to do it in text.

Sorry about the last thread. Here’s the pictures.

I can think of a way to do that. Finishing up another video about the text. Will upload it soon.
Decided to take a break from it first and go back into Z for a little bit. Need to write down some notes
for the MAHcut brushes video and the BPR Shadow and AO render settings video. That being said,
here is a full sized sample out of Z. BPR took less then two minutes with an HD Geo total of 21.36 mil.

Mike, buddy, I think it’s time you made us a new creature. I was just thinking maybe we should put together a challenge thing like we used to do with the Monday Night challenge back in the day. Watchathink

I AM SO GAME! Been wanting to make a new critter too. Just haven’t had the time or spirit! I’m feeling it more these days…That itch…to make a creature.
