ZBrush4?

why Pixologic team don´t say about the news tools what the differente with actual version a little bit more… secrets secrets ok but you´ve a community… i think you must tell us a little more…

What’s the point of announcing something and that’s it? I mean, no video or even some words of what’s gonna be in the newer version?

But to be honest nothing wrong with the announcement, it says : THE FUTURE BEGINS August 2009

oh well…begins.

Certainly the best news of this year so far!

Very daft talking about V4 when 3.5 has been delayed for months.

why can’t pixo release more regular updates and bug fixes like 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 etc… etc…

It’s an awesome product but waiting this long for a few simple bug-fixes is going to cost you users in the long run.

Zbrush has always worked!
Exept for runtime errrors once in a while everything went more then fine!
AND THAT WITHOUT A SERVICE PACK! EAT THAT AUTODESK!

All these nagging mac users are really a turnoff.
Im sorry that youre zbrush is not working but just use bootcamp or
get a pc.
If u dont want to do that open a nag about zbrush thread this one is certainly not the right one

ZBrush 3.x is in many aspects a really revolutionary software with a very good price, When we get ZBrush 4 we will be surely enthusiastic about it, but I don’t understand why Pixologic doesn’t patch the existing problems of the actual version, before promising the next revolutionary version, that will have again new problems.

Though I am excited about the prospects of ZBrush 4 it is still just alot of smoke and mirrors.

Anyone can put out a press release touting the next best thing to be released in 6 months time. Saying that it is going to have revoltionary features that will blow your mind. But without any examples, demos or outlined features it is just some drunk guy at a bar saying he has a brilliant idea on how to make a million bucks only to find out later he is going to rob a bank.

PIXOLOGIC - GIVE US SOME EXAMPLES

This is quite a surprise. Hopefully they will be on time with the release. I do agree that more regular fixes such as 3.2,3.3 would be even better. I’d like to beta test this when it comes to that. I tend to run head on into everything that makes a program crash.

Disco, Stupid we did not open a nag-about-ZBrush-thread. Maybe you can open a nag-about-Mac-thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Not sure what the big deal is. All they have done is rename the next release 4 instead of 3.5. The only significant thing is is they are claiming another release date.

Richard

maybe the myriad of bugs not yet fixed? Or the promised 3.12 for Q4 PC users, or the promised 3.5 for Q1 09. Maybe the missing features in the mac version. Or perhaps even the stuff that used to work in ZB2 but got screwed up in ZB3 and thats still not yet fixed? Im really bored of Pixologic, ill stay with ZB because its still a cool product. But i cant recommend this soft to anyone anymore with such a miserable update and communication policy… I do also think that the “revolution” is sort of gone, others have picked up on the sculpting train and even take it further (voxels?) while Pixologic stopped to invent and simply tries to copy the others features to keep its rank. Started with ZB3 which more or less just was to catch up with MB. The canvas as a really unique core feature has seen no development since 2. Anyway just my 2c

Perhaps some proper format support would be good? instead of the ancient .OBJ file format. Being able to read in multiple UV’s and Morphs that Lightwave objects support?

Some way to allow for grouping support of MAX files as currently all versions of Max and it’s .OBJ export doesnt support groups? but Lightwaves does!

A way to actualy view your UV’s in ZBrush? it’s amazing that this hasnt existed for all this time?

I cant believe the negativity this piece of news has spawned, it’s mental!

Dont listen to that crap Pixologic! You do your thing

BTW ‘Macies’… quite your moanin!

I can’t wait to see what the crew has in store for us.

I wish there were some video’s showing off some of the new features, I must admit my heart skipped a beat when I saw the top row!!

Now I can only speculate as to what will be coming our way.

I’m sure that painting/poly painting will be equipped with layers.

I am hopeful that we will get a real-time shader that handles Color, diffuse, specular, normal, emissive, bump and alpha. It would be great to be able to sculpt and paint on all of the channels at the same time (That would blow my mind in fact!)

I’m also hopeful that we can get layer masks to our 3D layers, or multiple morph targets.

Bake-able HD sculpting would rock as well. I’ll take some displacement, color, spec, normal if you can spare it!

Those are the main things on my list, but I’m sure you guys have some biggies that you will drop on us all, I’m guessing that is why you are holding your cards close to your chest!

What ever comes out in the end I just wanted to say thanks for giving the world the truly amazing tool that I already have in my hands right now! I am currently doing things in the computer that I could have only dream about in the past…so for that…you guys are the best!

What he said! :+1:

:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: ! Etcher on ZBC = kid in candyshop! !

Holy crap I thought I was on the Newtek forum for a sec. All the moaning going on!

Can’t wait for the release! The program does what I need it to do now so I’m curious to see what is new and just around the corner.

Yeah, if you remember, we never saw 2.5… I wonder if the ‘.5’ versions are their beta versions or something like that.

THX Pixologic for so much insight in the new features and enhancements that we will faced in August!

Amazing how so many people in here can get excited about… nothing actually. Pixologic - with all respect - has a long tradition of ignoring its own deadlines so screw date. I wish to know whats cooking. And dont get me wrong - I am almost sure that it would be something bada$$ - I just wish to see some featurette, some screens - damn, ANYTHING.

No reason to hype - so far.

Seems there is reason to groan and mumble though right?
Get over it. Good news is just that. Good news.
Can’t please some though. Ever.

I agree with 8INFINITE8 on this one…software has to evolve. I understand the anxiety and some of the technical frustrations that have been mentioned, but let’s remember still how revolutionary ZBrush has been for the cg industry and digital artists in general.

Some of the things Nickz mentioned I also would really enjoy and be completely satisfied with.
